Description

The present invention relates to a new method for butting or laterally holding the vertical walls of deep excavations so as to allow earthworks without causing the destruction of these walls.

It is known to make works in the ground which can have significant depths, to realize the vertical retaining walls of said works by drilling trenches under a concrete mud which maintains the walls of the trenches, then by replacing the mud with grout or concrete which, when hardening, creates the vertical walls of the structure before the earthwork of its interior volume is carried out.

According to the currently used technique, the vertical walls are butted or held in place during the excavation by performing, between different stages of the excavation, at least one floor which can thus withstand horizontal forces exerted by the ground outside the vertical walls.

This way of proceeding implies that the supports which are necessary to support the intermediate floors are carried out beforehand.

These supports are obtained by drilling wells which go to the base of the building and into which pre-ground posts are introduced and which allow the intermediate floors to be supported.

The method according to the invention makes it possible to carry out the search in a simpler, faster and more economical manner.

The subject of the present invention is a method for abutting or maintaining the vertical retaining walls of deep excavations, characterized in that after having freely carried out the excavation to a depth compatible with the resistance of the retaining walls, it is carried out on the bottom from the excavation a ring slab which bears by its periphery against the vertical retaining walls and which rests on the bottom of the excavation; that after the solidification of this slab-ring it is joined to support it at the upper part of the retaining walls using guy lines; then continue the excavation from the inside of the ring slab to the lower end of the structure.

According to the invention, it is advantageous that the ring slab which allows during the excavation to ensure the resumption of the horizontal forces exerted by the ground on the retaining walls, is used to form part of an intermediate floor.

This can be easily obtained by positioning the ring slab at a suitable height and giving it a shape corresponding to that of the floor concerned.

It suffices at the end of the excavation to support the ring slab by the supports provided to support the floor and to close the open central part of the ring slab after which it suffices to dismantle the shrouds which held the ring slab for the excavation to obtain the final floor.

In the case of very deep excavations which require the horizontal forces exerted by the ground on the retaining walls to be taken up at several levels, it is possible according to the invention to make successively several ring slabs which can advantageously each serve as an intermediate floor.

In order to better understand the invention will now be described by way of illustration and without any limitation, an embodiment taken as an example and shown in the accompanying drawing.

In this drawing, FIG. 1 is a schematic view in vertical section of a structure in the basement in which the ring slab according to the invention has just been produced.
  • Figure 2 is a top view corresponding to Figure 1.
  • Figure 3 is a corresponding to Figure 1 after installation of the shrouds.
  • FIG. 4 is a top view corresponding to FIG. 3.
  • Figure 5 is a sectional view corresponding to Figure 3 after completion of the excavation.
  • Figure 6 is a top view of Figure 5.

There is shown in Figure 1 a sectional view of a work being excavated in accordance with the invention.

According to a usual technique, the retaining walls 1 were made on the periphery of the structure before starting the excavation.

When the retaining walls have taken hold, the excavation has been started to a certain depth as shown in Figure 1.

In accordance with the invention, a ring slab 3 is then produced which rests on the bottom of the excavation and which bears by its periphery against the retaining walls 1, leaving in its center a large opening 4 as can be seen on the Figure 2 when the ring slab 3 has taken, it is connected by shrouds 5, preferably articulated at each of their ends, to the upper part of the retaining walls.

In the embodiment shown in the drawings, the lower ends of the shrouds 5 are subject to the ring slab 3 in the vicinity of the opening 4, but it goes without saying that the shrouds could be secured at different points of the ring slab 3 .

This operation thus completed, it is sufficient, in accordance with the invention, to then search the lower part of the structure to reach its lower level 6.

The execution of this second part of the excavation is greatly facilitated by the existence of the large opening 4, which allows easy removal of the cuttings.

When the excavation is finished, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, it is then possible to proceed to the construction of the intermediate floors, and to produce the support points which support the slab-ring 3, which makes it possible to dismantle the guy lines 5.

The ring slab 3 of which it remains only to close the central part according to a technique conventional thus serves as a floor element. We see that the method according to the invention allows a simple and economical way to carry out excavations in deep structures, and without it being necessary to carry out from the start of the excavation of deep support points to support the floor which is made first to support the horizontal forces exerted by the ground on the retaining walls, in order to allow the continuation of the excavation.

It is understood that the embodiment which has been described below does not have any limiting nature and that it can receive any desirable modifications without departing from the scope of the invention, which is defined by the content of the claims.

First of all, it goes without saying that although the work has been shown in a parallelepiped shape, the invention applies to works whose shape may be arbitrary.

Likewise, it would not go beyond the ambit of the invention to support the ring slab during the continuation of the excavation with the help of guy wires placed differently.
