Abstract

The notching tongs for crimping end caps, cable shoes and connectors on electrical conductors has mutually crossing tong limbs (1, 2) of flat spring steel which are connected to one another at the crossing point via a hinge bolt (3). The two limbs (1 and 2) of the tongs each consist of two identical shells (1', 2') arranged parallel to one another. To ensure that they spring back when they are pressed beyond the crimping position, each of the shells is provided with a longitudinal slot (9) which extends via the hole for the hinge bolt, originating from the edge on the jaw side. When the tongs are closed, the slots 8 are aligned in the central longitudinal plane of the tongs. The slots permit the handle sections (1b) and (2b) to spring back when they are pressed beyond the crimping position in order to disengage the latch (11) with the toothed catch projection (12) when the tongs are pressed beyond the crimping position. <IMAGE>
