Abstract

A base plate for a rear-ventilated chimney, in particular a ready- made chimney which is constructed from a casing (1) of rectangular or square cross-section, a flue pipe (2) arranged in the casing, and a heat-insulating layer (3) arranged between casing and flue pipe, and has ventilation ducts (10) distributed on the circumference of the inside of the casing and extending from chimney foot to chimney head. In order to avoid mortar or other objects, which fall into the ventilation ducts (10) during construction of the chimney, collecting at the lower end of the chimney and reducing or blocking the cross- section of the ventilation ducts, becuase they cannot subsequently be removed, the invention proposes that the base plate (12) has, on one of its large surfaces, air supply ducts (13) which pass through at least one of the side surfaces of the base plate (12) and extend in a straight line until opening in at least one in each case of the ventilation ducts (10). <IMAGE>
