Description

The invention relates to a straw chair with an improved removable frame and extends to an improved removable frame which fits on this chair.

The seat of traditional straw chairs consists of four crosspieces connecting the different uprights of the chair and assembled with these by means of a stud connection. The mulching directly covers these crosspieces and must therefore be carried out once the chair has been assembled. This last point is not without problems because the manufacture of the frame of the chair and its mulching are generally carried out in different places. Indeed, we are then forced to transport the entire chair frames with all the drawbacks relating to their handling and storage.

De plus, un tel châssis, s'il peut s'adapter sur des chaises genre Louis-Philippe, ne peut en aucun cas être adapté sur des chaises de genre Louis XIII, Louis XIV, campagnard, monastère...One solution therefore consisted in pre-assembling the crosspieces so as to form a frame capable of being mulched independently of the frame, then of being assembled to the uprights by tenon sockets. Such a solution is described in particular in patent FR 2,548,530. However, this solution has drawbacks because this frame can only have four studs instead of eight studs for traditional chairs. Therefore, and in order to still guarantee the solidity of the seat of the chair, the assembly of the crosspieces must be carried out using a metal frame frame on which these crosspieces are fixed. The realization of this frame therefore constitutes a long and costly operation which burdens the price of the chair. In addition, such a frame, if it can be adapted on chairs like Louis-Philippe, can in no case be adapted on chairs like Louis XIII, Louis XIV, country, monastery ...

Another totally different technique consisted in making straw chairs with a removable frame and mainly comprising:
- a frame comprising two rear uprights having upper sections carrying a file which connects the said uprights, two front uprights, and two lateral members, called the seat bars, disposed towards the upper end of the front uprights and each connecting a front upright to a rear upright,
- a removable straw frame, called seat, capable of being housed between the uprights so as to come to rest on the seat bars.

The main advantage of these removable chassis chairs is that the chassis can be mulched before it is placed on the frame. This solves the problems of transport, storage and handling encountered when making a straw chair directly on the frame.

On the other hand, these removable frames have a drawback due to the shape of the frame forming the latter. Indeed, these frames are made up of four cross-pieces joined by tenon and mortise joints. As a result, the two lateral crosspieces come to bear end against the respective lateral faces of the front and rear crosspieces and it is therefore impossible to correctly cover the ends of these front and rear crosspieces situated in the extension of the lateral crosspieces with mulching. . It follows that the straw frame has four angles not covered with mulch which, on the one hand, require the subsequent application of a dye and, on the other hand, remove from this chair the appearance of a traditional chair .

To overcome this drawback, it has been envisaged to create frames whose front and rear crosspieces have a sufficient width to allow a notch to be cut at the ends of these crosspieces for housing the uprights of the chair and this, without harming the solidity of the chassis. The entire chassis can thus be covered with mulch. However, over the uncut length of the front and rear crosspieces lying in the extension of the side crosspieces, mulching cannot be carried out in the conventional way by crossing the different cords. As before, the straw frame does not give the chair the appearance of a traditional chair.

The invention proposes to overcome these drawbacks and to provide a mulched chair with a removable frame, the mulching of which has the appearance of that of a traditional mulched chair.

Another objective is to provide a removable chassis of low cost price which can be adapted to any type of chair and the very easy manufacture of which can be carried out by unskilled labor.

To this end, the present invention relates to a chair comprising:
- a frame comprising two rear uprights having upper sections carrying a backrest which connects said uprights, two front uprights, and lateral members, each connecting a front upright to a rear upright,
- A removable straw frame, able to be housed between the front and rear uprights so as to come to rest on support means adapted to maintain it substantially towards the upper end of the front uprights.

According to the present invention, this chair is characterized in that:
- the removable chassis is provided with a frame made up of four crosspieces comprising end faces cut out so as to define, in each angle of the chassis, a recess of conjugate shape of the section of an upright, in a position where the sleepers are arranged with said end faces pressing one against the other, substantially by one of their vertical edges, called internal,
- the crosspieces are secured using assembly means comprising, for each angle of the chassis, a fixing member provided with a rod adapted to be housed horizontally in the thickness of the crosspieces, obliquely to the axis longitudinal of the latter, and substantially set back from their end face, in order to keep the cross-members in abutment against one another, substantially by their internal vertical edge.

(Il est à noter que par le terme "paillé", on entend recouvrir tout type de paillage réalisé à partir de paille de marais, paille de riz, paille de seigle, paille synthétique...).(It should be noted that by the term "straw" is meant to cover any type of mulch made from marsh straw, rice straw, rye straw, straw synthetic...).

This advanced removable chassis has three primary advantages. On the one hand, the arrangement of the crosspieces allows the frame to be mulched in the traditional way, by crossing the different cords, and this up to the end of each crosspiece. Consequently, since the different uprights are housed in the corners of the frame, in contact with the end faces of the crosspieces, the mulching of the chair has the appearance of that of a traditional chair.

In addition, such a frame can be adapted to any type of chair. The method of assembling the crosspieces is finally very fast and very easy, and requires as a means of assembly only four fixing members which can be constituted, for example, of screws, staples or nails introduced from the external lateral face. from one of the sleepers.

According to a preferred embodiment, the means of assembling the crosspieces comprise, for each angle of the chassis, horizontal openings formed obliquely to the longitudinal axis of said crosspieces, so that the openings of the two crosspieces are located in the alignment with one another, the rod of the fixing member being of section and length adapted to be entirely housed in said bores. The fastening members can advantageously be made up of pins introduced by force into the openings facing two crosspieces.

The frame can thus be produced very easily by arranging, for example, the crosspieces in a template of conjugate shape of this frame, provided with oblique bores facing the ends of the crosspieces. Four holes each made in one of the corners of the template, then the positioning of the four pins by means for example of a pneumatic nailer or any similar device, then suffice to produce the frame.

The invention further extends to a straw frame of the removable type characterized in that it comprises:
- a frame made up of four crosspieces comprising end faces cut so as to define, in each angle of the chassis, a conjugate recess of the section of a chair post, in a position where the crosspieces are arranged with said end faces in support l one against the other, substantially by one of their vertical edges, called internal,
- Means for assembling the sleepers comprising for each angle of the chassis, a fixing member provided with a rod adapted to be housed horizontally in the thickness of the sleepers, obliquely to the longitudinal axis of the latter, and substantially set back from their end face, in order to keep the cross-members in abutment against each other, substantially by their internal vertical edge.

The invention relates to chairs of the type comprising a frame 1 and a removable straw frame 2. The frame 1 shown in Figures 1 and 5 comprises, mainly and in a conventional manner, two rear uprights 3 having upper sections 3a carrying a backrest 4 constituted in the example of two crosspieces which connect these uprights 3, two front uprights 5, and lateral members 6 each connecting a front upright 5 to a rear post 3.

In the embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 4, the chassis is housed between the front and rear uprights 3, 5, bearing on support means consisting of two lateral members 7, called seat bars, arranged towards the 'upper end of the front uprights 5, and each connecting a front upright 5 to a rear upright 3, and a front seat bar 8 connecting the front uprights 5 to their upper end.

This chassis 2, shown in Figures 3 and 4 is formed of a frame 9 consisting of four crosspieces such as 10. These crosspieces 10 are arranged so that the adjacent ends of two crosspieces come to bear substantially one against the other. by their internal vertical edge 10a. This arrangement, associated with an adequate cutting of the end faces of the crosspieces 10, makes it possible to determine a recess in each corner of the frame 9 for housing the uprights of the chair. In addition, mulching can be carried out in a traditional manner up to the right of the end faces of the crosspieces 10, giving the mulching of the straw frame 2 the appearance of that of a traditional chair.

In order to ensure their assembly, the crosspieces 10 are provided, towards each of their ends, with a horizontal hole 11, formed obliquely relative to the longitudinal axis of the latter. Each of these openings 11 is, moreover, arranged so as to open out substantially at the end of the internal lateral face of the crosspieces 10, and so that the openings of two adjacent ends of crosspieces are located in alignment l of each other.

The actual assembly is carried out very simply by means of four dowels 12 introduced by force into the openings 11 opposite two adjacent ends of crosspieces.

This type of assembly, of very simple design, makes it possible to manufacture a chassis 2 having good rigidity at low cost. In addition, the pegs 12 which only form a slight projection relative to the internal lateral faces of the crosspieces 10, do not hinder the shaping of the mulch in any way.

Finally, the sleepers 10 are provided with transverse notches 18 at each of the ends of their external lateral face. These notches 18 make it possible to retain the first mulch cords as long as the removable chassis is not placed on the frame 1 of the chair.

Figure 5 shows a frame 1 for Louis XIII or country style chairs. For this type of chair, the support means for the chassis 2 consist of:
a seat belt 13 made up of four frames disposed towards the upper end of the front uprights 5: two lateral frames 14 each connecting a front upright 5 to a rear upright 3, a front frame 15 connecting the front uprights 5, and a rear member 16 connecting the rear uprights 3,
- Bars 17 arranged in each corner of the seat belt 13 and connecting the frames 14, 15, 16 two by two.

It should be noted that these bars 17 can be eliminated by using crosspieces 10 provided, on their internal lateral face, with a shoulder on which the frame 2 comes to bear.

The frame 2 therefore comes to be housed inside the seat belt 13, bearing on the brackets 17. Due to this arrangement, the uprights 3, 5 generally determine a small internal projection, in each angle of the belt. seat 13. The recess required in each corner of the chassis 2, for the housing of the uprights 3, 5 is therefore small.

Consequently, the use of a chassis as described above would lead to achieving it by means of cross-pieces 10 of small section, having insufficient strength to give the chassis admissible stiffness.

The solution therefore consisted in using crosspieces 10 having a current cross section, adapted to give them a predefined rigidity, and the two ends 10b of which are chamfered at the level of the internal lateral face of these crosspieces, so that their end faces define, in each angle of the chassis 2, a small dimension offset, of conjugate shape of the section of the uprights 3, 5 projecting inside the seat belt 13.

The mulching can therefore be carried out in a conventional manner up to the end of the crosspieces 10 so as to obtain the appearance of a traditional chair.
