Description

  • The invention relates to a method for packaging block-shaped article groups from rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry, which are continuously conveyed at regular intervals and are transferred from one conveyor section to another conveyor section during their conveyance for the purpose of continuous further conveyance by moving them transversely to the direction of conveyance and transversely to the longitudinal axes of the rod-shaped articles and are at least partially wrapped with a packaging blank.
  • The invention also relates to a device for conveying rod-shaped articles to be packaged in the tobacco processing industry on conveying means which interact with a continuously drivable conveying means designed as a folding turret and which are provided with receiving pockets which successively accommodate groups of articles in the formation and size of the contents of a packaging.
  • EP-A-30359 discloses a method and a device for packaging cigarettes, according to which block transfer takes place transversely to the longitudinal axes of the cigarettes between two tangent, continuously running conveyors, in that the large surface area of the cigarette blocks is radially displaced so that the radial transfer stroke is a distance corresponding to the width of the narrow side surfaces of the cigarette blocks.
  • The object of the invention is to increase the performance of such methods and devices for packaging tobacco articles, such as cigarettes.
  • This object is achieved in that the article groups are transported in such an upright aligned block formation along a common conveying path of the two conveying sections that a broad side faces the respective conveying direction and a narrow side faces the transverse sliding direction. According to a configuration which increases the effectiveness of the method according to the invention, packaging operations are carried out on them during the continuous further conveyance of the article groups. A perfection of the procedure is that the continuous further conveyance of the article groups includes an additional transverse shift with integrated blank wrapping and continuous removal.
  • In order to be able to implement the method according to the invention in a relatively narrowly limited space, it is also proposed that feed conveyance, further conveyance and removal of the article groups describe an essentially Z-shaped conveying path.
  • The device for carrying out the method described at the outset is characterized in that the conveying means are designed as continuously drivable endless conveyors which, with the circumferential surface of the folding turret, which also has receiving pockets, have a common conveying section, each with receiving pockets which are aligned radially with respect to the axis of rotation of the folding turret and are aligned in pairs Form folding turret and the conveying means, the receiving pockets being embedded in the conveying means in such a way that their transfer opening corresponds to a narrow side face of a block-shaped article formation.
  • In a continuation of the invention, a transfer movement of the article groups which is harmoniously integrated into the common conveying movement sequence of the conveying means is ensured by the fact that the conveying means are assigned pusher members which move radially movable, groups of articles on the common conveying section from the receiving pockets of one conveying means into the receiving pockets of the respective other conveying means.
  • According to the proposal, an exact positioning or alignment of the packaging material relative to the article groups to be encased is easiest ensured by the fact that the receiving pockets are each designed to hold one of the cooperating conveying means delimiting peripheral sections as holding surfaces for the transfer openings of the receiving pockets covering package blanks, the peripheral sections of the Folding turret are designed as holding surfaces.
  • According to preferred embodiments, the common conveying section is formed by a conveying strand of the conveying means running parallel to its circumferential surface over part of the orbit of the folding turret, the conveying strand of the conveying means being guided by a stationary roller conveyor.
  • According to a further development, the integration of transport or transfer and packaging processes is arranged in such a way that the one block of article groups delivering funds to the Faitrevoiver and the other article groups are partially wrapped by the folding turret, whereby according to a further proposal the arrangement is such that the the conveying means delivering article groups with a first circular path section and the conveying means taking over the partially wrapped article groups with a second circular path section of the folding revolver are arranged to cooperate.
  • An arrangement reducing the overall length of the device consists in the fact that the conveying tracks of the conveying means and the folding turret run essentially in a Z-shape. In order to optimally use this conveying route, which is already compact in terms of its spatial layout, for packaging operations, in accordance with an advantageous further development, the folding turret along its conveying path is assigned impactors for forming an inside, outside, narrow side and broad side wrapping of the outer packaging blanks.
  • The advantage achieved by the invention consists in such coordinated movements of cooperating conveying means that a continuous flow of conveyance can be consistently maintained and that packaging processes are integrated into this conveying flow in such a way that, with a more balanced speed profile, without abrupt delays and accelerations of the articles to be packaged, one overall Performance increase of the packaging organs as well as a gentler handling with firm packing of the articles at the same time.
  • The invention is explained below with reference to the embodiment shown in the accompanying figures.

  • The device for packaging cigarettes 1 shown in the drawing has a conveying means in the form of a folding turret 3 which is driven continuously in the direction of the arrow 2, which on the underside has a synchronously and continuously driven conveying means in the form of an endless conveyor 4 and on the top side also a synchronously and continuously drivable one Endless conveyor cooperates 6 trained funding.   • The two endless conveyors 4 and 6 each have a common conveying section 12 and 13 over part of the conveying path along a first, lower circular path section or along a second, upper circular path section of the folding turret 3, which is achieved according to FIGS. 2 and 3 is that the conveyor strands 9 and 11 of the endless conveyors 4 and 6 are guided in fixed roller conveyors 14 so that they follow the orbit of the folding turret 3 over a section or are adapted to run in parallel.
  • The folding turret 3 and the endless conveyors 4 and 6 are provided with receiving pockets 26 and 17, which are arranged at equal intervals and in the same division and are used to hold the cigarettes to be packaged in the form of cigarette groups 18 arranged in blocks, by moving the cigarettes 1 one by one along the conveyor track of the endless conveyor 4, feed chutes 19 of a magazine 21 lying one behind the other are transferred in layers and transversely axially into the receiving pockets 17 via the receiving opening located on their upper narrow side. A free fall of the cigarettes 1 down to the bottom of the receiving pocket is prevented by a pusher member 22, which is lowered according to the successively entered cigarette layers down to the position shown below. Corresponding tappet members 23 are also assigned to the receiving pockets 17 of the upper endless conveyor 6 and 3 tappet members 24 to the receiving pockets 16 of the folding turret.
  • The outer circumference of the folding turret 3 serves at the same time as a holding surface 26 for pack blanks 27 of an inner block wrapper and for pack blanks 28 of an outer block wrapper, wherein the holding surface can be acted upon by suction air. The pack blanks 27 are cut off by a knife roller arrangement 29 from a wrapping material web 32 fed in the direction of the arrow 31 and placed on the holding surface 26 of the folding turret 3 by means of a suction roller 33 such that they cover the receiving pockets 16 thereof.
  • The receiving pockets 16 of the folding turret 3 with the packaging blanks 27 covering them and the receiving pockets 17 with the cigarette groups 18 located therein with their broad side facing the conveying direction are continuously fed to the common conveyor section 12 on which the receiving pockets 17 of the endless conveyor 4 and the receiving pockets 16 des Folding turret 3 aligned in pairs and radially aligned with the axis of rotation of the folding turret 3.   • From a blank strip 49, which is fed in the direction of the arrow 48, for the outer wrapping of the cigarette groups 18, the pack or blank are made by means of a knife roller arrangement 51 Blanks 28 separated, glued by a gluing device 52 and transferred to the folding turret 3 while covering the receiving pockets 16. In the upper common conveying section 13 of the folding turret 3 and the endless conveyor 6, when the striker 36 is pivoted away, the partially encased cigarette groups 18 are now also transversely to their direction of conveyance, in each case by a pusher member 24 of the folding turret 3 together with a blank blank 28 into an aligned receiving pocket 17 of the endless conveyor 6. whereby the pusher member 23 backs off to the same extent in a controlled manner and the blank blank 28 wraps around the partially wrapped cigarette group 18. Claims (15)

1. Method for packaging block-like groups of articles consisting of stick-like articles of the tobacco-processing industry, which are supplied continuously at regular intervals and as they are supplied, for the purpose of continuous further conveyance, by moving transversely to the supply direction as well as transversely to the longitudinal axes of the stick-like articles, are transferred from one conveying section to another conveying section and in this case are wrapped at least partly with a packing blank, characterised in that the groups of articles are transported in a block formation aligned edgewise, along a common conveying path of the two conveyor sections so that respectively one broad side faces the respective conveying direction and respectively one narrow side faces the transverse sliding direction.
2. Method according to Claim 1, characterised in that during the continuous further conveyance of the groups of articles, packaging operations are carried out on the latter.
3. Method according to Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the continuous further conveyance of the groups of articles includes an additional transverse displacement with integrated blank wrapping and continuous discharge.
4. Method according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the supply, further conveyance and discharge of the groups of articles describe a substantially Z-shaped conveying path.
5. Apparatus for conveying stick-like articles of the tobacco-processing industry to be packed, on conveying means, which cooperate with conveying means which can be driven continuously and are constructed as a folding turret and are provided with receiving pockets, which successively receive groups of articles in the formation and size of the contents of a package, characterised in that the conveying means (4; 6) are constructed as endless conveyors which can be driven continuously, which with the peripheral surface of the folding turret (3), likewise comprising receiving pockets (16), form a common conveying section (12; 13) with receiving pockets (16 and 17) of the folding turret and of the conveying means, respectively aligned radially with the axis of rotation of the folding turret and aligned in pairs one with the other, the receiving pockets being let into the conveying means (3; 4, 6) so that their transfer opening corresponds to a narrow side face of a block-like article formation (18).
6. Apparatus according to Claim 5, characterised in that associated with the conveying means (4; 6) are radially movable plunger members (22; 24) transferring groups of articles (18; 63) on the common conveying section (12; 13) from the receiving pockets (17,16) of one conveying means (4; 3) into the receiving pockets (16; 17) of the respective other conveying means (16 or 17).

Apparatus according to Claims 5 or 6, characterised in that the peripheral sections defining the receiving pockets (16) of one of the cooperating conveying means (3) respectively are constructed as retaining surfaces (26) for the packaging blanks (27) covering the transfer openings of the receiving pockets.
8. Apparatus according to one of Claims 5 to 7, characterised in that the peripheral sections of the folding turret (3) are constructed as retaining surfaces (26).
9. Apparatus according to one of Claims 5 to 8, characterised in that the common conveying section (12; 13) is formed by a conveying side (9; 11) of the conveying means (4; 6) extending over part of the peripheral path of the folding turret (3) parallel to its peripheral surface.
10. Apparatus according to one of Claims 5 to 9, characterised in that the conveying side (9; 11) of the conveying means (4; 6) is guided by a stationary roller train (14).
11. Apparatus according to one of Claims 5 to 10, characterized in that the conveying means (4) are constructed to deliver block-like groups of articles (18) to the folding turret (3) and the conveying means (6) are constructed to receive partly wrapped groups of articles (63) from the folding turret.
12. Apparatus according to one of Claims 5 to 11, characterised in that the conveying means delivering the groups of articles (18) are arranged to cooperate with a first circular path section (12) and the conveying means (6) receiving the partly wrapped groups of articles (63) are arranged to cooperate with the second circular path section (13) of the folding turret (3).
13. Apparatus according to one of Claims 5 to 12, characterised in that the conveying paths of the conveying means (4, 6) and of the folding turret (3) extend substantially in a Z shape.
