Definitions
- the invention relates to a protective device for users of drinking vessels with an elastic cap which can be placed on the rim of the vessel and which overlaps the rim inwards and outwards with a U-shaped cross section and on the inside has an outlet tapering to the rim of the vessel.
- the invention serves primarily hygienic purposes in order to be able to reliably prevent the transmission of germs in the mouth area when using a drinking vessel in the healthy as in the sick. It is by no means common knowledge, for example, to only be confronted with disposable containers in hotels for dental care. It also corresponds to life experience that the required hygiene is not always observed in the necessary manner in restaurants, for example during rush hours or unreliable staff. After all, it is a widespread custom that several people use the same drinking vessel casually. In all of these and other possible cases, the transmission of pathogens is open, which does not always have to lead to the onset of a disease, but is extremely dangerous if people are involved who are infected with contagious diseases. At the present time, this problem is becoming eminently important due to the almost epidemic appearance of AIDS, because infection has so far not been countered by effective means, rather one only needs preventive measures.
- Lip protectors for drinking glasses in various forms are already known in the prior art. These are placed on the edge of a drinking glass. However, they all have the disadvantage that they make drinking extremely difficult and are therefore felt to be impractical and cumbersome and rejected.
- Other known protective devices avoid this defect, e.g. by a special design of the outlet on the inside of the cap to be placed on the rim of the vessel, but these devices do not sufficiently take into account the lip shape of the user, so that there is always the risk of insufficient protection since the lip, in particular the lower lip adjacent to the outside of the vessel that can touch the vessel wall.
- the protective device misses its intended purpose if it is not possible to design it in such a way that it is easy to handle and consequently also used and that it effectively protects the mouth of the user from contact with the drinking vessel.
- the invention is committed to this problem with the aim of creating a protective device which, by virtue of its special design but also because of its practical handling, performs a perfect protective function better than the known devices by protecting the user above all where the risk of contact with the vessel wall is greatest, namely in the area of the outer side of the protective cap that lies against the outer vessel wall. On the other hand, drinking should not be hindered.
- this object is achieved in a particularly simple and advantageous manner in that the leg of the cap lying against the inside of the vessel consists only of two brackets arranged at a distance from one another in the region of the two circumferentially outer ends.
- a protective device designed in this way better than the known devices provides a precaution against infections where they are most likely to occur, namely in the area of the lower lip pe or the outside of the drinking vessel.
- the cap according to the invention is limited to only two brackets, which have the task of ensuring a secure hold of the cap on the upper edge of the drinking vessel. The middle area between the two brackets is consequently free and allows the liquid to flow freely over the rim of the vessel when drinking.
- the formation of the inner leg of the cap to be placed on the rim of the vessel in the form of only two spaced-apart brackets also has the advantage that the cap can be bent better and can thus be adapted to the wall of the drinking vessel used in each case, because only then is the required perfect fit possible Vessel rim guaranteed. In this way, the same protective cap can be used on drinking vessels of different diameters. Regardless of this, however, it can be assumed that such protective devices are used in different sizes, since the diameters of drinking vessels are subject to significant differences as well as the wall thickness of the vessels. There are considerable differences between a thin, fine drinking glass on the one hand and a ceramic beer mug.
- the protective device from a bendable plastic into which at least one plastically bendable metal insert is molded.
- the plasticity of this metal insert means that the protective cap does not lose the shape given to it by bending, e.g. by hand, due to the spring force inherent in the material when the deformation force ends, but that the cap largely retains the shape it was given. It is obvious that a flexible plastic is a prerequisite for this.
- the metal insert advantageously consists of wire, which can be worked particularly well into a plastic. Within the framework of this idea there is the further feature that the metal insert is inserted into the bracket is formed or forms all or part of it.
- the metal insert can also be arranged in a U-shape inside the inner and outer leg and end in the respective bracket of the inner leg. If the metal insert is made from a physiologically compatible material, the metal wire at the inner end of the bracket can also emerge from the plastic sheath.
- Another possibility to improve the deformability of the protective cap and thus its adaptability to differently designed drinking vessels is to arrange the metal insert approximately parallel to the U-web in the outer leg and / or possibly an inner leg. It can be found advantageously in the area of the U-bridge. It then lies on the upper edge of the vessel.
- leg lying on the outside of the vessel edge projects upwards between the two brackets of the inner leg of the vessel edge, thereby both improving the outflow of the vessel contents and also performing a protective function against the upper vessel edge.
- leg lying on the outside of the vessel rim lies on the vessel rim with its upper end. It covers it to a certain extent.
- the protective device according to the invention can achieve a particularly expedient embodiment in that the leg lying on the outside of the vessel has a groove which is adapted to the shape of the lower lip of the user and which receives it when in use. To a certain extent, the lower lip is embedded in this channel when drinking and is thus kept at a certain distance from the wall of the vessel. After a short period of familiarization, the user of the protective device will no longer see any problems in the fact that he does not touch the container itself when drinking, but rather the protective cap placed on the edge of the container.
- the anatomy of the lip shape can also vary greatly, it would be particularly advantageous if the groove of the outer leg of the protective cap could be individually adapted to the special shape of the user's lip.
- the invention offers this possibility, because today there are no longer any difficulties, for example to take off the shape of the lip with an appropriate moldable plastic and to base the design of such a protective device.
- the protective device consists of a sterilizable and physiologically harmless material, the prerequisite is created for the user to always use the same protective device and to sterilize it at certain intervals. This is the only way he can maintain protection in the long term.
- a physiologically harmless plastic can also consist of precious metal, a material whose use is particularly useful when the user uses an individually adapted protective device.
- a protective device of the type described above can also, as the invention further provides, have a sterile sheath.
- the casing is only opened immediately before use and the protective device is removed for use.
- This idea opens up a further embodiment insofar as several independently sealed casings can be strung together in an easily detachable manner. In this case, the user can carry several devices that are sanitized and sterile packed. Depending on requirements, he cuts off part of the wrapping or opens one of the pockets in order to remove the usually sterile protective device stored in it for use.
- the invention is illustrated with the aid of a drinking glass 1 of comparatively small wall thickness 2, but without being limited to this.
- the device can of course also be used for thick-walled vessels, for example with a beer mug or the like, with a corresponding design. It seems appropriate to provide a few different sizes.
- the device of a certain size can be easily adapted to wall thicknesses lying in a certain fluctuation range.
- the cap of the protective device designated 3 has a generally U-shaped cross section. It has an inner leg 4 which largely abuts the inner wall 5 of the drinking vessel 1. The outer leg 6, however, lies against the outer wall of the drinking vessel 1.
- a recessed outlet 8 is incorporated into the surface of the inner leg 4, which should facilitate the escape of the liquid from the drinking vessel 1 via the cap 3.
- the inner leg 4 consists only of two brackets 21, between which an outlet is formed insofar as the inner wall 5 of the drinking vessel 1 is exposed.
- the middle The lower part of the outer leg 6 projects with its upper end 22 over the edge of the vessel 23, as shown in particular in FIG. 4.
- the cap 3 can consist of a physiologically harmless and also sterilizable plastic which, if it is transparent, gives the cap 3 a particularly attractive appearance.
- the cap 3 can also consist of metal, for example a noble metal.
- FIGS. 5 and 8 show, on average, a cap 3 which is reinforced with a wire 24.
- this is bent into a U-shape and extends both over the outer leg 6 and the inner leg 4 of the cap 3.
- This wire 24 is plastically deformable, so that the U-cross section of the cap 3 is relatively easily adapted to the respective wall thickness of the drinking vessel 1 can be.
- a wire-shaped metal insert 25 is embedded in the cap 3 according to FIGS. 6 and 9, which extends approximately in the region of the U-web of the cap 3 and in the embodiment according to FIG. 9 is embedded in the part of the cap resting on the rim 23 of the vessel is.
- This wire 25 is also expediently plastically deformable and, in conjunction with a deformable plastic forming the cap 3, helps to adapt it to the different vessel diameters.
- the outer leg 6 of the cap 3 is provided with a groove-shaped groove 9, it runs out into a bead 10 at its free end. 13, the lower lip 11 of the user is placed in this groove 9, so that it remains at a reasonable distance from the wall 12 of the drinking vessel 1 when drinking and does not touch it.
- the cross section according to FIG. 11 shows a relatively slim cap 3, as is the case for thin-walled ones Drinking vessels are suitable.
- the embodiment according to FIG. 12, however, has a larger distance between the two legs 4 and 6.
- the head 13 of the cap 3 is expanded.
- the inner arch 14 extends over more than 180 °, so that the two legs 4 and 6 can be spread apart to different extents depending on the thickness of the wall 15 of the drinking vessel.
- An elastic plastic is primarily considered as a material here. However, it is also entirely possible to manufacture the device from metal, even from precious metal or coated with precious metal. The latter version is particularly suitable for protective devices which are individually adapted to the user.
- a quasi endless packaging 16 can be seen on a reduced scale in FIG. 14, which is divided into individual pockets 19 by corresponding weld seams 18, each of which accommodates one of the protective devices 20.
- the protective device 20 can be removed by opening a pocket 19.
- individual packaging is also possible, which, since it is readily understandable, is not shown.
- wings 26 are angled on the outside of the outer leg 6 in order to simplify the detachment of the cap from the edge of the vessel 2 by a slight fingerprint.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a protective device for users of drinking vessels with an elastic cap which can be placed on the rim of the vessel and which overlaps the rim inwards and outwards with a U-shaped cross section and on the inside has an outlet tapering to the rim of the vessel.
The invention serves primarily hygienic purposes in order to be able to reliably prevent the transmission of germs in the mouth area when using a drinking vessel in the healthy as in the sick.
Lip protectors for drinking glasses in various forms are already known in the prior art. These are placed on the edge of a drinking glass. However, they all have the disadvantage that they make drinking extremely difficult and are therefore felt to be impractical and cumbersome and rejected. Other known protective devices avoid this defect, e.g. by a special design of the outlet on the inside of the cap to be placed on the rim of the vessel, but these devices do not sufficiently take into account the lip shape of the user, so that there is always the risk of insufficient protection since the lip, in particular the lower lip adjacent to the outside of the vessel that can touch the vessel wall. However, the protective device misses its intended purpose if it is not possible to design it in such a way that it is easy to handle and consequently also used and that it effectively protects the mouth of the user from contact with the drinking vessel.
The invention is committed to this problem with the aim of creating a protective device which, by virtue of its special design but also because of its practical handling, performs a perfect protective function better than the known devices by protecting the user above all where the risk of contact with the vessel wall is greatest, namely in the area of the outer side of the protective cap that lies against the outer vessel wall. On the other hand, drinking should not be hindered.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in a particularly simple and advantageous manner in that the leg of the cap lying against the inside of the vessel consists only of two brackets arranged at a distance from one another in the region of the two circumferentially outer ends. A protective device designed in this way better than the known devices provides a precaution against infections where they are most likely to occur, namely in the area of the lower lip pe or the outside of the drinking vessel. On the inside, the cap according to the invention is limited to only two brackets, which have the task of ensuring a secure hold of the cap on the upper edge of the drinking vessel. The middle area between the two brackets is consequently free and allows the liquid to flow freely over the rim of the vessel when drinking. As a result, difficulties with drinking are completely eliminated, without, however, the protective effect being impaired in any way. The formation of the inner leg of the cap to be placed on the rim of the vessel in the form of only two spaced-apart brackets also has the advantage that the cap can be bent better and can thus be adapted to the wall of the drinking vessel used in each case, because only then is the required perfect fit possible Vessel rim guaranteed.
It is within the scope of this aforementioned general idea of the invention to manufacture the protective device from a bendable plastic into which at least one plastically bendable metal insert is molded. The plasticity of this metal insert means that the protective cap does not lose the shape given to it by bending, e.g. by hand, due to the spring force inherent in the material when the deformation force ends, but that the cap largely retains the shape it was given. It is obvious that a flexible plastic is a prerequisite for this. The metal insert advantageously consists of wire, which can be worked particularly well into a plastic. Within the framework of this idea there is the further feature that the metal insert is inserted into the bracket is formed or forms all or part of it. The metal insert can also be arranged in a U-shape inside the inner and outer leg and end in the respective bracket of the inner leg. If the metal insert is made from a physiologically compatible material, the metal wire at the inner end of the bracket can also emerge from the plastic sheath.
Another possibility to improve the deformability of the protective cap and thus its adaptability to differently designed drinking vessels is to arrange the metal insert approximately parallel to the U-web in the outer leg and / or possibly an inner leg. It can be found advantageously in the area of the U-bridge. It then lies on the upper edge of the vessel.
Er deckt diesen gewissermaßen ab.A particularly important development of the invention is seen in the fact that the leg lying on the outside of the vessel edge projects upwards between the two brackets of the inner leg of the vessel edge, thereby both improving the outflow of the vessel contents and also performing a protective function against the upper vessel edge. Another alternative is that the leg lying on the outside of the vessel rim lies on the vessel rim with its upper end. It covers it to a certain extent.
The protective device according to the invention can achieve a particularly expedient embodiment in that the leg lying on the outside of the vessel has a groove which is adapted to the shape of the lower lip of the user and which receives it when in use.
Since the anatomy of the lip shape can also vary greatly, it would be particularly advantageous if the groove of the outer leg of the protective cap could be individually adapted to the special shape of the user's lip. The invention offers this possibility, because today there are no longer any difficulties, for example to take off the shape of the lip with an appropriate moldable plastic and to base the design of such a protective device.
If the protective device consists of a sterilizable and physiologically harmless material, the prerequisite is created for the user to always use the same protective device and to sterilize it at certain intervals. This is the only way he can maintain protection in the long term. Such a physiologically harmless plastic can also consist of precious metal, a material whose use is particularly useful when the user uses an individually adapted protective device.
A protective device of the type described above can also, as the invention further provides, have a sterile sheath. The casing is only opened immediately before use and the protective device is removed for use. This idea opens up a further embodiment insofar as several independently sealed casings can be strung together in an easily detachable manner. In this case, the user can carry several devices that are sanitized and sterile packed. Depending on requirements, he cuts off part of the wrapping or opens one of the pockets in order to remove the usually sterile protective device stored in it for use.

Fig. 4 erkennen läßt. The cap of the protective device, designated 3, has a generally U-shaped cross section. It has an inner leg 4 which largely abuts the
While the two
In the embodiment according to FIG. 10, the
A quasi
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3,
