According to the invention the [lacuna] and with a tongue which in the area of the start of the flow duct spiral (9) forms the radially outer wall of the flow duct spiral, is designed as a separate part which forms the shell in the area between the blow out connection (8) and the start area of the flow duct spiral (9). The tongue can be connected to the rest of the housing by means of two moulded fillets (11a, 11b). The moulded fillets (11a, 11b) in their longitudinal direction are adapted to the course of the side sections (1a, 1b) and have a rectangular cross section, each flange of this cross section being provided with an open slot, one of which serves to receive the edge area of the tongue and the other to receive the radially outer edge area of a side section (1a, 1b). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a housing for a radial fan according to the preamble of claim 1.

A housing for a radial fan essentially consists of two side parts and a jacket. In order to connect these three parts to form a housing, the side parts are predominantly produced as flat punched sheet metal plates, which are provided with an angled flange on their circumference. The jacket is bent from a flat sheet by one or more rolling operations into the shape corresponding to the circumference of the side parts. The three parts are then connected to one another by spot welding connections between the jacket and the angled flanges of the side parts.

Since this manufacturing process is relatively complex, housings for radial fans have been developed in which the casing is provided on its two circumferential sides with a radially outwardly angled slot fold, which forms a radially inwardly directed slot (see FIG. 3). The side parts are inserted into this slot with their outer edges, and then the flanges of the fold are pressed together and thus firmly clamp the side parts. The compression can take place, for example, by hammering.

The disadvantage of this manufacturing process is that the jacket between the initial area a (see FIG. 1) of the flow channel spiral 9 and the outlet port 8 of the housing cannot be produced by rolling a sheet metal provided with slot seams, since the bending of the jacket in this area is too strong is. In order to remedy this difficulty, a housing is known in which the strong curvature of the jacket wall in the area mentioned is dispensed with and the jacket wall extends approximately rectilinearly from the beginning area of the flow channel spiral to the outlet nozzle. In order to achieve the shape of the flow channel spiral required for the pressure build-up in its initial area, a correspondingly shaped additional part, a so-called tongue, is arranged in the known area on the inside of the jacket wall in this known embodiment. However, this double-walled construction of the housing jacket in the area between the start area of the flow channel spiral and the blow-out connector represents a considerable additional outlay in the production of the housing.

Another disadvantage of this known embodiment is that the fan wheel can only be installed through the suction opening, which means that at least one inlet nozzle 20 (FIG. 2) has to be designed as a removable part in order to be able to insert the fan wheel axially from the side.

The invention has for its object to develop a housing for a radial fan of the type mentioned, which is relatively easy to manufacture and in which the fan can be easily installed and removed, which is important for maintenance purposes.

To solve this problem, a housing for a radial fan is proposed according to the preamble of claim 1, which according to the invention has the features mentioned in the characterizing part of claim 1.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention are mentioned in the further claims.

The housing shown in Figures 1 and 2 for a radial fan is constructed from two essentially flat mirror-image side parts 1a, 1b and a jacket 2. The jacket 2 is made of a flat sheet metal strip, the areas of which are angled on the long sides of the sheet metal and each form a slot fold 5 with a slot 6 (Figure 3). This sheet metal provided with the two slot folds 5 is bent in a bending device into an arc shape which corresponds to the spiral circumferential distance from b to c in FIG. 1. The bending takes place on the side facing away from the slot folds 5, so that the slot folds 5 are radially outward hen and the slots 6 are open radially inwards. The side parts 1a, 1b are inserted into these slots, and then the slot folds are pressed together, so that the side parts 1a, 1b are firmly clamped in them. The compression can be done, for example, by hammering, and the cohesion can be strengthened by embossing points in the fold area. In the circumferential range from approximately b to d, the jacket consists of a sheet metal which is bent in the circumferential direction into the shape shown in FIG. 1. This part, which is referred to as tongue 4, does not have any lateral slit folds. Because of the large radius of curvature that the tongue has in the bent state, it would not be possible to bend a sheet metal provided with slot folds.

In order to connect the tongue 4 to the rest of the housing, according to the invention there are two molding strips 11a, 11b constructed in mirror image to one another, of which the molding strip 11a is shown on an enlarged scale in FIGS. 4 and 5. In its longitudinal direction, the molding bar is adapted to the course of the periphery of the side part in the range from b to d in FIG. 1. In cross section (FIG. 4), the molding consists of two flanges 12, 13 which are at right angles to one another, each of which is provided with a slot 12a, 13a. With the slot 13a, the two moldings belonging to a housing are pushed onto one longitudinal side of the tongue 4, and then the tongue 4 with the two moldings is placed on the two side parts 1a, 1b so that the radially outer edges of the side parts in the protrude another slot 12a. The slots 12a, 13a are dimensioned in such a way that they can easily be pushed on by hand with a certain clamping effect of the slots.

At its end facing away from the blow-out nozzle 8, the tongue 4 is offset radially inwards by a short piece 4a. With this stepped end part, the tongue is pushed under the casing 2 when inserted into the housing.

The slots 12a, 13a of the molding are widened at their end facing the jacket 2 over a short distance e (see FIG. 5), so that they can be pushed over the slot fold 5 or the jacket plate. In this region, the radially directed flange 12 is preferably made somewhat longer in the longitudinal direction (circumferential direction) of the molding than the axially directed flange 13a receiving the tongue 4. At the end of the molding strip adjoining the blow-out connector 8, the molding strip is provided with a flange 17 which can be placed on the side part and via which the molding strip can be screwed to the side part by means of a screw 13. In this end region, the radially outward-pointing flange 12 and the cheek 13b (FIG. 4) of the axially directed flange 13 are removed.

The invention provides a housing for a radial fan, in which the casing 2 can be provided with the advantageous slot folds 5 already known and bent. In the strongly curved area a of the flow channel spiral 9, the tongue 4 can be easily inserted with the aid of the molded strips and can be easily removed by loosening the screw 13. When the tongue is removed, there is an opening which extends approximately horizontally from b to c in FIG. The fan wheel 22 can be easily inserted into the housing through this opening. The bearings of the fan wheel are held by a three-arm linkage 21 that can be screwed onto the side parts. Thanks to the radial insertability of the fan wheel 22, the inlet nozzles 20, whose inner diameter is smaller than that of the fan wheel, can be produced by simply impressing the side parts in the region of their central opening.

According to the invention, the moldings are preferably designed as injection molded parts and preferably consist of a suitable plastic.
