Abstract

1. Manhole frame 2.1 According to the accident prevention regulations, an access aid has to be provided at the top end of the manhole steps in road manholes which are entered for inspection. Known access aids are either intrusive or expensive or unsafe. The novel access aid is to be less expensive, versatile and safe. 2.2 The frame and/or the compensating ring underneath contains an integrated receptacle for the access aid. The base of the access aid is adapted to the receptacle. The access aid is used only for entering the manhole. 2.3 The receptacle is preferably a bracket integrally cast with the cast body of the frame or screwed to the same. If the frame has suspension holes for a dirt catcher, the latter can be reshaped in such a way that an access aid can be inserted. <IMAGE>
