Description

The invention relates to a letter punch with a lower part, with a pressure lever articulated on bearing blocks of the lower part, and with punches which can be displaced in guides of the lower part and interact with matrices arranged in the lower part and on their head under the action of a pressure body arranged on the pressure lever against the restoring force of coil springs.

In a known letter punch of this type (USA-A 3485130), pressure bodies are arranged on the underside of the pressure lever, which act on the convexly curved end faces of the punch. The pressure body and the punch punch touch each other in a punctiform manner, so that relatively high surface pressures occur. As a result, a tilting moment is exerted on the punch when the punch is actuated, which causes an undesirable sliding friction of the punch in its guides.

The invention has for its object to improve the known letter punch in such a way that the occurrence of frictional forces aggravating the operation of the letter punch and impairing the function is largely avoided.

To achieve this object, the features specified in claim 1 are proposed. A further advantageous embodiment and further development of the inventive concept result from the dependent claims.

The inventive solution is based on the knowledge that the force application point of the pressure body arranged on the pressure lever on the punch in the course of a stroke describes a pitch circle around the pivot point of the pressure lever and therefore exerts transverse friction on the punch head when the punch is moved vertically. To avoid this, it is proposed according to the invention that between the pressure body and the punch head a convexly curved surface is arranged against the end face of the pressure body and the punch head, which in turn can be tilted in one is arranged articulated on the pressure body and behind the punch head holding member.

In order to ensure reliable guidance of the bridge member, the pressure body has a throat on its end face, into which the bridge member engages. A further improvement in this respect is achieved in that the punch has a widened head relative to its shaft, and that the retaining member pushed onto the punch shaft with a bore can be pressed against the back of the punch head under the action of the helical spring.

The holding member is advantageously articulated on the pressure body by means of a pin which passes through an elongated hole in the holding member. The elongated hole is oriented essentially transversely to the direction of displacement of the punch on the holding member.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the holding member has the shape of a U-shaped bow. The web of the bracket engages behind the punch head, while the two legs protrude beyond the punch head. On the legs are bent inwards, the bridge member between them receiving lips, the spacing of which widens upwards to enable the tilting movement of the bridge member. The lips can be punched out of the thigh material and bent out of it. The punch opening formed thereby should have a smaller height than the bridge member, so that a completely closed cage is formed for the bridge member.

A slot through which the pin passes is expediently arranged in each leg of the U-shaped bent holding member. The pin can additionally be mounted in a cheek of the pressure lever that overlaps the pressure body laterally.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the exemplary embodiment shown schematically in the drawing. Show it:

Mit seiner entgegengesetzten, ebenfalls konvex gekrümmten Schmalseite liegt das Brückenglied 8 gegen den verbreiterten Kopf 51 des Lochstempels 5 an.The letter punch essentially consists of a lower part 1 made of sheet steel or cast aluminum, provided with matrices for the punch 5, not shown, on which a plate 2 made of cast aluminum is riveted or molded onto the guides for the punch 5. A pressure lever 3 is mounted on the lateral bearing blocks 21 of the cast plate 2 by means of a continuous bolt 4. A pressure element 31 is formed on the underside of the pressure lever 3 above each punch 5. The downward-facing end face of the pressure body 31 has a groove 32, in which a bridge member 8, which has the shape of an upright, engages with its one convexly curved narrow side. With its opposite, also convexly curved narrow side, the bridge member 8 bears against the widened head 51 of the punch 5.

A retaining member 7 designed as a U-shaped bracket is used to hold the bridge member 8. The retaining member 7 engages under the head 51 of the punch 5 with its web provided with a bore for the passage of the punch shaft 52 from the upper end against the web 73 of the holding member 7, while it engages with its lower end in an annular recess 22 surrounding the punch 5 of the steel plate 2.

Within the holding members 7, the bridge member 8 can perform a tilting movement, the deflection of which is limited by lips 71 which are cut out of the legs 74 of the holding member 7 and bent inwards. In this way, the bridge member 8 rests with its convexly curved lower narrow surface against the end face of the head 51 of the punch 5 without changing its substantially linear contact with the punch head 51 when the punch is actuated.

In the two legs 74 of the holding members 7, between which the pressure element 31 acting on the bridge element 8 engages, an elongated hole 72 extending transversely to the direction of displacement of the punch 5 is recessed above the lips 71, into which a pressure element 31 and a side cheek 33 of the pressure lever are inserted 3 penetrating pin 9 engages. This ensures that when the pressure lever 3 is pivoted back, the punches 5 are also returned, even if the restoring force of the coil springs 6 should not be sufficient to push the punches 5 back up out of the perforated documents.
