Abstract

Sewing machine for sewing a rubber strip to a tubular end-piece of a garment made from an elastic textile material in order to produce an endless elastic band. The sewing machine comprises a sewing foot (18) with an insertion opening (22) for the elastic band (24), a braking device (48) to resist the insertion movement of the elastic band and provided with two clamping elements (50, 52) which grip the band, and a cutting system (26) which can be motor-driven, in order to cut the rubber band. Bei einer aus der DE-OS 34 10 181 hervorgehenden Nähmaschine, die bei der Bidung des Oberbegriffs des Anspruchs 1 berücksichtigt wurde, ist die Trenneinrichtung zum Durchschneiden des Gummibandes in dem Bereich zwischen der Bremseinrichtung und der Eintrittsöffnung des Drückerfußes angeordnet. Bei dieser bekannten Nähmaschine ist ferner zwischen der Trenneinrichtung und dem Drückerfuß eine zusätzliche Bremseinrichtung vorgesehen, der ein Antrieb zugeordnet ist. Diese zusätzliche Bremseinrichtung ist während des Annähens des Gummibandes unwirksam und wird erst unmittebar vor Betätigung der Trenneinrichtung wirksam, um das abgeschnittene hintere Ende des Gummibandes unter Spannung zu halten. Nach dem Annähen des abgeschnittenen hinteren Endes des Gummibandes an das Kleidungsstück ist es erforderlich, das freie vordere Ende des Gummibandes in die Eintrittsöffnung des Drückerfußes einzuführen, damit es beim nachfolgenden Absenken desselben zusammen mit dem Kleidungsstück von dem Transporteur vorwärtsbewegt wird. Zum Antrieb des Drückerfußes 18 dient ein Pneumatikzylinder 20, der am Geste der Nähmaschine befestigt ist und dessen Kobenstange mit dem Drückerfuß 18 verbunden ist. Der Drückerfuß 18 ist im vorderen Bereich mit einer Eintrittsöffnung 22 für ein Gummiband 24 versehen, das von einem (nicht gezeigten) Vorrat zugeführt wird. Dies bedeutet, daß die Austrittsseite des Kanas 38 nur in einer bestimmten Winkelstellung des Zylinders 30 mit dem Austrittsschlitz 36 der Hülse 32 fluchtet, wogegen die Eintrittsseite des Kanas 38 infolge der konischen Erweiterung über einen größeren Winkebereich des Zylinders 30 mit dem Eintrittsschlitz 34 der Hülse 32 fluchtet. Im Drückerfuß 18 ist ein Schneidmesser 40 angeordnet, dessen Schneidkante sich neben dem Austrittsschlitz 36 der Hülse 32 befindet. Die Bremseinrichtung 48 weist zwei das Gummiband 24 zwischen sich aufnehmende Klemmkörper 50 und 52 auf. Der mit einer Öffnung für die Zuführung des Gummibandes 24 versehene Klemmkörper 52 ist in der Art eines doppelarmigen Hebels ausgebildet und mit dem Klemmkörper 50 schwenkbar verbunden. Der Klemmkörper 52 ist mit der Kraft einer Druckfeder 54 gegen den Klemmkörper 50 belastet. Die Vorspannkraft der Druckfeder 54 ist einstellbar, um die von den beiden Klemmkörpern 50 und 52 auf das zwischen diesen zugeführte Gummiband 24 ausgeübte Bremskraft und damit die Spannung des Gummibandes den jeweiligen Erfordernisses anpassen zu können. Das vom Drückerfuß 18 abliegende freie Ende des beweglichen Klemmkörpers 52 ist mit der Kobenstange eines Pneumatikzylinders 56 gelenkig verbunden, der sich seinerseits am Klemmkörper 50 abstützt. Da die Druckluftdüse 60 im angehobenen Zustand des Drükkerfußes 18 mit der Druckluftquelle verbunden ist, wird das aus dem Drückerfuß 18 herausragende freie Ende des Gummibandes 24 von der austretenden Druckluft nach hinten gegen die Unterseite des Drückerfußes umgelenkt. Durch entsprechende Betätigung des Fußschalters wird sodann der Pneumatikzylinder 20 mit Druckluft beaufschlagt, um den Drückerfuß 18 abzusenken, so daß dieser das Gummiband 24 an den auf der Grundpatte 10 liegenden textien Stoff 46 andrückt und somit festhält. Diese Betätigung des Fußschalters hat zur Folge, daß der Pneumatikzylinder 58 gleichfalls, aber mit einer gewissen Verzögerung mit Druckluft beaufschlagt wird, wodurch die gesamte Bremseinrichtung 48 vom Drückerfuß 18 weg nach oben verschwenkt und demzufolge der vordere Endbereich des Gummibandes 24 gespannt wird. Während diese Positionen des Drückerfußes 18 und der Bremseinrichtung 48 beibeibehalten werden, wird durch entsprechendes Betätigen des Fußschalters der Antrieb für den Transporteur 12 und für die Nähnadel 16 eingeschaltet, so daß das in gedehntem Zustand gehaltene Gummiband 24 mit dem textien Stoff 46 fortlaufend vernäht wird. Da die Bremseinrichtung 48 eingerückt, d.h. der bewegliche Klemmkörper 52 mit der Kraft der Druckfeder 54 gegen den Klemmkörper 50 belastet ist, wird die Zufuhr des Gummibandes 24 gebremst und dieses dadurch in gedehntem Zustand zugeführt. Da es sich bei dem textilen Stoff 46 um den schlauchförmigen Endabschnitt eines Kleidungsstückes, beispielsweise den Beinabschnitt eines Badeanzugs od. dgl. handelt, wird auf diese Weise ein elastischer Bund geschaffen. Kurz bevor das an dem Stoff angenähte Gummiband mit seinem vorderen Ende das zugeführte Gummiband überlappt, sich also am vorderen Ende des Drückerfußes 18 befindet, wird durch entsprechende Betätigung des Fußschalters der Pneumatikzylinder 56 mit Druckluft beaufschlagt, um die Bremseinrichtung 48 auszurücken, so daß der vordere Endbereich des zugeführten Gummibandes 24 spannungslos wird. Diese Betätigung des Fußschalters hat zur Folge, daß der Pneumatikzylinder 42 gleichfalls, aber mit einer gewissen Verzögerung mit Druckluft beaufschlagt wird, so daß der Zylinder 30 gegenüber der Hülse 32 der Trenneinrichtung 26 aus der in Fig. 2a in die in Fig. 2b gezeigte Stellung verdreht wird. Das im Kana 38 des Zylinders 30 befindliche Gummiband wird daher gegen die Kante des Schneidmessers 40 gedrückt und durchtrennt. Der spannungslose hintere Endbereich des Gummibandes 24 wird sodann mit dem Stoff 46 vernäht, wobei er den in gedehntem Zustand angenähten vorderen Endbereich überlappt. Wegen des geringen Abstandes zwischen dem Schneidmesser 40 und der Nähnadel 16, der in der Praxis unter 20 mm liegen kann, ist eine sehr kurze Uberlappung des Gummibandes und eine entsprechende Materialersparnis möglich. Der Nähvorgang ist jetzt abgeschossen, und es wurde ein endloser elastischer Bund an dem Kleidungsstück gebidet. Durch entsprechendes Betätigen des Fußschalters werden die Antriebe des Transporteurs 12 und der Nähnadel 16 abgeschaltet und die Trenneinrichtung 26 wird in die unwirksame und die Bremseinrichtung 48 in die wirksame Stellung zurückgeführt. Sodann werden durch entsprechende Betätigung des Fußschalters die Pneumatikzylinder 20 und 58 mit Druckluft beaufschlagt, wodurch der Drückerfuß 18 angehoben und die gesamte Bremseinrichtung 48 mit einer gewissen Verzögerung nach unten verschwenkt wird. Das hat zur Folge, daß der nach wie vor im Drückerfuß befindliche vordere Endbereich des Gummibandes 24 nach unten aus diesem herausgeschoben und unter dem Einfluß der jetzt aus der Düse 60 ausströmenden Druckluft nach hinten gegen die Unterseite des Drückerfußes hin umgelenkt wird. While these positions of the presser foot 18 and the braking device 48 are maintained, the drive for the feed dog 12 and for the sewing needle 16 is switched on by corresponding actuation of the foot switch, so that the elastic band 24 held in the stretched state is sewn continuously with the textile fabric 46. Since the braking device 48 is engaged, that is to say the movable clamping body 52 is loaded with the force of the compression spring 54 against the clamping body 50, the supply of the rubber band 24 is braked and is thereby fed in a stretched state. Since the textile material 46 is the tubular end section of a piece of clothing, for example the leg section of a swimsuit or the like, an elastic waistband is created in this way. Shortly before the rubber band sewn onto the fabric with its front end overlaps the supplied rubber band, that is to say at the front end of the presser foot 18, the pneumatic cylinder 56 is acted upon by corresponding actuation of the foot switch with compressed air in order to disengage the braking device 48 so that the front one End region of the supplied rubber band 24 is de-energized. This actuation of the foot switch has the consequence that the pneumatic cylinder 42 is also pressurized with compressed air with a certain delay, so that the cylinder 30 relative to the sleeve 32 the separating device 26 is rotated from the position in FIG. 2a to the position shown in FIG. 2b. Because of the small distance between the cutting knife 40 and the sewing needle 16, which in practice can be less than 20 mm, a very short overlap of the rubber band and a corresponding material saving is possible. Sewing is now complete and an endless elastic waistband has been attached to the garment. By appropriate actuation of the foot switch, the drives of the feed dog 12 and the sewing needle 16 are switched off and the separating device 26 is returned to the ineffective position and the braking device 48 to the active position. The pneumatic cylinders 20 and 58 are then pressurized with compressed air by appropriate actuation of the foot switch, as a result of which the presser foot 18 is raised and the entire braking device 48 is pivoted downward with a certain delay. The result of this is that the front end region of the rubber band 24, which is still located in the presser foot, is pushed downwards out of the latter and is deflected backwards under the influence of the compressed air now flowing out of the nozzle 60 toward the underside of the presser foot. The sewing machine is now ready to perform another sewing operation to form an endless elastic waistband.

Abweichend von dem gezeigten Ausführungsbeispiel kann der zum Betätigen der Trenneinrichtung dienende Pneumatikzylinder an einem den Drückerfuß tragenden Schwenkarm starr befestigt sein. Claims (9)

1. A sewing machine for sewing a rubber tape on a tubular end-portion of an article of clothing, made of an elastic, textile material, in order to produce an endless, elastic band, this machine having a sewing needle, a presser-foot which presses the material to be sewn against a base plate, has an entry opening for the rubber tape and can be raised and lowered, by a motor, in relation to the base plate, a feed which is arranged in the base plate and is to feed the material to be sewn, a guiding device conveying the rubber tape to the presser-foot, a braking device working against the advancing movement of the rubber tape and having two clamping elements between which the rubber tape is gripped, and a detaching device which can be motor-driven, is arranged between the braking device and the sewing needle and is for the purpose of cutting through the rubber tape, characterized in that the detaching device (26) is arranged after the entry opening (22) in the presser-foot (18) and in the latter, and in that a drive (56) is associated with the braking device (48) in order to increase the spacing between the two clamping elements (50, 52) directly before actuation of the detaching device (26).
2. A sewing machine in accordance with Claim 1, characterized in that the detaching device (26) arranged in the presser-foot (18) is composed of both a cylinder (30) which is rotatably mounted in the presser-foot (18) and has a diagonal guiding slit (38) and a cutting knife (40) which is arranged on the presser-foot (18) in a stationary manner, and the detaching device has a drive (42) for rotational movement of the cylinder (30).
3. A sewing machine in accordance with Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that a compressed-air nozzle (60) is provided which is directed in the conveying direction of the rubber tape (24) and towards the lower side of the presser-foot (18).
4. A sewing machine in accordance with any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the drives (42, 56) serving to operate the detaching device (26) and to engage and disengage the braking device (48) are jointly controllable.
5. A sewing machine in accordance with Claim 4, characterized in that the drives (42, 56) are controllable by means of a foot switch.
6. A sewing machine in accordance with any one of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the braking device (48) is arranged so that its distance from the presser-foot (18) is variable, and in that a second drive (58) is associated with the braking device (48), which drive induces the latter to approach or move away from the presser-foot (18).
7. A sewing machine in accordance with Claim 6, characterized in that control means are provided so that the movement of the braking device (48) has a time lag in relation to the movement of the presser-foot (18).
8. A sewing machine in accordance with Claim 6 or 7, characterized in that the drives (20, 58) serving to raise and lower the presser-foot (18) and to move the braking device (48) to-and-fro are jointly controllable.
9. A sewing machine in accordance with Claim 8, characterized in that the drives (20, 58) are controllable by means of a foot switch.
