Description

The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner according to the preamble of claim 1. This vacuum cleaner can be both a floor vacuum cleaner and a handheld vacuum cleaner.

In the previously known vacuum cleaners, the vacuum cleaner housing usually consists of a lower and an upper housing part, which are firmly connected to one another after the installation of the components to be accommodated in the housing, such as the motor and the associated connections. The part of the housing which covers the dust space is connected to a pivotable flap which allows access to the dust space for exchanging the dust bag and forms an airtight seal of the dust space in the closed state.

This construction of the vacuum cleaner housings which have been customary to date is complex and requires a relatively large amount of work and time when assembling the vacuum cleaner. The pivotable flap of the dust chamber also tends to damage during prolonged use, which in particular can result in improper actuation of the flap, that the mounting of the flap and the required tight closure can no longer be guaranteed. It is then necessary to replace the flap in order to restore the functionality of the vacuum cleaner. In addition, the scope of the The vacuum cleaner described above is usually limited to the pure suction activity.

The present invention has for its object to improve a vacuum cleaner in such a way that the construction of the vacuum cleaner housing is simplified and the assembly of the vacuum cleaner is simplified, so that the manufacturing and maintenance costs of the vacuum cleaner are reduced, and that the area of application, in particular of the handy small vacuum cleaners such as e.g. Car vacuum cleaner is being expanded.

Weitere vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen ergeben sich aus den Ansprüchen 2 bis 18.This object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. Further advantageous embodiments result from claims 2 to 18.

The vacuum cleaner according to the invention has a housing consisting of two parts, one of which has a drawer shape in which the components to be accommodated in the housing are accommodated. This drawer-shaped housing part is slidably received in a second housing part forming a frame, which can tightly close the open surface of the drawer-shaped housing part. The drawer-shaped housing part containing the dust chamber and the motor chamber can thus be pulled out of the other housing part like a drawer from a cabinet, for example to open the dust chamber and to replace the dust bag located therein. The assembly of the vacuum cleaner is extremely simple, since after the components to be accommodated in the housing have been installed in the drawer-shaped housing part, only its insertion into the second housing part is required in order to complete the assembly of the housing. The hitherto usual fixed connection between a lower and an upper housing part and the arrangement of a pivotable flap in the area of the dust chamber are eliminated.

The required tight seal between the two mutually displaceable housing parts is ensured by suitable seals. A locking mechanism is preferably provided which defines the tight closed position of the two housing parts.

Although the principle according to the invention can be used for both floor and handheld vacuum cleaners, it is particularly well suited for small and light handheld vacuum cleaners such as car vacuum cleaners and battery-operated small vacuum cleaners, in which the displaceably interlocking housing parts are particularly easy to handle.

The drawer-shaped first housing part should expediently have an open upper side, since the components to be accommodated are easy to install from above and are easily accessible for replacement. However, the arrangement could also be such that the first housing part has an open side surface, it also being conceivable that two side surfaces are completely or partially open.

The second housing part, which forms a kind of frame, can completely encompass the first housing part in the closed position, with the exception of one end face. In this particularly preferred embodiment, good guidance of the inner drawer can be achieved with suitable guide components, since the drawer moves as in a box. The required tight seal must also be ensured in a simple manner.

Alternatively, the second housing part can only cover the first housing part in a U-shape.

The drawer-shaped housing part is divided into several interior spaces by partition walls, whereby at least one dust bag compartment in the opening direction and a rear engine compartment are created. It is particularly advantageous that, in addition to the front dust bag compartment, there is also a compartment for holding accessories, so that these accessories are always at hand when using the vacuum cleaner. If the vacuum cleaner is battery-operated, a separate compartment for the batteries can also be provided, for example on the underside of the drawer in a recess in the housing part.

It is also proposed that stops limit the exit of the drawer-shaped housing part from the second housing part so that the engine compartment is not accessible to a user. This is a precautionary measure that prevents improper intervention in the engine compartment, while the stops for opening it can be removed in the case of necessary repair measures in the engine compartment.

It is further proposed that in a vacuum cleaner provided with a molded handle, this handle is hollow and provided with a rear air outlet opening, the inner cavity of the handle communicating with the engine compartment of the housing, and that a switch slide selectively the air outlet slots of the housing or can close the connection to the cavity of the handle. With this design, the vacuum cleaner can optionally be used as a blower, for example to heat a charcoal grill. This additional mode of operation is particularly advantageous in the case of a battery-operated small vacuum cleaner.

In order to also be able to operate the vacuum cleaner independently of an internal energy source, it is advantageously provided to provide a recess on the underside of the drawer-shaped housing part for receiving an energy supply device. It can be, for example, commercially available batteries or a rechargeable accumulator. These energy supply devices can be reached from the underside of the pulled-out drawer-shaped housing part, and the depression can be closed with a removable cover.

However, in order to be able to connect the vacuum cleaner to an energy source that is also outside the device, an additional depression is provided in at least one of the two housing parts. This recess is used to store a power cable and can be easily opened if necessary. If an external energy source is available, the motor of the vacuum cleaner can then also be started without stressing the internal energy source. The switch-on / switch-off device is advantageously designed such that it is no longer possible to switch the vacuum cleaner motor on / off when the housing part is pulled out. This can be achieved, for example, in that the connection of the energy source to the motor is interrupted when the housing part is pulled out. The on / off switch can also be attached to one of the parts that can be pulled out of the housing part, in particular to the drawer-shaped housing part, so that it can no longer be actuated when the housing part is pulled out.

So that the drawer-shaped housing part remains firmly connected to the other housing part in the closed state, a locking device is provided between these two housing parts. The locking device can consist of locking tongues which are arranged on the drawer-shaped housing part and engage in corresponding locking devices of the other housing part. This locking device can be released, for example, by slight pressure and simultaneous pulling on the drawer-shaped housing part.

An additional air duct system in the interior of the vacuum cleaner and a corresponding switching device can ensure that the exhaust air from the vacuum cleaner exits to the front through the suction nozzle. This further embodiment ensures good handling of the vacuum cleaner as a blower.

Das zweite Gehäuseteil 5 umgreift das erste Gehäuseteil 4 in der Verschlußstellung vollständig mit Ausnahme der vorderen Stirnseite 7.In Fig. 1, the housing 1 of a vacuum cleaner with the rear wheels 2 and the front suction nozzle 3 is shown. The housing 1 consists of a drawer-shaped first housing part 4 which is slidably received in a second box-shaped housing part 5. The drawer-shaped housing part 4 has an open top 6, while the other peripheral surfaces are closed. The second housing part 5 completely engages around the first housing part 4 in the closed position, with the exception of the front end face 7.

The first housing part 4 is divided into two interior spaces by two partitions 8 and 9, which creates a front dust bag space 10, an adjacent compartment 11 for accessories of the vacuum cleaner and a rear engine compartment 12.

Stops, not shown, limit the extraction of the housing part 4 from the housing part 5 in such a way that the engine compartment 12 is not accessible to a user, but the dust bag compartment 10 and the accessory compartment 11 can be opened to such an extent that the dust bag 13 is easily replaceable and not shown accessories can be easily removed.

In Fig. 2, the housing 1 of the handheld vacuum cleaner is shown in the closed state, so that only the second housing part 5 can be seen. At the rear end of the housing part 5, a handle 14 is formed, which is hollow and is provided with a rear opening 15. The cavity of the handle 14 communicates with the engine compartment of the vacuum cleaner.

In the vicinity of the attachment of the handle 14 at the upper, rear end of the housing part 5 there are air outlet slots 16 in the area of the top of the housing. A switch slide, not shown, can optionally close the air outlet slots 16 of the housing part 5 or the connection to the cavity of the handle 14, so that the handheld vacuum cleaner can also be used as a blower. In this case, the air flows out of the engine compartment in the direction of arrows A in FIG. 2 through the handle 14 and emerges from the opening 15.

The closed position of the two housing parts 4 and 5 is determined by a locking mechanism which can be released by an opening button 17 in the area of the top of the housing.

As can also be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3, an elongated housing recess 19 extending in the direction of the suction nozzle is provided in the center of the housing part 5. A pin 18 engages in this housing recess, which, in the operational state (FIG. 2) of the hand-held vacuum cleaner, bears against the rear end of the housing recess 19. The bolt 18 is firmly connected to the drawer-shaped housing part 4 and does not protrude into the space behind it.

As shown in FIG. 3, the bolt 18 slides in the housing recess 19 when the housing part 4 is pulled out until it comes to bear against the end of the recess 19 serving as a pull-out stop 20. Since the top of the housing part 4 is open, the dust bag and accessories located in the interior can be easily replaced or reached. The engine compartment behind it, however, remains covered by the housing part 5. A continuous partition 22 is located between the part of the interior which contains the dust bag and the accessories and the engine compartment. The pull-out stop 20 is for maintenance and repair work in which the engine compartment must be reached, for example by pushing in the bolt 18 or to overcome other measures.

On the underside of the housing part 4, a housing recess 23, which can be closed by a cover, is provided. The power supply devices, such as batteries or a rechargeable battery, can be accommodated in it. Furthermore, this recess 23 can also additionally receive a power cable, possibly even on a corresponding cable reel, the one end of which can be connected to a power source - such as a cigarette lighter in a motor vehicle - exits at a point on the housing part 5. The batteries can be renewed with the housing part 4 pulled out on its underside.

This plug connection consists of conductor tongues 26 and mating contacts 27. By pulling out the drawer-shaped housing part the plug connections are separated, whereby the connection of the energy source to the drive unit is interrupted when the housing part is pulled out. Furthermore, an on / off switch 21 can be seen, which is attached to the rear of the drawer-shaped housing part and can be actuated in the closed state by the actuation button 21ʹ. In the pulled-out state, the actuation button 21ʹ remains on the frame-shaped housing part, while the on / off device 21 with the drawer-shaped housing part moves away from the actuation button 21ʹ and can therefore no longer be actuated.

A locking device 24 is provided between the drawer-shaped and the frame-shaped housing part in order to hold the two housing parts firmly together in the closed state. This locking device can for example consist of locking tongues 25 which are attached to the top of the drawer-shaped housing part and can be brought into engagement with - not shown - corresponding locking devices which are provided on the frame-like housing part.

Instead of the duct system with the rear opening 15 accommodated in the handle 14, another duct system can also be provided which, when the drawer-shaped housing part is pulled out, connects the exhaust air space to the suction nozzle. For this purpose, the outlet slots 16 and the intake port inlet in the dust bag must then be closed. The closing of the outlet slots 16 and the intake port inlet into the dust bag can either be mechanically actuated by the relative movement of the two housing parts against one another or electrically when the motor 18 is switched on. The supply air would be sucked in through the exhaust air space and exit again through the suction nozzle 3.
