Claims (7)

1. Method of removing coupling members (7) from a slide fastener having a pair of coupling member supporting bands (6), a spirally or meander shaped coupling members (7), each member includes a head section (13), a middle section (12) and a foot section (11), wherein the coupling members (7) are located at opposite longitudinal edges and coupled to each other, wherein one disengages said coupling members (7) and arranges said supporting band (6) vertical and symmetrically relative to a center plane (8), arranges one section of said supporting bands (6) such that their coupling members (7) are aligned with the path of a cutting member (5), positions the coupling members (7) which are to be removed relative to said cutting members (5), clamps the section of said supporting bands (6), clamps the head section (13) of said coupling members to be removed, cuts said coupling members (7) and pulls off the coupling members (7) clamped at their head section (13) in a direction away from said supporting members (6) in order to produce a coupling memberless section, characterized in that one positions the supporting bands (6) inclined relative to said center plane (8) and cuts the middle section (12) spaced from said supporting bands (6) in a lateral direction relative to the center plane (8) in the region of the weaving-in board in order to produce a coupling memberless section after pulling off said cut coupling members (7).
2. Method of claim 1, characterized in that one cuts said middle section (12) of said coupling members (7) above said weaving-in board.
3. Method according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that one cuts the middle section (12) of a further coupling member (7) additionally below the weaving-in board in order to produce a half-tooth beside said coupling memberless section.
4. An apparatus to perform the method according to claim 1, having a stationary guide block (1) to uncouple said coupling members (7) and to align said support bands (6) relative to a center plane (8) and to each other, a countersupport (2) movable relative to said stationary guide block (1) to align said coupling members (7), a device to position said cutting members (5) relative to said coupling members (7), a clamping device (3) movable relative to said guide block (1) in order to clamp sections of the supporting bands, two gripping members (4) located at said countersupport (2) and movable relative to said guide block (1) in order to clamp the head sections of the positioned coupling members, and two cutting members (5), each movable relative to said guide block (1) in order to cut at least a number of the positioned coupling members, wherein said countersupport (2) and said two gripping members (4) are together movable away from said guide block (1) in order to remove the cut coupling members from said supporting bands, characterized in that said guide block (1) includes two surfaces inclined relative to said center plane (8) and to each other, said clamping device is a uniform clamping member (3) which includes two surfaces formed complementary to the surfaces on said guide block (1) in order to clamp sections of the supporting bands, which sections are aligned to each other symmetrically and in order to arrange said coupling members (7) parallely to said center plane (8) such that said middle section (12) of said coupling members (7) are exposed above said gripping members (4) and that said cutting members (5) are reciprocatable in a direction laterally to said center plane (8) in order to cut the exposed middle section (12) of said coupling members (7) alongside said weaving-in board (14).
5. Apparatus of claim 4, characterized in that said cutting members (5) are arranged to cut said middle sections (12) of a predetermined number of coupling members at the same time above said weaving-in board (14).
6. Apparatus according to one of the claims 5 or 6, characterized in that a second cutting member (15) is associated to each cutting member (5) in order to cut additionally the middle section (12) of another coupling member (7) for providing a half-tooth.
7. Apparatus of claim 6, characterized in that said second cutting member (15) is reciprocatable independently of said first cutting member (5).
