Definitions
- the invention relates to a heat exchanger according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the object of the invention is to create a heat exchanger which provides improved, in particular more uniform, heat dissipation ensures.
- the design effort is considerably reduced.
- the upper entry opening of the air suction line is expediently widened.
- the widening can be conical, and the free edge of the inlet opening is advantageously spherical in order to encourage gas or air bubbles to slide into the air suction line without resistance.
- the air suction line is led into the return line, in which the coolant is pumped back into the engine by the cooling water pump, the flow velocity is relatively high in the area of the lower mouth of the air suction line. This creates a strong negative pressure within the air suction line, which accelerates the flow within the suction line and in particular also affects the inlet opening for the gas or air bubbles. In this way it is achieved that gas or air accumulations are safely extracted from the upper water tank through a comparatively thin suction line.
- a conventional heat exchanger tube can be used for the air suction line, which is extended from the outset beyond the bottoms or to which extensions are soldered.
- the expansion can be carried out by an easy-to-manage expansion using any conical tool.
- the construction according to the invention has the further advantage that a special ventilation tube can be omitted. In addition to a reduction in material and labor costs, this offers the possibility of saving weight and also avoids the additional sealing and space problems that occur with external ventilation tubes.
- the radiator 10 shown in FIG. 1 has an upper water tank 12 with an air separation area and a lower one Water box 14, between which a heat exchanger register 16 extends.
- the register 16 consists of heat exchanger tubes 18 and fins 20 which are in good thermal contact with the tubes 18. Warm cooling water passes from the engine through the inlet connector 26 into the radiator 10 and the tubes 18, from there into the lower water tank 14 and is transferred via a return line 28 discharged.
- the tubes 18 are fastened in suitable floors 30 and 32 by means of brazing.
- An air suction line 34 is also mounted in the floors 30 and 32 and corresponds in its cross section in the area of the register 16 completely to the tubes 18. The air suction line 34 is extended up to far into the upper water tank 12.
- An upper inlet opening 36 of the air suction line 34 for gas or air bubbles ends at a water level 38, which is established during normal operation of the radiator 10.
- the inlet opening 36 of the air suction line 34 is flared, so that its cross section is larger than the cross section of the air suction line 34 in the region of the register 16.
- the air suction line 34 is also extended downward beyond the bottom 32. Its lower mouth 40 is located in a connecting piece of the return line 28, which is aligned with the air suction line 34.
- the lower mouth 40 of the air suction line 34 is also flared. It is advantageously located in the middle of the connecting piece of the return line 28, so that a uniform flow can take place.
- the extensions 33 and 35 of the air suction line 36 can also be formed by pipe sections soldered to them.
- An area of accelerated flow in the return line 28 is used with the air suction device in order to pump the air out of the radiator and to separate it at a suitable point.
- the accelerated flow initially results due to the narrowing due to the air suction line 34 inserted into the return line, but on the other hand it is also increased by the conical widening of the lower mouth 40 of the air suction line.
- the high flow velocity at the sharp edge of the mouth 40 creates a strong negative pressure. This acts on the entire air suction line 34 and causes the flow in the air suction line 34 to be considerably greater than the flow in the tubes 18. Nevertheless, the water flowing in the air suction line 34 is also passed through the heat exchanger, so that cooling also occurs here and the efficiency of the radiator is not reduced. Due to the strong negative pressure, air bubbles, air and / or water are sucked in at the upper inlet opening 36 of the air suction line 34, air or air bubbles preferably being sucked off, since these tend to collect in the upper water tank 12.
- the lower part of the air extraction line 34 is shown.
- the air suction line 34 as well as the heat exchanger tubes 18 have an oval cross section with a length / width ratio of 1: 5 to 10. This is advantageous for the improved effect and not disadvantageous for the air suction line 34.
- Due to the conical widening of the lower mouth 40 of the air suction line 34 the lower mouth 40 of the air suction line 34 appears narrower in the view shown in FIG. 2; in fact, however, it is essentially circular in cross section and has a larger cross section than the air suction line 34 in the region of the register 16.
- a radiator with three tubes 18 arranged one behind the other is shown. Instead of the middle tube, the air suction line 34 is provided, which is located exactly above the return port 28.
- a hose 46 which is fastened to the connection piece by means of a clamp 48, is plugged onto the connection piece as a return line 28 is.
- Fig. 3 the connector of the return line 28 with the lower mouth 40 of the air suction line 34 located therein is shown on an enlarged scale.
- the water flows generated during operation are indicated by arrows 50.
- the effective cross section of the return line 28 is smaller than in the other areas.
- there is a region of higher negative pressure here which, using the water jet pump principle known per se, sucks gas or air bubbles out of the radiator through the suction line 34.

Description
The invention relates to a heat exchanger according to the preamble of claim 1.
It is known to provide a so-called secondary flow line in a heat exchanger designed as a cooler, via which air that collects in the upper water tank is extracted. An attempt was made to increase the suction capacity by arranging a partition with a comparatively small opening between the heat exchanger register and the upper water tank. The bypass line has a larger free cross section than the opening in the partition. This arrangement has a comparatively low suction capacity. If there is a large amount of air in the cooler, there is a risk that the existing air can no longer be removed completely, so that the cooling capacity drops.
Furthermore, according to another construction, it is known to make the free cross section of the opening in the partition larger than that of the bypass line. This is to ensure that the air bubbles from the heat exchanger, which is also designed as a cooler, can reach the upper water tank of the cooler more quickly and the cooler can be filled with the coolant more quickly. However, this arrangement also offers only a low suction capacity, so that the cooler is filled with air in the event of a large amount of air and can no longer provide cooling capacity. This arrangement with the comparatively large opening in the dividing wall therefore requires the separation of possibly occurring larger amounts of gas via the pressure relief valve arranged in the filler neck, since these cannot be pumped off via the bypass line.
Since gas or air bubbles contained in the coolant also reduce the output of radiators arranged within the cooling circuit of internal combustion engines, the object of the invention is to create a heat exchanger which provides improved, in particular more uniform, heat dissipation ensures.
To achieve this object, the characterizing features of claim 1 are proposed according to the invention.
This has the advantage that the gas or air bubbles rising in the heat exchanger or radiator and collecting in the upper region of the upper water tank are constantly removed. As a result, the radiator is acted upon more uniformly and completely by the coolant, so that the thermal output of the radiator is increased considerably. Due to the increased power output, the radiator can be made even more compact.
Because one of the heat exchanger tubes forms the air suction line at the same time, the design effort is considerably reduced. In order to facilitate the introduction of the gas or air bubbles, the upper entry opening of the air suction line is expediently widened. The widening can be conical, and the free edge of the inlet opening is advantageously spherical in order to encourage gas or air bubbles to slide into the air suction line without resistance.
Because the air suction line is led into the return line, in which the coolant is pumped back into the engine by the cooling water pump, the flow velocity is relatively high in the area of the lower mouth of the air suction line. This creates a strong negative pressure within the air suction line, which accelerates the flow within the suction line and in particular also affects the inlet opening for the gas or air bubbles. In this way it is achieved that gas or air accumulations are safely extracted from the upper water tank through a comparatively thin suction line.
It is also particularly advantageous that a conventional heat exchanger tube can be used for the air suction line, which is extended from the outset beyond the bottoms or to which extensions are soldered. In the case of the usually oval or in the ratio of 1: 5 to 10 elongated tubes, the expansion can be carried out by an easy-to-manage expansion using any conical tool. The construction according to the invention has the further advantage that a special ventilation tube can be omitted. In addition to a reduction in material and labor costs, this offers the possibility of saving weight and also avoids the additional sealing and space problems that occur with external ventilation tubes.
From a thermal point of view, it is advantageous that only one of the existing heat exchanger tubes is used for the ventilation. This does not impair the performance of the radiator, in particular if the heat exchanger tube designed as an air suction line is arranged in the central region of the radiator.
- Fig. 2 einen Schnitt gemäß Linie II-II in Fig. 1 und

- Fig. 2 shows a section along line II-II in Fig. 1 and
- Fig. 3 shows a detail section of the return line of FIG. 1 on an enlarged scale.
The
The
An upper inlet opening 36 of the
The
An area of accelerated flow in the
In Fig. 3 the connector of the
