The training device for improving the golf swing includes a base provided with spatially positioned guide means for interaction with the face of a golf club head. The base has two rods disposed at an angle to each other, one rod being in the form of an arc segment and the other rod being straight and extending parallel to the target line. The guide means includes an obliquely upwardly extending barrier rail mounted on the arcuate rod and delineating the path of the upstroke of the golf swing.

Description

The invention relates to a training device for improving the golf swing, with a base lying on the ground and an attached, interacting with the club blade of a golf club, spatially extending guideway.

A training device is already known in the prior art, which is designed such that a spherical curve is mounted on the base part designed as a frame, along which the club blade of a golf club is to be guided in order to perform the sport-appropriate swing (US Pat. No. 2,807,472) ). This arrangement has a very complicated structure and is correspondingly expensive and cumbersome to use.

The prior art also includes a training device for improving the golf swing, in which a self-contained curve is attached to a frame-like frame, the golf player having the task of guiding the golf club along this curved path (US Pat. No. 2,813,721). This device also has the disadvantages mentioned at the outset.

Furthermore, a golf swing trainer is known, which works with light barriers, it being possible to determine via electronic evaluation at which club head speed the golf player hit the ball (US Pat. No. 3,776,555). This device is also cumbersome to handle and evaluate, so that the learning success is low. Other golf trainer devices are known from U.S. Patent 2,790,642, U.S. Patent 4,322,084, U.S. Patent 3,697,206, U.S. Patent 4,468,034 and U.S. Patent 4,355,809. However, all of these devices are not suitable for simply teaching beginners and advanced golfers how to perform the correct golf swing.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a training device of the type mentioned at the outset which, with a simple construction, reliably ensures that the golfer executes the efficient golf swing.

This object is achieved in that the base part consists of two rods at an angle to one another, one rod being designed as a circular arc segment and the other rod as a straight line which can be arranged parallel to the theoretical target line directed towards the target hole, and in that the guideway is mounted on the circular arc segment , is an obliquely upward-facing barrier that limits the turn-in curve and, in plan view, intersects the target line in the area of a golf ball (B) to be tapped off. This construction controls the specification of the downswing curve and the angle of arrival of the club blade in a simple and advantageous manner. The sloping upward barrier defines a theoretical level that limits the aforementioned downswing curve and an angle of arrival. This barrier guarantees the so-called "inside" path of the club blade to the ball and prevents the club blade from reaching the ball to be struck from outside the target line.

In a further embodiment of the invention, the two rods of the base part can each be designed as a tube, it being possible for the barrier to be displaceable on the circular arc segment and to be rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the circular arc segment. This provides extensive adjustment options in a simple manner according to the player's playing strength and his body dimensions.

In a further embodiment of the invention, a sleeve with a locking device can be mounted on the circular arc segment, which sleeve has a radially extending guide sleeve for receiving the barrier. In this case, the locking device can be a threaded pin with actuating handle that is guided in the sleeve and acts on the circular arc segment. By means of this threaded pin with actuating handle, the barrier can be quickly and easily set to function correctly in accordance with the inclined position and the arrangement on the circular arc segment.

In addition, according to a further feature, there is the possibility that a displaceable orientation rod is mounted on the straight rod running parallel to the finish line. This sliding orientation bar is used to take the correct position in relation to the golf ball.

Furthermore, according to another feature, a displaceable knee bar projecting obliquely upwards can be arranged on the straight bar running parallel to the finish line. This knee bar also serves as an additional aid.

In order to make the entire arrangement transportable and thus versatile, in a further embodiment of the invention the circular arc segment can be fastened to a sleeve in which the straight rod is mounted in a lockable manner.

According to Fig. 1, the training device for improving the golf swing consists of a base part 1 and an attached, interacting with the club blade of a golf club not shown and shown, spatially extending guideway. Here, the base part 1 lies on the floor, whereas the Depending on requirements, the guideway protrudes diagonally upwards or can lie against the floor. A golf ball B can be arranged beneath the guideway, which lies on a theoretical target line Z, which is directed toward a hole H designated by a flag F.

The base part 1 of the training device consists of two rods 2 and 3 which are at an angle to one another, one rod being designed as a circular arc segment 2 and the other rod as a straight line 3 arranged parallel to the finish line. The guideway is designed as a barrier 5, which is mounted on the circular arc segment 2, projects obliquely upwards and delimits the onset curve. This barrier 5 intersects the finish line in the area of the golf ball B to be struck. The two rods 2 and 3 of the base part 1 can e.g. be designed as a tube. The barrier 5 is e.g. a plastic stick; a coated metal rod or the like can also be used instead.

On the straight rod 3, an orientation rod 11 arranged at right angles thereto can be arranged, the golfer standing on both sides of the orientation rod 11, as indicated by dashed lines. Furthermore, an obliquely upward protruding knee bar 12 can be slidably arranged on the straight bar 3 in order to control the functionally correct movement of the golfer.

From Fig. 2 it can be seen that the circular arc segment 2 is rigidly connected to a sleeve 13 into which the straight rod 3 can be inserted. The orientation rod 11 is mounted on a lockable sleeve 14 and lockable on the straight rod 3. In the same way, the knee bar 12 can be attached to the straight bar 3 via a sleeve 15 and a locking device.

It can also be seen from FIG. 2 that the barrier 5 is supported on the circular arc segment 2 via a sleeve 6 and a guide sleeve 8 fastened thereon. 5 and 6, this sleeve 6 is shown in more detail. As can be seen, the guide sleeve 8 projects radially obliquely upward from the sleeve 6 and is at an angle to the locking device 7. This locking device 7 consists of a collar welded to the sleeve 6 with an internal thread and a threaded pin 9 with an actuating handle 10. The threaded pin 9 is screwed into the collar 16 and into the sleeve 6 and can thus act on the circular arc segment 2, whereby the sleeve 6 is locked with the guide sleeve 8. The guide sleeve 8 is designed so that the inside diameter corresponds to the diameter of the barrier 5, so that it is simply inserted into the guide sleeve 8.

In Fig. 3 the inclined position of the barrier 5 is shown in more detail. This barrier 5 can be tilted from the floor as required. The circular arc segment 2 is designed such that the barrier 5 can be pivoted upward by approximately a maximum of 10 degrees with respect to the target line Z and downwards by approximately a maximum of 20 degrees.

There is also the possibility that the circular arc segment 2 and the straight rod 3 are each designed as a solid rod.

The training device according to the invention is arranged according to FIG. 1 so that the straight rod 3 lies on a straight line G, which runs parallel to the target line Z. Then the barrier 5 is inserted into the guide sleeve 8 of the sleeve 6 mounted on the circular arc segment. This unit, consisting of barrier 5 and sleeve 6 is now shifted on the circular arc segment in the manner in which the club head path shown schematically by I is to run. If the golf swing is not performed correctly, the club hits the barrier 5 so that the error can be determined immediately by touching it. The barrier 5 thus defines a specification and forces the correct, from the inside coming course of the club to the ball B. It is advantageously prevented that the club blade of the golf club comes to the ball from outside the finish line.

There is also the possibility of aligning the barrier 5 with the finish line Z and letting it rest on the floor, the guide sleeve 8 being located in the extension of the finish line Z. The barrier 5 here has the function of target orientation instead of the function of swing orientation.

The aforementioned locking devices can e.g. also consist of plastic castings, which can be provided with clamping screws for locking.

The entire device is very simple in construction and handling and, due to the inclined position of the barrier in cooperation with the circular arc segment, guarantees that the golf swing is exercised in the correct manner.
