Description

The invention relates to devices, for example military charges, placed in devices such as rockets, and the starting of which must take place during the flight of the device. These devices or rockets can be launched from fixed or mobile firing stations, and in particular from a rocket launcher.

Certain military charges, such as arrow charges, must be fired before the missile arrives at the target. Indeed, these charges project one or more projectile bursts in a manner determined in advance. For these bursts to be effective, it is necessary for the charge to be started up precisely, that is to say at a determined distance from the target. For example, with regard to the arrowheads, the latter have a maximum efficiency when they are launched at about 500m from the target, the carrier can be launched at several thousand meters from the target. At the start, the machine must have time information to be able to trigger the operation of the load at the desired time. At the start, the ignition of the machine is transmitted to the latter via a control wire. The data relating to the timing for the start of the military charge are transmitted to the latter by means of induction coils placed both on the carrier system and on the ammunition.

The technical characteristics mentioned by the preamble of claim 1, combined together, therefore form part of the described state of the prior art as well as of the present invention.

This order transmission system has a drawback which is the need to have a carrier system equipped with such coils to be able to transmit the timing orders, when it is a question of launching an ammunition whose military load must operate in flight course. There is therefore a problem of standardization of both the carrier system and the ammunition.

The object of the invention is to remedy this drawback by modifying the system and the method for transmitting timing orders concerning the starting of the military charge.

The object of the invention is a method and a system for transmitting temporal information concerning the starting of a device, placed in a machine launched from a carrier system, the firing control of the 'machine being transmitted to it from said carrier system by means of a firing control wire, characterized in that it consists in using said control wire to transmit said information to said device.

  • -Figure 1, un diagramme du système selon l'invention ;
The invention and its characteristics will be better understood on reading the description which follows, and which is accompanied by the following figures:
  • FIG. 1, a diagram of the system according to the invention;
  • -Figure 2,3,4 and 5, forms of signals involved in the system according to the invention.

Cet engin est lancé à partir d'un système porteur 4, en l'occurrence un tube lance roquette. sReferring to Figure 1 the device to initiate 1, for example a military charge, is in a device 2, such as a rocket. This device is launched from a carrier system 4, in this case a rocket launcher tube. s

As in the prior art, the timing signal for switching on the device 1 is made by means of a rangefinder 16 and a computer 3 of the carrier system. At the time of the firing, the firing signal of the machine is supplied to the latter via a control wire 5, and this on the initiative of the shooter. This signal for firing the machine can be formed by the front edge of a positive pulse; this signal is shown in Figure 2.

According to the invention, the signal communicated to the guided vehicle just before its ignition, and which is the timing of the starting of the device, is also transmitted by the control wire 5, and not by coils placed both on the carrier system and both on the periphery of the machine. It should be noted that this timing information was previously transmitted in analog form. According to the present invention, it is planned to transmit this digital information, which makes it possible to use the on-board computer 3 when the carrier system is constituted by an aircraft, the craft then being a rocket.

The signal carrying the time information at the end of which the device must be triggered, consists, with reference to FIG. 3, of pulses of the order of Mhz spaced apart by intervals of the order of 100 microseconds. In this figure; the bits have been represented with different pulse durations (for example, 100 s for the "zeros", 300lis for the "one" but this is only an exemplary embodiment).

In the machine 2, a high-pass filter 6 is used which allows the frequencies of the pulses to pass. The output of this filter is applied to a memory 7 which stores the successive bits constituting the time information. On the other hand, the control wire 5 is also applied to the input of a low-pass filter 8 which allows the frequencies of the firing pulses of the machine and of switching on to pass. The output of this wire is applied to a time delay 9 which is triggered when the edge is controlled by a positive pulse as shown in FIG. 2.

It is expected before this ignition of the machine, a signal of awareness and switching on of the electronics used to record the time information. This signal is represented in FIG. 4 and can consist of a negative pulse of a duration at least as long as that of the transmission of the digital time information. This signal is applied to a trigger circuit of the electronics 10 via a diode 11 allowing only negative voltages to pass. This electronic start-up circuit sensitizes the memory 7 and the time delay 9, as well as a possible clock intended for the operation of the various circuits.

These signals having to be transmitted by the same control wire 5, they are superimposed, by means of a summing circuit 15, in the corresponding manner in the representation of FIG. 5. First, the negative pulse of awareness of the electronics appears at time T1. This sensitization lasts until time T2, the interval T1, T2 being greater than the interval necessary to transmit the bits constituting the time information which must be transmitted to the memory. At time T2 the signal is again returned to a reference potential which can be zero. At an instant T3 subsequent to instant T2, the positive information corresponding to the firing of the propellant of the guided vehicle is transmitted. The frequencies used for the electronic triggering and firing pulses of the thruster are of the same order of magnitude and can pass through the high-pass filter 8.

In the same way that a diode 11 was placed before the electronic start-up circuit, we can do the same by using a second diode 12 before the input of the high-pass filter allowing only the pulses to pass. positive, and a third diode 13 on the strand 14 intended for firing the propellant of the guided vehicle.

It is noted on the one hand that the circuits and element necessary for the transmission of the time information, and which consisted of coils or windings and additional circuits, are eliminated. On the other hand, the new elements necessary for the implementation of the invention are very few since they consist of two filters and three diodes, the timer and the memory already existing in the old circuits, even if these worked analogically.

A machine or a rocket equipped with these few elements can obviously be adapted and therefore launched by a carrier system on which there is a rangefinder and electronic circuits capable of developing the digital signal constituting the time information, and applying it to the control wire 5. The device is then a military charge, and in particular, an arrow charge. It is therefore possible to adapt to different support systems such as aircraft (planes or helicopters) or rocket launchers carried by an infantryman, ammunition or devices, guided or not, such as rockets comprising the elements which come from be described. This therefore multiplies the possibilities for adapting guided vehicles carrying military loads on different support systems.
