Abstract

The case has wheels and a handle arranged at the top region of one shell of the case. Said handle can be folded down into a position of rest and folded up so that it projects forwards when the case is moved. The handle (1) has a closed bar (2), corresponding in its inside width (W) to the width of a hand, with a foot part (3) arranged so as to be swivellable in a hinge (4). The handle (1) is arranged in a depression (5) which surrounds it locally and lies in said depression in the folded-down position in alignment with the plane (x-x) of the case shell (6 or 7). The bar (2) is mounted off centre on the foot part (3) attached to one of the two case shells (6 or 7) and covers surface areas (8 or 9) of the case shells (6, 7) transversely to the separation plane (y-y). A partial region (10 or 11) of the depression (5) surrounding the handle (1) is present in each case in both case shells (6 and 7). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a suitcase with rollers arranged at one end of its base and a handle arranged for handling it when moving on rollers diagonally opposite to these on the upper region of the vertical narrow side of a shell of the case, which can be folded into the shell in the storage position and when moving the case as a handle can be folded away from the wall to the front.

In previous cases of this type, handlebars are available, which can either be pulled out from the top of the case or with a hinge in a diagonally opposite direction to the wheels hinged corner area of the case, can be folded out from a vertically folded down position into an approximately perpendicularly projecting position from the front narrow side of the case for handling when moving on wheels.

With such an arrangement of a handle bar, it is already known to arrange it retractable in the folded state in a groove-shaped depression on the front narrow side of one of the case shells in the folded state. Because of the width of such a handle bar between 25 and 30 mm, this groove-shaped recess is arranged approximately in the middle between the parting plane of the two case shells and the bottom area thereof, that is to say comparatively far outside the middle plane of the case.
Because of the small track width of the two rollers in cooperation with the eccentric arrangement of the handle bar, when pulling the case on rollers there is an unstable equilibrium, which, even with slight unevenness in the floor, causes the case to tip over. As a result of the design of the handle bar with a flat, often oval profile, it is only possible with great effort and often not at all to exert the force with one hand in order to counteract the pendulum movements of the suitcase when there are fluctuations in equilibrium.

In addition, it is very difficult for the hand of a person who is not very strong to pull the weight of a suitcase that is not carried by the rollers by pulling on a smooth, rod-shaped metal handle. This quickly leads to fatigue or even cramping of the gripping muscles of a human hand. This is the very disadvantageous consequence of an ergonomically inexperienced handle design.

The invention has for its object to provide a case with rollers arranged at one end of its base and a handle arranged for its handling when moving on rollers, this handle being comfortable and ergonomically convenient in the hand, a safe guidance of the case to enable tilting caused by uneven floors, and which despite a necessary shape, which differs significantly from the shape of a handle bar, does not protrude beyond the case surface when folded down, thereby damaging the handle itself and in the case of stacking many cases, such as for example in the hold of an aircraft, also avoids damage to adjacent suitcases.

To solve this problem, a case with casters arranged at one end of its base and a handle arranged for its handling when moving on wheels diagonally opposite to these is arranged on the upper region of the vertical narrow side of a shell of the case, which can be folded against the shell in the rest position and when moving the case as a handle can be folded away from the wall to the front, proposed according to the invention that
the handle has a closed bracket corresponding in its internal width to the width of a hand with a foot part arranged pivotably in a hinge,
the handle is arranged in a depression surrounding it and is flush with the plane xx of the case shell in the folded position,
- The bracket is attached off-center to the foot part hinged to one of the two case shells and covers yy surface parts of the case shells transversely to the parting plane, and
- That a portion of the recess surrounding the handle is available in both case shells.

It is a great advantage that the handle is designed with a closed bracket, which corresponds to the width of one hand in its clear width, which enables ergonomic and safe handling of the case, even in difficult ground conditions.
In addition, the advantageous design of the handle, which is optimally adapted to the anatomy of the hand, makes it much easier for weaker people to pull the case and considerably prevents premature hand fatigue.

Due to the arrangement of the handle in a locally surrounding recess, it is practically hardly possible in the rest position and in the folded position that objects can come into contact with the handle and damage it, or that it could damage other objects such as suitcases or bags.

Due to the fact that the bracket is attached off-center to the foot part articulated on one of the two case shells and covers surface parts of both case shells transversely to the parting plane, the case's center of gravity, in contrast to the known arrangement of a handle bar, is in the area of the handle bar, which results in a much more stable Location and easier handling even with fluctuations in the case results.

Because a portion of the recess surrounding the handle is present in both case shells, there is the possibility of advantageously sinking the comparatively wide handle when it is folded down into the plane of the outer case surface.

Further advantageous embodiments of the case according to the invention are provided in accordance with the features of claims 2 to 9.

The case 30 according to FIG. 1 consists of the two case shells 6 and 7. These are reinforced at their free edges with profile strips 19 and 20, preferably made of aluminum. On the top 31 is a handle 32 and locks 29,29 weiterhin are arranged in the usual way. At its corners, the case 30 has corner caps 28. Furthermore, a pair of rollers 26 is provided at one end 27 of the base in a manner known per se. As is known, this serves to move the case over the floor in the diagonally raised position, as shown, with the aid of the handle 1 which has been unfolded for this purpose.

As the summary of FIGS. 1 to 8 now shows, the handle 1 has a closed bracket 2 with a clear width W corresponding to the width of a hand, with a foot part 3 arranged pivotably in a hinge 4. Essential to the invention, as can be seen in particular from FIGS. 2 to 5, the handle 1 is arranged in a recess 5 that surrounds it locally and is flush with the plane x-x of the case shell 6 or 7 in the folded position.

In order to avoid that the bracket 2 of the handle 1 is arranged too far out of the parting plane yy or a corresponding central plane of the case 30, an essential aspect of the invention looks design that the bracket 2 is attached off-center to the foot part 3 articulated on one of the two case shells 6 or 7 and covers surface parts 8 and 9 of the case shells 6 and 7 transverse to the parting plane yy.

In order to make this possible, it is further provided in an embodiment essential to the invention that a partial region 10 or 11 of the recess 5 surrounding the handle is present in both case shells 6 and 7.

For this purpose, it is provided in a further advantageous embodiment that the recess 5, viewed in plan view (see FIGS. 3 and 4), is designed in the form of the projection of the handle 1 folded in, plus a circumferential free space 12 of a peripheral strip that is between 10 and 20 mm wide .

7 eingesetzt ist.8, each partial area 10 or 11 of the recess 5 can consist of a shaped piece 13 or 14 corresponding to the size of the partial area 10 or 11, which is inserted into a compatible recess 15 or 16 a case shell 6 or 7 is used.

Another embodiment, which is also very advantageous depending on the material and design of the case, provides that each partial area 10 or 11 of the recess 5, as shown in Figure 7, from one of the original surface of the case shell under action indentation produced by heat and / or pressure is produced in one piece with the shell.

As particularly shown in FIGS. 4 and 6, in an embodiment essential to the invention, the stirrup 2 and the foot part 3 are arranged and designed so that they are offset such that the stirrup 2 is at least a third of its width B from the flat part 8 of the case shell 6 to which the foot part 3 is articulated , protrudes beyond the parting plane yy of the two case shells 6, 7 into a surface part 9 of the case shell 7.
In particular, this ensures that when the case 30 is handled with the bracket, its center of gravity lies within the bracket, which makes it much easier to maintain balance when pulling over uneven ground. As can also be seen from FIG. 6, the bracket 2 and the foot part 3 are advantageously produced as a one-piece plastic part.
It is further provided that the hinge 4 receiving the foot part 3 is formed in a sheet metal part 18 connected to the case shell 6 at the base of the surface part 8 of the recess 5.

This sheet metal part can be made rectangular with a circumferentially raised edge by pulling from a circuit board at a comparatively low cost. Wedge-shaped elements 32 are then punched out of the bottom of the molded part 18 and, in the manner of nails, are driven away from the bottom through the material of the case shell 6 and folded over on the inside of the case shell 6 for attachment to the outside.

20 im Bereich der Vertiefung 5 mit schlaufenförmigen Abbiegungen 21 bzw.22 verformt.(Fig.5).Because the partial areas 10 and 11 of the recess 5 overlap the parting plane yy of the two case shells 6 and 7, the profile strips 19 and 20, preferably made of aluminum, are attached to the free edges of the case shells 6 and 7, respectively, in the area the depression 5 is deformed with loop-shaped bends 21 or 22 (FIG. 5).

And finally, in a configuration essential to the invention, the bracket 2 is advantageously designed in the form of a closed rectangle, the end 23 of which, opposite the foot part 3, has a grip web 25 which is ergonomically designed with a central thickening 24 and is somewhat curved in the longitudinal direction, as is also the case, for example 3 can be seen.

The design of the case according to the invention is thus both ergonomically extremely inexpensive, still elegant and can finally be carried out with comparatively simple and inexpensive means.
Thus, one can speak of an ideal solution to the task mentioned at the beginning.
