A household suction cleaning device with the above features (a) to (d) is known from document US-A-4 367 565. In this known device, the collection space for aspirated liquid is formed by a round, dirty liquid container which can be removed upwards. The storage space for cleaning liquid is formed by a cleaning liquid container, which is roughly speaking in cross-section annular with a square outer wall and a circular inner wall and surrounds the dirty liquid container on the outside. After removing an upper part of the device housing, the cleaning liquid container can also be removed. For dry vacuum operation, a dust bag is used in the cleaning liquid container instead of the dirty liquid container. The inflow opening to the dirty liquid container or the dust bag is located in an upper, round housing cover. After inserting the dirty liquid container into the device, its outflow opening, which is located at the lower end of a central air flow channel in the dirty liquid container, comes into flow connection with a corresponding counter opening in the device. The cleaning liquid is removed from the cleaning liquid container through a side suction nozzle.

Document EP-A2-0 176 697 discloses a household suction cleaning device which can be operated either as a dry suction device or as a spray / wet suction device. This known device differs from the device in US-A-4 367 565 in that the cleaning liquid container and the dirty liquid container are arranged side by side and that the dust bag must be inserted into the emptied dirty liquid container. The inflow opening and the outflow opening of the dirty liquid container are provided on an upper insert of this container. The removal opening of the cleaning liquid container is provided on an upper insert of this container. If the two containers are attached to the device with the insertion, the three openings mentioned are in flow communication with corresponding counter-openings on the device.

None of the two known devices has a combination container which can be inserted into and removed from the device, both for cleaning liquid and for soiled dirty liquid, from which the cleaning liquid is also removed from below.

The household suction cleaning device according to the invention can be converted in a very simple manner into a spray extraction cleaning device which is particularly easy to handle and vice versa.

The term "carriage construction" refers to the fact that the suction cleaning device has a - roughly speaking - essentially cuboid device body which can be moved on the floor in a sliding or, more frequently, by means of rollers or on which a suction hose and / or a suction pipe with a suction head or a suction nozzle is connected at the end.

In spray extraction cleaning, a cleaning agent, usually water with the addition of butcher agent, is relatively close to a suction head cleaning object, especially a carpet, upholstery or the like, sprayed on. A mixture of cleaning liquid and air mixed with loosened dirt is sucked out of the object to be cleaned by the suction head and fed to a tank for dirty cleaning liquid. The fresh cleaning liquid comes from another tank. After cleaning, the tank for dirty cleaning liquid must be emptied.

The combination container provided according to the invention can therefore be used in the device instead of the suction bag, as a result of which, together with other components present in the cleaning device, in particular a liquid pump and associated liquid channel for the fresh cleaning liquid, a fully-functional spray / wet suction device is formed. The combination container can be provided with a handle to facilitate the conversion. It has connection openings that automatically come into flow connection with corresponding counter-openings when inserted into the cleaning device. After removing the combination container and inserting the dust bag, a sledge vacuum cleaner is again available. In addition, it is possible to use the cleaning device with the combination container used as a wet vacuum for vacuuming up puddles, washer fluid or the like.

The combination container can advantageously have a substantially round cross section.

Preferably, a first flow channel leads in the container from the inflow opening to the upper region of the separation space on the collection space wall and leads in the middle region of the collection space to a second flow channel with the upper suction opening down to the outflow opening. This is favorable from the point of view of the simplest possible manufacture and the best possible separation of dirty cleaning liquid and suction air in the separation space.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the separation space and the flow path design in the container are such that there is a liquid / air separation based on the cyclone principle. To further support the separation according to the cyclone principle, the upper end of the separation space can be designed in a dome shape.

In the interest of creating as large a volume as possible in the storage room and in the collection room, it is preferred if the container protrudes substantially above the top of the device carriage in the inserted state. This does not involve an increase in the footprint of the equipment slide.

In a further development of the invention, the container can have a, preferably round, upper end cover, which can alternatively close the cleaning device in the corresponding area at the top when the container is removed and the dust bag is inserted.

A particularly favorable design of the container valve is a design as a poppet valve with a downwardly projecting extension which sits on a counter surface when the container is inserted and thereby opens the poppet valve in a lifting manner.

The flow path is preferably led outside behind the suction fan and a separate cooling air flow path is provided for the cooling air of the motor of the suction fan. In this way, the usual guidance of the filtered suction flow through the motor for cooling it is avoided in household vacuum cleaners, because in spray-wet suction, despite the liquid / air separation in the separation space, the suction flow is then sometimes not completely free of moisture and in extreme cases this residual moisture is harmful to the engine could be.

Usual sledge vacuum cleaners are usually built in such a way that on the side opposite the suction fan and its motor there is a device termination with a flow channel piece to which a suction hose or a suction pipe can be connected on the outside. The invention preferably also relates to this type of carriage vacuum cleaner and, as a result, the container is designed such that when it is inserted the inflow opening comes into flow connection with the inner end of the flow channel piece. Alternatively, however, it would be entirely possible to convert the connection flow duct piece together with a dust bag unit or a combination container unit.

In the interest of comfortable working with the cleaning device, a coupling of the liquid channel is preferably provided at the end of the device, so that the section of the liquid channel leading from the carriage to the spray nozzle can be removed for dry suction operation.

The invention and refinements of the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing.

In Fig. 1 you can see the most important components of the carriage 2 of the cleaning device 4 in dry suction mode, namely electric motor 6, suction fan 8, dust bag 10, flow channel piece 12 for connecting a suction hose or suction pipe, dome-shaped round cover 14 for the upper end of the room in which the Dust bag 10 is housed. The carriage 2 can be moved on wheels 16.

For conversion to wet suction operation, the cover 14 is removed, the dust bag 10 is lifted upwards, separating the inner end of the flow channel piece 12, and the container 18 shown in FIG. 2 is inserted into the cleaning device 4 from above. At the bottom of the room, in which the dust bag 10 was previously located, there is a short, vertical connection piece 20, which is closed off by a cap 21 during dry suction operation. This cap 21 is removed before the container 18 is inserted. The container 18 has a substantially circular shape in plan view and fits with about 25 to 40% of its vertical length in the space in which the dust bag 10 was previously accommodated. When the container 18 is inserted, an inflow opening 22 of the flow path comes into flow connection with the inner end of the flow channel piece 12, an outflow opening 24 of the flow path comes into flow connection with a suction opening 26 of the suction blower 8, and a removal opening 28 for cleaning liquid provided at the bottom of the container 18 comes 30 in flow connection with the nozzle 20. Thus, counter openings 32, 26 and 34 for the openings 22, 24, 28 of the container 18 are present.

The container 18 is double-walled over most of its length, that is to say with an outer wall 36 and an inner partition 38 which is concentric therewith. The outer annular space between the walls 36 and 38 forms a storage space 40 for the fresh cleaning liquid 30. The space within the partition 38 forms a collection space 42 for dirty cleaning liquid 44. A separation space 48 is located above the play gel 46 of the soiled cleaning fluid 44. The storage space 40 is guided in the lower region of the container 18 to the center thereof, so that fresh cleaning fluid 30 can be drawn off through the removal opening 28.

A first flow channel 50 leads from the inflow opening 22 on the inside of the partition wall 38 into the vicinity of the upper end of the container 18, which in turn is formed by the cover 14. In the center of the container 18, a vertical, second air flow channel 52 leads downwards and forwards the lower end of the container 18 to the outer wall 36 and the outflow opening 24, which is diametrically opposite the inflow opening 22. The second air flow channel 52 has an upper suction opening 54, which is closed off in an air-permeable manner by a filter piece 56. The suction opening 54 is at a certain distance from the cover 14. The described design of the separation space 48 and the flow paths in the container 18 result in a separation between dirty cleaning liquid and suction air according to the cyclone principle in the separation space 48. From the nozzle 20 leads between the bottom 58 of the carriage 2 and the bottom 60 of the receiving space for the dust bag 10, a liquid line 62 to the rear to a liquid pump 64 arranged next to the electric motor 6, from there again forward to the nozzle 20 to one on front end 66 of the slide 2 provided coupling 68.

The suction flow sucked in through the suction opening 26 of the suction blower 8 is blown out into the open through a channel 69 running behind the electric motor 6. For the cooling air flow of the electric motor 6 there is a separate flow path 70 at the rear end of the carriage 2, through the electric motor 6 and from there to the upper outlet slots of the carriage 2.

For wet suction, a suction pipe 72, of which only the front end can be seen in FIG. 5, is connected to the flow channel piece 12, and a suction pipe 74 bent downward is connected to the suction hose. The suction pipe 74 carries a suction head or a wide suction nozzle 76 at its front end. A liquid channel or a liquid line 62 runs below the suction pipe 74, which opens at the front end into a spray nozzle 78 arranged close to the suction head 76 and with its other end into not shown is connected to the clutch 68. In the area of the bend, a valve unit 80 is attached to the suction pipe 74, which is connected into the liquid line 62 and can be opened against spring force by means of a hand lever 82. The valve unit 80 is pushed onto an extension 84 on the intake manifold for mounting. In addition, a conventional false air slide valve 86 can be seen on the upper side of the suction pipe 74.

The cleaning device 4 is switched on for wet suction, so that the liquid pump 64 and the electric motor 6 for the suction fan 8 run. When the valve unit 80 is opened by actuating the hand lever 82, cleaning liquid emerges from the spray nozzle under pressure, releases the dirt on the object to be cleaned and is immediately sucked up again by the suction head 76 after the dirt has been absorbed. The contaminated cleaning liquid passes through the suction pipe 74, the suction hose 72, the flow channel piece 12 and the first flow channel 50 into the separation space 48, where contaminated cleaning liquid 44 and suction air are separated from one another. The suction air, which is largely separated from liquid, passes through the pre-filter piece 56 into the second flow channel 52 and from there through the outflow opening 24 and fine filter 24a and the suction opening 26 to the suction blower 8 and from there through housing slots into the open.

To convert to dry vacuuming, the container 18 is removed from device 4 in total. A poppet valve 88 arranged in the area of the removal opening 28 closes automatically since its lower extension 90 no longer bears against a lower counter surface in the slide 2 and, as a result, the valve body is pressed downward by its own elasticity. Thus, the container 18 can be lifted off without contaminated cleaning liquid 44 flowing out and can be conveniently emptied by pouring it out. For dry vacuuming, the corresponding section of the liquid line 62, the valve unit 80 and the spray nozzle 78 can be easily removed from the suction pipe 74, since they are held there only by connections which can be released easily, such as push-in connections, snap connections, clamp connections.

It is understood that at the connection points between the cover 14 and the slide 2, the cover 14 and the upper edge of the container 18, the inflow opening 22 and the inner end of the flow channel piece 12, the outflow opening 24 and the suction opening 26 and the removal opening 28 and the socket 22 suitable round seals are provided in order to create sufficient flow connections. Between the container 18 and the suction opening 26, a slightly elastic filter housing 94 is provided in the longitudinal direction, each with a seal at both ends, in order to create the required flow connection here, so to speak, in a self-snapping manner. It also goes without saying that the liquid pump 64 does not run during dry suction after actuation of a corresponding switch.

The accommodation space for the liquid pump 64 is accessible from below through a cover.
