Description

The invention relates to a device for protecting parabolic antennas in the form of an essentially spherical shell-shaped hood enclosing the antenna.

In addition to linear antennas, so-called aperture radiators or area radiators are used for radiating and receiving electromagnetic vibrations, in which a wave is emitted in the opening plane of the bowl-shaped antenna. The simplest form is the parabolic antenna, which is extremely powerful, but is at risk of snow and ice crystals being deposited in the parabolic dish under the appropriate weather conditions, the crystals of which lead to reflection. This sometimes significantly disrupts antenna operation. Large antenna systems enclose such parabolic antennas with a spherical shell-like housing, the construction of which, however, is complex and cannot be transferred to the casing of a simple, comparatively small parabolic antenna. Because corresponding cladding for such parabolic antennas which are accessible to general use are practically not available on the market, such antennas are comparatively little used. In order to remedy this deficiency and to ensure effective protection of parabolic antennas against interference from snow and ice crystal deposits, even in the case of smaller antennas suitable for general use, the invention provides that the hood consists of a number of equally large sector-shaped shell parts, which in turn are in one their axis perpendicular to the equatorial plane and possibly divided into further planes parallel to this plane, these further division planes being arranged at an equal distance from both sides of the equatorial plane.

The measure according to the invention creates the structural conditions for the design of such a covering for parabolic antennas, on the basis of which the hood can be manufactured in a rational manner. However, this is a basic requirement for the further spread of such antennas. First, the roughly spherical shell shape of the hood is broken down into sector-shaped shell parts, which, however, generally require an excessively high production outlay due to their size. Therefore, each shell part is broken down into further individual elements, although the arrangement ensures that only slightly differently shaped parts are obtained. In the simplest case, the invention makes it possible, in its further embodiment, for each shell part to be divided into four parts, three of which are each of the same shape, by three parting planes, to design the entire hood from two different components. It is obvious that a highly efficient production is then guaranteed, which enables the wide use of such claddings and thus the parabolic antennas receiving them. Each shell part consists of two larger parts colliding in the equatorial plane, each with four corners and two further parts which have the tips of the sector-shaped shell parts and are basically triangular in shape. Such components can be manufactured in large numbers and / or kept in stock until they are called up for use.

A particularly simple embodiment of the invention is characterized in that each shell part is curved only in a plane which has its axis. In the other plane, which takes up the equatorial plane, the outer contour is a straight line. If such shell parts are put together, the hood is given a polygonal shape when viewed from above. Training as an octagon is advantageous. At larger hoods are also attached to twelve-sided or hexagonal shapes, without this having to be a limitation.

An alternative embodiment assumes that each shell part has a curvature corresponding to a spherical surface. Such a shell part then forms a sector of a spherical shell, and the hood is then actually essentially spherical. Which embodiment is preferred depends entirely on the circumstances of the individual case.

The individual sub-elements of each shell part and the shell parts in turn can be assembled in different ways. The invention first provides that the shell parts and their parts are joined together by a tongue and groove connection. This training aims at the idea explained above to produce the hood from the smallest possible number of individual parts. If only tongue and groove connections are used on all abutting edges of the parts, three different individual parts are required to design such a sphere, because one of the two middle parts of each sector-shaped shell part then contains a groove on the adjoining edge, while on the other part a spring is formed. However, the connection can also be carried out in such a way that the shell parts and their partial elements have a groove on their circumference, a connecting fold being inserted into the mutually directed grooves of two parts lying against one another. Mixed forms of such connections can of course also be provided in order to make it possible to achieve the minimum number of two different sub-elements for the construction of a hood if each shell part consists of four parts.

It is within the scope of the invention that the shell parts consist of a foamed plastic with an outer support made of a fiber-reinforced plastic. This allows the construction to be kept extremely light, while at the same time achieving maximum strength. At the same time, high resistance to weather influences is achieved. In any case, such a hood is free of metallic components that could interfere with antenna operation. Any other plastic can also take the place of a foamed plastic. Possibly. the outer surface can be so dense and the strength of the plastic so great that the outer fiber-reinforced synthetic resin layer can be dispensed with entirely. It is within the scope of the invention to manufacture the shell parts from fiber-reinforced plastic.

Another embodiment of the invention is that the shell parts adjacent to the poles form a unit in the form of a spherical section. In this case, the number of individual parts of the spherical shell-shaped hood is significantly reduced and, at the same time, the strength is increased in that the regions of the sphere near the poles each form a unit. The shell parts and the two spherical sections can in turn be joined together by a tongue and groove connection.

The hood 1 consists of a spherical shell-shaped wall, which in the embodiment shown here is divided into eight shell parts 2. These are arranged around the imaginary axis 3. In the equatorial plane of this spherical shell, each shell part 2 has an angle 4 of 45 °, as can be seen in FIG. 3. In the embodiment shown, each of the sector-shaped shell parts 2 is subdivided into a plurality of division planes, one of which is the equatorial plane 5 of the approximated sphere. At an equal distance 6 from this equatorial plane 5 there are two further division planes 7 on both sides. As a result, each shell part 2 is broken down into four individual parts. Of these, the two parts 8 on both sides of the equatorial plane 5 are of the same size and the same square shape. The outer parts 9 of each shell part 2 adjoining the axis 3 of the ball are again the same size and of the same triangular shape. Such a ball is thus composed of only two different components, namely parts 8 and Parts 9. In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, each shell part 2 is curved only in one plane which is perpendicular to the equatorial plane 5. This plane of curvature also contains axis 3 of the sphere. In the equatorial plane, the outer surface 10 of each shell part 2 is flat, as can be seen in FIG. 3. Therefore the hood 1 forms an octagon here. The embodiment according to FIGS. 4 to 6 is of basically the same structure, but here each shell part 2 has an outer surface 10 which is curved in accordance with a spherical surface, ie the outer surface 10 of the shell parts 2 is also curved in the equatorial plane according to FIG. 6.

The central partial elements 8 of each sector-shaped shell part 2 have a tongue 13 on the edge 12 axially adjoining the part 9, which spring engages in a groove 14 on the corresponding edge 15 of the adjacent outer shell part 9. On the one side edge 16 pointing in the circumferential direction of the hood 1, each part 8 is likewise provided with a groove 17, while the opposite side edge 18 has a corresponding groove 19. Correspondingly, one side edge 20 of the parts 9 is provided with a groove 21, whereas the opposite side edge 22 carries a tongue 23. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 7, the upper of the partial elements 8 has a groove 26 on the edge 25 lying in the equatorial plane 5, while the lower partial element 8element carries a tongue 27 on the corresponding edge 25, which engages in the groove 26 of the sub-element 8 is determined. This feature alone distinguishes the two sub-elements 8 and 8ʹ from each other.

Instead, however, both parts 8 could each have a groove 26 on this side edge 25 facing each other, into which a connecting fold would then be inserted. In this case, the two inner sub-elements 8 would be identical.

The shell parts 2 of the two embodiments of the hoods 1 consist of a wall 28 made of foamed plastic, on the outside of which a support layer 29 made of a fiber-reinforced synthetic resin lies in a material connection.

Since the invention is directed to the basic design of a hood enclosing a parabolic antenna, the reproduction of fastening elements and insertion openings for the wearer of the parabolic antenna to be accommodated by the hood 1 has been dispensed with.

Kugelkalotte befinden.8 shows a modified embodiment, the basic structure of which corresponds to the previously described embodiments. However, in this embodiment, the outer parts 9 of each shell part 2 have been left as a unit in the form of a spherical shell 30, so that there is a spherical shell 30 or spherical cap on the two poles of the sphere.
