Abstract

The folding box has a rectangular bottom surface and side walls and end walls attached thereto. Provided between the latter are gusset corners which can be folded onto the outside of the end walls. The folding line of these gusset corners is arranged off-centre, by which means the folding box is braced when it is set up, which holds the folding box firmly in its upright state. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a bowl-shaped folding box with a preferably rectangular bottom surface and hinged to the boundary edges of the side and end walls and gusset corners located between them, which are folded in pairs and when folded up on the outside of the end walls when the folding box is erected.

In a bowl-shaped folding box of this type known from DE-GM 81 20 990, the gusset corners must be glued to the end walls in order to prevent the folding box from opening.

The invention has for its object to design such a folding box so that it is automatically stable after erection and does not necessarily require gluing.

This object is achieved in that the fold line dividing the gusset corners is arranged slightly offset from the bisector of the angle, so that when the gusset corners are unfolded onto the outside of the end wall, it is pulled slightly into the inside of the folding box, its lateral boundary edge within the boundary line of the adjacent side wall bears on the inner surface thereof, and that the end wall on the outside of which the gusset corners are unfolded, at its upper edge, preferably over its entire width is provided flap which is folded on the outside and clamps the gusset corners between itself and the end wall.

As a result of this configuration of the shell-shaped folding box, it remains in its predetermined position after being erected without the need for additional fixing of the walls or wall sections. In addition, erecting the folding box is very easy and can be carried out both by machine and manually.

An advantageous embodiment of the invention is that the gusset corners have an approximately rectangular recess at their free corner, so that the boundary edge of the gusset corners unfolded on the end wall is approximately perpendicular.

As a result, the length of the upper boundary edge and the obliquely running lower boundary edge is in an optimal ratio, with which it is ensured that the upper boundary edge is as long as possible in order to be optimally held by the flap folded over and the lower oblique boundary edge is only as long, that there is no mutual interference with the neighboring gusset corner.

It is also very advantageous if, according to the invention, the end walls are provided with fold lines along which the end walls are pressed outwards with their central section.

The resulting deformation, which is permanent, provides further protection against unintentional opening of the fold.

It has been found to be expedient if, according to the invention, the fold lines of the end walls start from their lower corner point and extend at an angle which corresponds to the angle of the fold lines of the gusset corners.

This configuration considerably facilitates the outward deformation of the end wall and, above all, secures it.

This can be further improved by the fact that, according to the invention, fold lines are provided in the flap hinged to the end wall, which form the continuation of the fold lines in the end wall, but run in opposite directions.

The deformation of the folding box can be supported by the fact that, according to the invention, folding lines are provided in the side walls, starting from their lower corner points, running obliquely upwards and ending at a small distance from one another at the upper edge of the side walls.

If, in special applications, an additional adhesive is to be provided for an additional securing that is deemed necessary, then it is particularly advantageous if, according to the invention, an at least approximately circular scoring line is provided on the outside of the gusset corners, which penetrates into the gusset corner up to approximately half the material thickness and in Cover area of the flap hinged to the end wall, and that an adhesive is attached to the section lying within this score line, which connects the flap to the gusset corner.

To detach the material along the scoring line is released from the gusset corner according to the depth of the scoring line, which on the one hand enables easy separation, but on the other hand ensures a secure hold.

Dabei zeigen:

  • Fig. 1 einen flachliegenden Zuschnitt und
  • Fig. 2 eine fertig aufgerichtete Faltschachtel.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown. Show:
  • Fig. 1 shows a flat blank and
  • Fig. 2 shows a fully erected folding box.

1 in FIG. 1 denotes a flat blank which has a base 2 on which two side walls 3 and 4 are hinged opposite one another via fold lines 5 and 6. End walls 9 and 10 are formed on the two other boundary edges of the base 2 via further fold lines 7 and 8.
Between the side walls 3 and 4 and the end walls 9 and 10, gusset corners 11, 12, 13 and 14 are provided, which are articulated both on the adjacent side wall and on the end wall via fold lines 15 to 22. The fold lines 15 and 18 or 19 and 22 provided between the gusset corners and the end walls extend the fold lines 5 and 6 between the bottom 2 and the two side walls 3 and 4. The fold lines 16 and 21 or 17 and 20 represent them Extensions of the fold lines 7 and 8 between the bottom 2 and the two side walls. The gusset corners 11 to 14 are each divided by a fold line 23 which, with the fold line 16, 17, 20, 21, has a slightly smaller angle α against the adjacent side wall includes as with the fold line 15,18,19,22 against the adjacent end wall. The angle α is about 43 degrees, while the other angle is about 47 degrees.

On the two end walls 9 and 10 flaps 29, 30 are formed via further fold lines 27 and 28, which extend over the entire width of the end walls.

Fold lines 31, 32 and 33, 34 are provided in both end walls 9 and 10, the angle β of which with the fold line 7 and 8 corresponds approximately to the angle α. These fold lines extend to the outer fold line 27 or 28 and are then continued in the flaps 29 or 30 in crease lines 35, 36, which run in opposite directions and also enclose the angle β with the fold line 27 or 28. On one flap 30, an arcuate extension 37 is formed, which serves as an opening aid. A corresponding recess 38 can be provided in the opposite flap 29 to save material.

At the section of the gusset corners which is on the outside when unfolding, a section 40 is divided by a circular scribe line 39, in which a gluing with the flap 29 or 30 can be carried out. Due to the tensioning of the folding box, such gluing is not necessary; however, it can be used to increase security.

Fold lines 41, 42 can be provided in the side walls 3, 4, starting from their lower corner points, running obliquely upwards and ending at a distance from one another at the upper edge of the side walls.

In Fig. 2 a fully erected folding box is shown, the walls of which are so braced against one another that an unintentional folding back cannot occur under normal circumstances.
