Definitions

  • the invention relates to a connector strip according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • connection lugs of contact springs arranged in a plurality of parallel rows press against the two sides of an inserted printed circuit board (US Patents 3,663,925 and 3,413,594).
  • the contact springs are rigidly mounted in the connector strip.
  • the connection lugs lead obliquely from the connector strip to the printed circuit board and have angled extensions which rest on the two printed circuit board surfaces.
  • the invention has for its object to design a connector strip of the type mentioned so that a secure electrical connection, for example with the help of the so-called reflow soldering method, is guaranteed even with tolerances of the circuit board thickness.
  • the invention is associated with the advantage that when using printed circuit boards with different board thicknesses, the contact pressure required for the electrical connection, for example by reflow soldering, is always formed.
  • the invention is also associated with the advantage that the contacting of the terminal lugs on the circuit board takes up little space.
  • connection lugs have relatively short dimensions, so that the connector strip according to the invention is distinguished by favorable values for crosstalk and transmission quality.
  • the connector strip 1 shows a connector strip 1 and a circuit board 2 connected to it.
  • the connector strip 1 has a plurality of parallel rows with contact spring chambers 11, some of which contain contact springs, which are formed on the side of the connector strip 1 shown here to form terminal lugs 12.
  • the circuit board 2 is inserted between the lugs of different rows of contact springs.
  • the circuit board 2 can be arranged asymmetrically in the center plane of the connector strip 1 or, as shown here in FIG. 1.
  • the contact springs or the connecting lugs 12 arranged in the chambers 11 are, as will be explained with reference to FIG. 2, are not continuously rigidly supported in the chambers 11, but are only fixed in a clamping point arranged in the chambers 11, that is to say within the connector strip. This results in a resilient mounting for the connecting lugs 12 from the clamping point arranged within the chambers 11 to their free end.
  • the contact connection driving 12 are bent approximately at right angles immediately after they emerge from the connector strip 1 and run approximately parallel to the the side of the connector strip facing the circuit board. They are formed in a straight line between the connector strip 1 and the corresponding contact points 21 of the printed circuit board 2. The contact spring terminal lugs 12 thus press approximately perpendicularly on the corresponding contact points 21 of the printed circuit board 2.
  • the terminal lugs 12 are trimmed in such a way that the terminal lugs of all the contact springs arranged on one side of the printed circuit board 2 each directly spring against the corresponding contact points 21 of the printed circuit board 2. These terminal lugs 12 lie in a common plane parallel to the side of the connector strip 1 facing the printed circuit board 2.
  • This arrangement is characterized by short dimensions and by sufficiently high values for the contact pressure caused by the vertically incident connecting lugs 12, which enable reliable contacting of the connecting lugs 12 with the corresponding contact points 21, in particular according to the so-called reflow soldering method.
  • connection lugs 12 and the contact points 21 are, as already mentioned, for example by the so-called reflow soldering method connected to each other. If, instead of the printed circuit board 2 shown in FIG. 2, another printed circuit board 2 with a greater board thickness is pushed between the contact spring connection lugs 12, the connection lugs 12 which are resiliently mounted in the interior of the chambers 11 move by the corresponding distance in the direction of the chambers 11. At the same time, the pressure exerted by the connecting lugs 11 on the printed circuit board 2 increases.
  • the contact spring connection lugs 12 have bent extensions 121 with respect to their part arranged between the connector strip 1 and the contact points 21. These can rest on the corresponding surface of the printed circuit board 2 or be bent at most by 90 ° with respect to this surface of the printed circuit board 2.
  • the extensions 121 of all contact spring connecting lugs 12 emerging from a row of contact springs are bent at the same angle with respect to the adjacent surface of the printed circuit board 2. Angles between 30 ° and 45 ° have been found to be particularly advantageous.
  • FIG. 3 shows a section of the circuit board 2 with contact points 21, wherein, as shown in FIG. 1, for example three rows of contact springs with terminal lugs 12 on one side of the circuit board and for example two rows of contact springs with terminal lugs 12 press against the other side of the circuit board 2 and for example are conductively connected to one another by the so-called reflow soldering method.
  • the contact points 21 are, as already shown in FIGS 1 and 2, arranged on both sides of the circuit board 2 and continue to conductors 22. As shown in FIG. 3, the contact points 21 have an elongated, rectangular shape, which, however, can advantageously be relatively small in area and thus save space.
