Definitions

  • Such a lamp of type H 3 , is known inter alia from French patent FR-A 2,341,197.
  • the lamp has a metal casing from which are cut hook-shaped welding tabs curved projecting from the walls of the 'envelope, placed in the slots of the centering base and subject to cut and folded tabs of the base.
  • the tongues of the envelope of relatively thin thickness cover the relatively thick tabs of the centering base on which said tongues are welded.
  • one of the current inputs is connected to an insulated cable, the other being connected to the metal casing.
  • Such an embodiment can only be used for a lamp of the H3 type.
  • the standardization of lamps of the H3 type does not impose a maximum constraint on the distance between the welding tongues of the metal envelope after welding of the latter to the base. This allows the legs of the centering base to be sufficiently thick to withstand a certain mechanical pressure, during spot welding of the tabs of the envelope.
  • a maximum dimension is imposed on the thickness of the metal envelope of the lamp in an area between the metal centering base and the bulb, said area being adjacent to the ambase. It is therefore not possible to use the structure described in the patent cited above, a structure which is only suitable for standardizing lamps of the H3 type.
  • lamps of the H1 type which are commercially available, have a metal envelope, which passes through a base, of which four cut-out folded square are spot welded on the walls of the metal envelope, the part of the envelope adjacent to the base, located opposite the part carrying the bulb containing a conductive pad coated with an insulating resin and crimped by punching.
  • One of the current inputs is connected to this conductive pad, the other to the metal casing.
  • the insulating material which coats the central stud, tends to be replaced by a ceramic material, a more insulating but also more fragile material.
  • This material cannot be used in a known design of a lamp of the H1 type, since a crimping by punching of a ceramic material introduced into the lower part of the envelope would cause its destruction.
  • the invention aims to provide a lamp of the type described in the preamble whose structure allows, while respecting standards, to improve the assembly of the lamp.
  • the invention aims to indicate, for this lamp, a structure which allows improved isolation of the conductive pad from the base.
  • this object is achieved by the fact that the metal base is provided with a sleeve in which is fixed a conductive pad wrapped in insulating material, that the welding tongues extend essentially in the extension of the metal envelope and are welded to said sleeve.
  • the metal base, the conductive pad and its insulating envelope can be brought as a unit, which simplifies the production of the lamp.
  • the structure of the lamp facilitates the application of a ceramic material as an insulating material.
  • the sleeve of the metal base can serve as a matrix in order to introduce, after arrangement of the central stud, a pulverulent material and possibly a binder, from which is formed by heating a ceramic insulating body which is enclosed in the sleeve .
  • the dimension between the filament and the base is fixed by optical adjustment.
  • the welding tongues of the metal casing easily follow the sleeve of the metal base, so as to easily obtain their relative fixing.
  • the close contact between the base and the tabs allows a better diffusion of the heat released by the sealing of the bulb and the lowering of the temperature of said sealing.
  • the lamp according to FIGS. 1 and 2 has a tubular bulb 1 made of gas-tight glass, for example made of quartz glass, one end of which has a seal 2.
  • Current inputs 3, 11, 9 and 4, 10, 8 pass through the wall of the bulb 1.
  • a helical filament 5 is placed in the bulb 1 and each of its ends is connected to a current input 4, 10, 8, respectively 3, 11, 9.
  • the seal 2 of the bulb 1 is inserted into a tubular metal casing 12, which has a practically rectangular section and which is provided with windows 13 and 14, which are cut by stamping.
  • the window 13 reveals the seal 2 and the window 14 allows the part 3 of the current input 3, 11, 9 to be welded to a conductive pad 15 and provides a tab 25 which, by welding with part 4 of the current input 4, 10, 8, makes it possible to obtain an electrical ground contact for the lamp and a rigid connection between the bulb 1 and the envelope 12, the bulb and the envelope then constituting an assembled part.
  • This assembled part 1, 12 is mounted on a metal centering base 16, provided with a sleeve 19 in which is placed a conductive pad 15 which is coated with insulating material 22.
  • the two tongues 18 which are arranged at the end of the part of the casing 12, opposite the bulb 1, pass through the base 16 and are welded to the sleeve 19.
  • Figure 2 is a section II-II of the lamp of Figure 1. It shows the bulb 1 with its seal 2 pressed into the casing 12. The bulb rests on a neck 20, which positions it relative to the casing 12.
  • the conductive pad 15 passes through the base 16.
  • the sleeve 19, of a practically rectangular section, is produced by stamping, during the shaping of the base.
  • the welding tongues 18 of the metal casing 12 pass through the base 16 by two parallel slots 21 and are in contact with and welded to the sleeve 19.
  • the conductive pad 15 is rigidly connected to the sleeve 19 by a ceramic body 22, which is obtained by pressing, followed by sintering, around the conductive pad.
  • the metal base 16 with its sleeve 19, the conductive pad 15 and the ceramic insulating body 22 thus constitute a unit.
  • FIGS. 3 and 5 show the part made up of the base 16 with the sleeve 19, the stud 15 and the ceramic insulating body 22.
  • Figure 4 shows a detail of the part composed of the bulb 1 mounted on the metal casing 12.
  • the casing 12 is cut so that the straight tongues 18 extend, opposite the bulb, in the extension of the envelope.
