Description

The invention relates to a housing according to the preamble of claim 1.

Luminaire housings for linear fluorescent lamps generally consist of a lower housing part made of high-strength material and an upper housing part made of transparent material or a housing cover made of transparent material. Both housing parts are generally connected to one another in such a way that the housing cover can be removed to replace the fluorescent lamps. This means that hinges, screws and the like must be provided on the housing cover, also referred to as the lamp trough, cover or cover trough, so that a certain tightness, in particular with explosion-protected lamps the lamp housing is reached. The cover of the known luminaire housing is subjected to mechanical tension, with voltage peaks being present at certain points, in particular at the actual fastening points and at the locking points.

If the housing cover is made of thermoplastic or glass, then it is to be expected that stress cracks will occur, particularly in the areas with the stress peaks, e.g. B. when the luminaire housing is wetted with cleaning agents containing aggressive chemicals etc. Due to the aggressive behavior against thermoplastics and glass, stress corrosion cracking can occur, which must be avoided so that the potentially explosive ambient atmosphere cannot penetrate into the interior of the luminaire housing.

Similar problems exist not only with luminaire housings, but also with all those housings in which a cover is to be attached to a lower housing part, in which a certain tightness, e.g. B. a vapor tightness must be achieved.

A lamp of the type mentioned is known from DE-U 11 76 411. This lamp consists of a lower housing part and a cover made of glass, the latter of which has a circumferential flange edge. The circumferential flange edge is accommodated between two seals which are connected to one another by means of connecting screws with a frame encompassing the cover. The frame is fastened to the lower part of the housing by means of screws, the connecting screws for fixing the cover to the frame being adjusted so that the screw head of the connecting screws is against the Lower part of the housing is applied to avoid overvoltages. However, these overvoltages cannot be completely avoided, since a firm connection between the frame and the edge of the cover must be achieved and, moreover, the frame presses the edge of the cover against the lower housing part, the force with which this occurs depends on the correct adjustment of the connecting screws. Depending on the corresponding adjustment, the edge can be loaded differently along its circumference, so that stress corrosion cracking cannot be completely avoided.

The object of the invention is therefore to provide a housing of the type mentioned at the outset in which the risk of stress cracks is reliably avoided or at least certainly greatly reduced.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the characterizing features of claim 1.

Further advantageous refinements and improvements of the invention, in particular advantageous types of connection of cover and frame, can be found in the subclaims.

According to the invention, therefore, the edge of the housing cover or the cover is inserted into the frame, with changes in the loads along the edge of the housing cover, as are to be feared with incorrect setting of the connecting screws in the lamp according to DE-U 11 76 411 are avoided, but are at least greatly reduced. The only load that could possibly affect the edge of the housing cover could be deformation of the frame be itself, which is hardly to be expected and can be excluded depending on the type of sealing compound filling the recess. With a relatively soft, elastic sealing compound, deformations of the frame are not transmitted to the edge of the housing cover.

Characterized in that the edge of the housing cover is provided with the frame and that the individual connecting means, such as. B. the screws, hinges and the like and the frame are connected or molded on this, it is possible to attach the housing cover practically stress-free on the lower housing part. Another particular advantage of the configuration according to the invention is that the housing cover can be made very simple because the individual means which are to be provided for connection to the lower housing part no longer have to be molded onto the cover. In addition to a significant reduction in tool costs, this also means an improvement in the external shape and a simplification in the number of covers required for a series of luminaires. The housing cover can only be selected according to criteria relating to the light output; other criteria are of little importance. In addition, it is also possible to produce an antistatic housing cover because of its simple geometry and the material of the frame. The lower housing part, the seal, the frame and the potting compound or cavity seal, with which the frame and the housing cover are connected to one another or sealed against one another, can be set antistatically with simple measures, ie a surface resistance of 10 erhalten ohms can be obtained. The outer surface of the housing cover can also be because of the missing edges and because of the lack of additional shapes for hinges and a suitable film of charge-dissipating material can be applied in the form of a lattice, so that the areas within the individual lattice meshes that can be charged are small as required. Due to the special external shape, a screen grille can also be easily applied using varnish or a two-component spray process. This is only due to the simple outer shape. The housing cover can consist of any transparent materials, provided that the shrinkage of these materials is taken into account.

The invention and further advantageous refinements and improvements of the invention are to be explained and described in more detail with reference to the drawing, in which some exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown.

The luminaire or luminaire housing according to FIG. 1 consists of an elongated, rectangular, pot-like housing lower part 10, the free edge of which has an L-shaped outward extension 11 running around the edge. On the right-hand side (in the drawing), the extension 11 has two brackets 12, into which axes or pins 13 formed on a frame 14 are suspended (see also FIGS. 2 and 4). On the opposite longitudinal edge, a holding means in the form of a locking element 15 is fastened on the inside of the lower housing part 10, which - actuated from the outside - can be inserted with locking pins 16 into recesses in the frame 14, not shown, for the purpose of closing. The frame, which forms a circumferential ring which is adapted to the edge contour of the lower housing part 10, has a U-shaped strip arrangement 17 on the one ring surface facing the lower housing part 10, into which a circumferential seal 18 is inserted. On the opposite annular surface of the frame 14, a recess 19 is provided, into which the free edge of a housing cover, here a cover trough 20, is inserted. The recess or the circumferential groove 19 has on its radially outer inner surface 21 lugs 22, behind which a flange rim 23 which is molded onto the cover trough 20 and runs radially outwards can be snapped. After inserting the flange edge 23 of the cover trough 20 the groove 19 is poured out with casting resin 24 or a similar sealing agent.

In the interior of the lamp housing there are fluorescent lamps 25 and 26 which are fastened there in a manner known per se.

Reference is now made to FIG. 2. A schematic representation of the frame 14 can be seen there, according to viewing direction B of FIG. 1. The double-strip arrangement 17 is not shown and accordingly the seal is also designed differently. One can see on the right side the two pins 13 which can be hooked into the bracket 12 on the lower housing part or are also shown hooked in the embodiment according to FIG. The seal 18 is embedded in a groove 27 in the extension 11.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the cover trough 20 has at its free end radially outwardly projecting locking lugs 28 with which it engages behind projections 29 which correspond to the lugs 22. In the area of the locking lugs 28, the cover trough 20 has an area 30 with reduced wall thickness on its inner surface; as a result, the cover trough 20 is elastically more easily deformable in the region of the locking lugs 28. The sealing means 24 let into the recess 19 can also be seen.

The frame 50 according to FIG. 5 has a circumferential depression 51 which corresponds to the depression 19. In the frame 50, a plurality of bores 52 are made through which Plug 53 or bolt 53 are inserted; after inserting the edge of the cover trough 20 into the recess 51 and inserting the plug 53 into the region of the flange-like collar 54 of the cover trough 20, the recess is poured out with casting resin or similar sealing material 55 and the cover trough 20 is fixed to the frame.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 6, instead of a plug 53, a fixing strip 56 is inserted behind the projections 57, which correspond to the projections 29 in FIG. Here too, the cover pan 20 is properly and properly fixed to the frame 50.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 7, the frame 70, which is approximately the same as the frame 14, has a groove 71 which has lugs 72 which are similar to the lugs 19. The free edge of the lamp housing (cover trough) 20 is rounded and, similar to the embodiment according to FIG. 3 or 4, is provided with a detent-shaped housing edge 28.

A circumferential seal 73 is inserted into the groove 71, snapping behind the lugs 72, which comprises a cavity 74 and is thus elastically deformable. The lug-shaped housing edge 28 is thus pressed against the lugs 72 by the cavity seal 73/74 and is thus held on the frame without tension. Falling out of the cover trough is achieved by means of holders, not shown in detail, which act on the cover trough without tension.

In the groove 81, a seal 82 is poured in the form of casting resin, in which the edge of the cover trough is poured. This "pouring part" can of course also be a preformed sealing part which is held in the groove. The sealing part can have a lip 83, as shown in FIG. 8, which encompasses the flange edge of the cover trough 20.

Figure 9 shows an embodiment similar to Figure 7. The frame 90 has a groove 91 similar to the groove 71 with lugs 92 projecting inwards into the groove at the outer upper end thereof. A seal 93 with a cavity 94 and an L-shaped lip 95 is inserted into the groove behind the lugs 92, the lip 93 engaging over the flange edge of the cover trough and holding the cover trough in place.

The advantages achieved by the invention are, in particular, that the cover trough 20 is used in the recess 19, 51, 71, 81, 91 practically completely free of tension and is also held in it free of tension. This means that the cover trough no longer has to be specially designed or used for sealing purposes and thus be loaded or deformed; rather, the frame 14, 50, 70, 80, 90 is provided for this purpose, which can be made of a suitable material and must accordingly have sufficient strength. The individual closure elements such as hinge and possibly screw elements are molded onto this frame, which considerably simplifies the production of the cover trough.
