Abstract

The static mixing device employs mixing elements, each of which has at least three transversely spaced webs. The webs are spaced transversely from each other to provide gaps through which a fluid may pass during mixing. In addition, each web while being secured to the casing at the upper ends relative to a downward flow has lower terminal ends which are spaced from the casing to provide further gaps through which the liquid may pass during a downward descent.

Description

The invention relates to a static mixing device for fluids containing or consisting of solid particles according to the preamble of claim 1.

The known static mixing devices, as described, for example, in Swiss patents 642 564, 547 120 or 578 370, all have the disadvantage that they tend to become blocked when using fluids containing or consisting of solid particles. Such fluids can e.g. consist of different granules which are to be mixed homogeneously with one another or be liquids which contain fibers or other solid particles, for example.

Such cases occur, for example, in municipal wastewater treatment, e.g. when mixing chemicals in sludge, in the paper industry or also in the food industry, e.g. when mixing fruit pieces in yogurt.

A mixing device is also known from US-A-3733057, the mixing device consisting of a tubular housing with at least one mixing element arranged therein, which has two or more webs inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the housing, the outer contour of the webs being adapted to the housing wall .

This mixing device is essentially a mixer of the so-called "KENICS-NISCHER-TYPE", but there is a through channel in the center.

The invention is based, for media of the type mentioned above, i. even fluids consisting of piece goods or containing piece goods to create a blockage-free, static mixing device which also ensures homogeneous mixing with an acceptable pressure loss.

This object is achieved with features according to the characterizing part of patent claim 1.

The design according to the invention of a static mixing device prevents the settling or catching of solid particles between the webs and casing wall or between crossing webs with simple means, so that a perfect mixing can be carried out in the device.

The outer webs or the one ends of the inner webs can be welded or soldered to the tube wall, for example.

The device cross section can be both circular and have a different contour, e.g. be a rectangle.

To improve flow behavior with regard to good detachment at the web ends, the web cross sections can taper towards the free ends.

The cross sections and the longitudinal section shapes advantageously have aerodynamic contours, e.g. rectangular, elliptical or semicircular. The angle between the webs and the tube axis is advantageously in the range from 30 to 60 °, in particular 45 and 30 °.

If several mixing elements are arranged in a mixing device, an advantageous development of the invention can consist in that the successive ones. Mixing elements are each arranged at an angle, in particular offset by 90 °, in the housing. This ensures spatial homogeneity.

Advantageous applications that have already been experimentally tested are e.g. in that colored and non-colored plastic granulate is introduced into the mixing device through a drop pipe. When mixing, an even color distribution can be achieved.

Another application can e.g. consist of mixing flocculation chemicals in secondary sewage sludge in front of a centrifugal decanter of a municipal sewage treatment plant for sludge dewatering. The installation of a mixer according to the invention takes into account the requirement for an efficient use of the quantity of chemicals for rapid and uniform mixing.

  • Fig. 1 zeigt in perspektivischer Darstellungsweise ein zylindrisches Mantelrohr, in welchem zwei Mischelemente angeordnet sind,
The invention is explained below using exemplary embodiments.
  • 1 shows a perspective representation of a cylindrical jacket tube in which two mixing elements are arranged,
  • Fig. 2a-2d each have a cross section through such a mixing element, in four positions pivoted by 90 ° relative to each other.
  • 3 and 4 show a cross section and a longitudinal section through a modified form of a mixing element.

Here, each mixing element consists of three webs 2a to 2c, with a space remaining between the crossing webs, as can be clearly seen from FIGS. 2a to 2d.

It may be expedient to provide groove-like constrictions at the crossing points in order to enlarge the free space.

Although the embodiment of the invention shown in FIGS. 1 to 2d is a particularly advantageous embodiment, it is in principle also possible, depending on the process in which the mixing device is to be used, to design the mixing device with a plurality of webs. 3 and 4, a mixing element is shown, which is arranged in a tube 3 and which consists of two outer webs 4a and 4c and inner webs 4b, 4d and 4e.
