Definitions
- the present invention relates to an electric bell furnace, of modular construction.
- this furnace aims, among other things, to accelerate the normal cooling phase of a thermal cycle.
- the normal cooling phase is very long and therefore immobilizes the oven for long periods. This is due to the thermal accumulation in very heavy rooms, the high thermal insulation of efficient ovens and, incidentally, the high thermal accumulation in the walls of the brick oven for example.
- the oven according to the invention comprises a bell comprising a roof resting on a lifting device with jacks and a side wall suspended from the roof by means of tie rods provided with stops so that the roof can be raised relative to the side wall in order to provide an upper peripheral opening for the evacuation of the heat and so that the side wall can then be carried by the roof and be raised relative to the hearth of the oven in order to provide a peripheral opening lower for the introduction of fresh air inside the oven enclosure.
- the oven comprises a bell 10 suspended from beams 1 and placed on a hearth 20 using an elevating device with jacks housed in the columns 30.
- the bell 10 consists of a roof 11 suspended from the beams 1 and a side wall 12 suspended from the roof 11 by means of tie rods 3.
- the roof 11 and the side wall 12 as well as the floor 20 consist of a set of 'modular units which make it possible to build ovens of appropriate dimensions and easily expand an installation as and when required.
- the roof 11 rests on cylinder rods 32 housed in the columns 30 (FIG. 3) and the side wall 12 is fixed to the columns 30.
- the cylinder rods 32 move under the action of the hydraulic cylinders 31 controlled from a control station (not shown in the drawings) by means of conduits 33 running along peripheral profiles 2.
- Each vertical column 30 slides along a fixed inner tube 34 which is surmounted by a guide device 35 for the rod cylinder 32 and column 30 when the bell is lowered for placement on the hearth 20.
- the side wall 12 is formed by a set of modular units 13, each of them consisting of a metal sheet 14 folded over its periphery to form an outer frame 15 and the inner face of which is coated with a thermal insulating material 16.
- FIG. 4 shows the way in which the side wall 12 is connected to the roof 11.
- the upper modular units of the wall 12 are fitted with stirrups 4 carrying tubes 5 in which tie rods 3 fixed to the roof 11.
- the tie rods 3 are provided with stops 6 which can drive the stirrups 4 and the wall 12 when the tie rods 3, themselves driven by the roof, have made a certain displacement of axial translation.
- Figure 4 is shown the situation in which the roof has been raised by the rods of cylinders 32 until the stirrups 4 have come against the stops 6.
- the roof 11 is then moved away from the upper edge of the side wall 12 by a peripheral opening 40.
- Figure 5 shows in elevation the position of the bell when the oven is closed.
- the side wall 12 then rests on the floor 20 and the roof 11 is placed on the upper edge of the side wall 12. The oven is thus ready for a heating phase.
- the jacks 31 are actuated automatically from the control station in two stages. During the first step, the jacks 31 move the rods 32 upwards and lift the roof 11 which thus deviates from the side wall 12 of the bell, letting the hot air escape from the bell through the 'upper peripheral opening 40 ( Figure 6). To scale this exhaust of hot air and therefore scale the decrease in temperature of the oven, the jacks are actuated to raise and lower the roof 11 successively several times. As long as the stroke of the jack rods 32 does not exceed the length of the tie rods 3 up to their stops 6, the roof 11 moves away from the side wall 12 while the latter remains resting on the floor 20.
- the stops 6 drive the stirrups 4 which lift the side wall 12 (FIG. 7). This then follows the movement of the roof 11 and lifts with it, letting cold air enter the oven enclosure through the lower peripheral opening 50. During this step, the upper peripheral opening 40 enters the roof 11 and the side wall 12 remains so that the air is continuously renewed inside the oven, which accelerates the cooling thereof.
- the sole 20 is formed by a set of modular units 21 (FIG. 8).
- Each modular unit 21 (FIG. 9) comprises a metal base 22 formed of a sheet folded over its sides, a mattress of thermal insulating material 23 and a cover sheet 24.
- the base sheets 22 and cover 24 are pierced with openings through which pass metallic sections 25 serving as a workpiece holder.
- each modular unit has two workpiece carriers.
- Each profile 25 rests on the ground 20 by means of a support plate 26, thus producing a support piece with a large support surface while having a small section.
- the profiles 25 protrude from the cover sheet 24 and the projecting part is coated in a thermal insulating material 27.
- the outer insulating sleeve is surrounded by coiled irons 28.
- the workpiece carriers have only a small heat loss by conductivity to the ground and their large bearing surface allows them to take up heavy concentrated loads (several tonnes).
- the hearth according to the invention makes it possible to produce an oven not integrated into the foundations and easily movable from one hall to the other.
