Abstract

A hearing aid which can be built into a frame, such as eyeglasses, to be worn by a hearing-impaired person has a first microphone arrangement having a directional reception pattern, and a second microphone arrangement for sound locating. The second microphone arrangement includes a first locating microphone disposed in the region of one ear of the hearing-impaired person, and a second locating microphone disposed in the region of the other ear. The signal from both locating microphones are mixed by a low-pass filter with the signal from the microphone arrangement having a directional reception pattern, and the output of the mixing operation is supplied in common to both ears of the hearing-impaired person.

Description

The invention relates to a hearing aid according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

A hearing aid of this type is e.g. known from DE-OS 22 22 543. This hearing aid comprises a first microphone arrangement with directional characteristic, which consists of two microphones which are arranged on the wrist of a hearing-impaired person, in such a way that the main reception directions run parallel to one another, preferably in the direction of the outstretched fingers. The known hearing aid also includes a second microphone arrangement, which consists of a single microphone for broadcast reception, which is attached to the wrist between the two microphones of the directional microphone arrangement, in such a way that the direction of reception is mainly perpendicular to the palm. A switch enables the hearing impaired to switch between general broadcast reception and reception from a preferred direction. The microphone for broadcast reception can also be used in connection with the handset of a telephone set for making calls.

A hearing aid comprising two front microphones and two side microphones arranged near the ears is e.g. previously known from US-PS 37 89 163. The front microphones are not a directional microphone arrangement. The microphones arranged near the ears only serve to increase the sensitivity of the microphone arrangement to the sides in order to improve spatial hearing (effect of an all-round characteristic). An interconnection of the two microphones arranged near the ears with a directional microphone arrangement of the type mentioned at the outset would lead to the fact that these "location microphones" would destroy the directional characteristic of the directional microphone arrangement, particularly in the range of higher frequencies.

The object of the present invention is to further develop a hearing aid of the type mentioned at the outset such that spatial orientation is easily possible without destroying the directional characteristic of the directional microphone arrangement.

The object is achieved with the characterizing features of claim 1.

According to the present invention, a hearing-impaired person can use the low-pass filtered sound signals supplied by the first and second locating microphone to determine very quickly from which direction sound information that particularly interests him from a mixture of all-round sound originates. He can then turn his head in the direction of incidence of the sound information of interest and thus automatically align the first microphone arrangement with directional characteristic to the sound source emitting the sound information of interest. The directional characteristic of the directional microphone arrangement is practically not disturbed by the low-pass filtered, that is, low-frequency signals from the location microphones. In contrast to the previous one, the microphone for broadcast reception of the hearing aid of DE-OS 22 22 543 or US Pat. No. 37 89 163 does not allow any real selection of the direction, since spatial resolution is impossible. In contrast to the wearer of a hearing aid according to the present invention, the wearer of such a hearing aid is therefore not able to recognize the direction from which sound signals that interest him originate. He can only determine the direction from which the sound information of interest comes in by switching from broadcast reception to directional reception and then scanning the surrounding area in a cumbersome and time-consuming manner with the aid of the directional microphone arrangement until the signals of interest previously found in broadcast reception are in the Reception range of the directional microphone arrangement are.

Further advantages and details of the invention emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing and in conjunction with the subclaims.

  • FIG. 1 shows an exemplary embodiment of the hearing device according to the invention as hearing glasses to be worn by a hearing impaired person in a schematic illustration,
  • FIG. 2 shows an exemplary embodiment of a directional microphone arrangement in the basic circuit diagram,
  • Figure 3 shows the hearing glasses of Figure 1 in a more detailed perspective view.

In Figure 1, the head of a hearing impaired is shown at 1. The left ear is labeled 2 and the right ear is labeled 3. The nose of the hearing impaired bears the number 4. As shown in Figure 1, the hearing impaired wearing a hearing aid 5 designed as hearing glasses.

The hearing glasses 5 comprise a glasses frame 6 with glasses 7, 8 (FIG. 3). It also includes a first temple 9 for the left ear 2 and a second temple 10 for the right ear 3.

A first pair of spherical microphone capsules M1, M2 (eg Knowles microphones) are located in the first spectacle temple 9 near the hinge 11 and a second pair of spherical microphone capsules M1 ', M2' are accordingly located in the second spectacle temple 10 near the hinge 12 (eg Knowles microphones). In both pairs, the spherical microphone capsules sit one behind the other at a distance of, for example, d = 5 mm. Both spherical microphone-capsule pairs M1, M2 and M1 ', M2 ' form a directional microphone arrangement when connected in accordance with FIG. The components are non-inverting and inverting amplifiers 13, 14 and 13 ', 14', differentiators 15 and 15 'with adjustable basic amplification and a summing element 16. The pronounced directional characteristic results from the superposition of two hypercardioids. In principle, however, any other type of directional microphone arrangement can also be used.

According to the present invention, two locating microphones M01, M02 (e.g. Knowles spherical microphones) are also arranged in both temple pieces 9, 10, such that when the hearing glasses are on, the first locating microphone M01 above the left ear and the second locating microphone M02 above the right ear of the hearing impaired pla is adorned. The location microphones M01, M02 can also be attached inside the ear cup. When arranged in the area of the ears, the damping effect of the head 1 is greatest, so that there is an optimal locating effect. Low frequencies («800 Hz) are decisive for locating hearing. The signals from the two location microphones M01 and M02 are therefore preferably mixed in via low-pass filters with a corresponding cut-off frequency, as is shown even more clearly in FIG.

Die Bauelemente 38 und 39 sind je eine Batterie zur Stromversorgung über Versorgungsleitungen 40 und 41.3, the components 13, 13 ', 14, 14', 15, 15 'and 16 shown in the block diagram 17 in the block diagram 17 in FIG. 3 are divided into two circuit electronics blocks 19 and 20 in the hearing glasses 5. The two circuit electronics blocks 19 and 20 are connected to one another via the connecting lines 21, which are led through the spectacle arms and the spectacle frame or in another way (not shown in FIG. 3). The output signal line for the signal S A (FIG. 2) leads in the temple 9 via a first branch line 22 to an adder 23. Accordingly, in the other temple 10, the signal S A leads via another branch 24 to an adder 25. The adder 23 is transferred a signal line 26 also feeds the microphone signal filtered by the low-pass filter 27 to the locating microphone capsule M01. Correspondingly, the adder 25 in the second temple piece 10 receives the signal of the locating microphone capsule M02 via the signal line 28 with a low-pass filter 29. The adder 23 is connected on the output side via a signal line 30 to the input of an amplifier 31. Accordingly, the adder 25 is coupled to the input of an amplifier 33 via a signal line 32. At the output of the amplifier 31, the receiver 34 is located for the left ear canal of the hearing impaired. Accordingly, the receiver 35 for the right ear canal of the hearing impaired is located at the output of the amplifier 33. The earphones are usually connected to the ear canals via hose connections and ear tips (not shown). However, the listeners can also be placed directly in the ear canal, as is customary with in-the-ear hearing aids. In the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 3, the hose connection on the left is indicated by 36 and the hose connection on the right by 37. Components 38 and 39 are each a battery for power supply via supply lines 40 and 41.

As mentioned before, the two microphones M01 and M02 serve as location microphones. When the hearing glasses are on, the microphone M01 is directly above the left ear and the microphone M02 above the right ear of the hearing impaired. The hearing impaired can locate a sound source of interest via the two location microphones MO1 and M02 and turn their head with the hearing glasses in the direction of this sound source. When the head is directed towards the sound source, the directional microphone arrangement M1, M2, M1 ', 1 M2 ' can fully develop its effect.

In the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 3, all components, including the microphones, are accommodated in the temple pieces. Of course, these components can also be combined in assemblies that are to be attached to the brackets so that they are actually outside the brackets. Instead of glasses, a kind of headband can also be used to hold the microphones M1, M2, M1 ', M2' and M01, M02.
