Abstract
To cover an open container (1), the contents of which are to be heated in a microwave oven, a cellophane film (2) is used, which has ventilation holes (3).
Description
The invention relates to a cover for an open container, the content of which is to be heated in a microwave oven, and to a method for covering the content of such a container.
It is already known to open containers, the contents of which are to be heated in a microwave oven, with a glass lid or the like. to prevent drying of the top layer of the contents due to heating. However, such a glass lid must be essentially adapted to the shape of the container and have a stable position on it, i.e. Such a glass lid cannot reasonably cover containers of any shape.
It is an object of the invention to provide a cover which is suitable for any shape of open container and which enables the contents of the container to be heated in a microwave oven.
To solve this problem, a cover made of a cellophane has ventilation holes, the Cellular glass film is preferably transparent.
Such a cellophane film can be applied particularly well and easily to the open, generally bowl-shaped or pot-shaped container, for example by the cellophane film being moistened, placed over the container opening and pressed on the opening edge and on this adjoining outer surface area of the container wall, so that it adheres to the container and is not blown off the container by the air flow generated by the fan of the microwave oven. When heated by the microwave radiation, the film is dried and then stretched over the container opening, while the air which expands as a result of heating in the container can escape from the container through the ventilation holes.
By choosing cellophane film as a cover, all difficulties that arise with other film covers or flexible covers are avoided. For example, polyethylene films are not suitable for covering containers to be heated in microwave ovens because they are softened by the microwave radiation and gases escape from them. Paper that could be used in a microwave oven is not transparent on the one hand, so it does not allow a view of the container contents, and on the other hand can hardly be attached to the container in such a simple way that it is not blown away by the air draft generated by the fan.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the figure.
In the figure, an open container 1, for example made of glass or porcelain, is shown, the Opening is closed with a
As shown, the cellophane film contains
