Description

The present invention relates to a self-defense rod for defense against attackers by means of high electrical voltage, comprising a housing, a handle, two pairs of electrodes on the outside of the housing which are spatially separated from one another, a high-voltage circuit accommodated inside the rod, together with batteries and a trigger switch, a first pair of electrodes on the the handle opposite end of the housing is attached and the second pair of electrodes is present on the housing.

The basis for the function of such self-defense rods is that touching a high, low-frequency alternating voltage leads to a brief paralysis of the nervous system, although there is no danger to the heart or other organs due to the very low current intensity.

The self-defense staff described in the introduction is already known from US-A-3 362 711. This self-defense rod has the disadvantage that in the event that an attacker grabs the rod with his hand, there is a constant connection between the electrodes and thus also to the high-voltage connections, so that it is not possible for a new potential to build up can, which in turn can lead to the desired surges. So this well-known self-defense staff is ineffective.

The present invention has for its object to provide a self-defense rod with which an effective and secure defense against attackers is possible.

According to the invention, this is achieved in that the electrodes of the pair of electrodes arranged on the housing are interrupted by a spark gap with respect to the high-voltage connection and are formed on the upper housing third from strips of self-adhesive film running parallel to the central axis of the housing, branches of the electrodes designed as metal pins being connected by a closure plate on the End face of the housing are led out to the side surface and the exposed ends of the branches form the spark gap with the opposite ends of the side electrodes.

Because of this configuration according to the invention, if the lateral electrodes are in constant contact by enclosing the housing, the electrodes are connected to one another so that they can now be live. Flashovers can now build up between the opposite ends of the branches and the electrodes with the desired high voltage, so that new high-voltage shocks can always be given over the housing in the area of the lateral electrodes.

Further advantageous design features of the invention are contained in the subclaims and the description below.

The self-defense rod shown in Fig. 1 consists of a housing 1 and an adjoining handle 2, wherein the housing 1 and the handle 2 are advantageously formed in one piece, preferably with a circular cross section. The surface of the handle 2 is provided with a knurling or a similar roughening for safe guidance of the self-defense rod. The end face of the housing 1 opposite the handle 2 is advantageously firmly closed by a circular insulating plate 3. This end closure plate 3 carries a pair of electrodes 4, these end electrodes 4 advantageously consisting of metal pins which protrude from the closure plate 3. In the upper third of the rod opposite the handle 2, a second pair of electrodes 5 made of self-adhesive metal foil, in particular copper foil, is arranged in strips on the lateral surface of the housing 1. These metal strips 5 are advantageously arranged parallel to the center axis of the housing and are diametrically opposite one another. Both pairs of electrodes 4, 5 are connected to an electronic high-voltage circuit which is arranged in the housing 1 adjoining the handle 2. The interior of the housing 1 is advantageously filled with casting resin, including the high-voltage circuit. This has the advantage that the self-defense rod is extremely impact-resistant and thus also ideally suited for mechanical defense against attackers. The batteries required to generate the high voltage are advantageously arranged in the handle 2, preferably at the end by a cover 6 can be closed by a screw cap. For secure guidance of the self-defense rod, this screw cap 6 is provided with a hand strap 7. A trigger switch 8 is arranged in the area of the handle 2, namely at the end facing the electrodes. By actuating this trigger switch 8, a low-frequency alternating voltage U of approximately 32,000 V is generated by means of the electronic high-voltage circuit. The actuation of the trigger switch 8 is advantageously indicated by a function control lamp 9 in addition to the above-mentioned arcing between the front electrodes 4. This control lamp 9 is arranged above the trigger switch 8 in the wall of the handle 2.

The advantage of this function control lamp is on the one hand that the proper functioning of the self-defense rod even with short-circuited electrodes, for. B. is displayed while touching an object or an attacker. On the other hand, the control lamp 9 also ensures battery control. If the battery voltage drops z. B. from 5 V, the control lamp 9 no longer lights up when the trigger switch 8 is actuated, the battery must be replaced.

Hierzu ist in der Gehäusewandung eine Öffnung 13 vorgesehen, in der der Verriegelungshebel 12 mittels einer Drehachse 14 gelagert ist (siehe Fig. 3).FIG. 2 shows a further embodiment of a self-defense rod, the parts corresponding to the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1 being designated with the same reference numbers. To keep the self-defense stick for storage and transportation, e.g. B. in a women's handbag, to make it smaller and more compact, it is provided that the housing 1 and the handle 2 are formed in two pieces and are pivotally connected to one another by a hinge 11 by 180 °. For this purpose, it is expedient if the housing 1 and the handle 2 have a rectangular cross section. In the side wall of the housing 1 opposite the hinge 11, the handle 2 is in the position of use, i.e. in the unfolded state, locking lever 12 rotatably mounted. For this purpose, an opening 13 is provided in the housing wall, in which the locking lever 12 is mounted by means of an axis of rotation 14 (see FIG. 3).

The locking lever 13 can advantageously be latched with a hook-shaped end 15 into a locking opening 16 in the wall of the handle 2 in the unfolded state of the handle 2 and unlockable for folding in the handle 2 by means of an actuating piece 17 opposite the hook-shaped end 15.

This retractability of the handle 2 makes it possible to provide protection against unintentional actuation of the trigger switch 8, by advantageously supplying the high-voltage circuit in the housing 1 with battery voltage only when the handle 2 is folded out and locked in the position of use. According to Fig. 3 it is provided that two electrical contacts 18 are arranged on the opposite side of the battery cover 6 of the handle 2 such that they with two further contacts 19 of the opposite side of the pair of electrodes 4 opposite end of the housing 1 in the unfolded state of the Grip piece 2 are in contact. As soon as the handle 2 is folded in, the contacts 18, 19 are separated, so that the self-defense rod can be handled safely and accommodated in a pocket, for example.

Dadurch können die stirnseitigen Elektroden 4 beim Transport einerseits nicht beschädigt werden und andererseits auch selbst keine sonstigen Beschädigungen verursachen.4 shows a further possibility of preventing the trigger switch 8 from being actuated inadvertently. The trigger switch 8 is arranged recessed in the wall of the handle 2 and can advantageously be covered by a cover slide 20 arranged displaceably in the wall of the handle 2. In this embodiment it can also be provided that the front electrodes 4 are retractably mounted in the front locking plate 3 of the housing 1 and are connected to the cover slide 20 via an actuating rod guided within the housing 1 such that they are in the covered state of the trigger switch 8 are sunk and protrude from the closure plate 3 in the open state of the trigger switch 8. As a result, the electrodes 4 on the end cannot be damaged on the one hand during transport and on the other hand cannot cause any other damage themselves.

Due to the described advantageous embodiment of the self-defense staff, an effective and extremely secure defense against attackers is thus possible while at the same time being safe and practical to use.

The front electrodes 4 each have branches 22 which run within the closure plate 3. The closure plate 3 is in the embodiment shown an end plate of the plug cap 23, which has circumferential ribs 24 on the outside of the cap wall, so that it can be inserted into the open end of the housing 1 by clamping. The branches 22 end on the peripheral surface of the closure plate 3, in such a way that the exposed ends are arranged above the side electrodes 5. The outer ends of the branches 22 thus form a spark gap with the opposite ends of the electrodes 5. There is therefore no direct, electrically conductive connection between the branches 22 of the electrodes 4 and the side electrodes 5, rather these parts are separated from one another in the exemplary embodiment shown by an air gap, so that the side electrodes are free of voltage. This configuration has the advantage that in the event of continuous contact of the side electrodes 5 by embracing the Housing 1 connects the electrodes to each other, so that they can now be live. Flashovers can now build up between the opposite ends of the branches 22 and the electrodes 5 with the desired high voltage, so that new high-voltage shocks are repeatedly given to the person holding the housing in the area of the electrodes 5.

A spark gap can also be formed in the end electrodes by dividing the electrodes 4 into two electrode sections. The provision of a spark gap between the electrodes and the high-voltage circuit ensures that the rod remains fully functional when the electrodes are in constant contact with an attacker.

Furthermore, the batteries located in the housing can each be arranged separately in trough-shaped containers that are open on one side, resilient contact elements being contained in these containers, which are conductively connected to the two poles of the battery under resilient contact and at the same time keep the battery jammed in the container. The contact elements are led outwards, the two containers being connected to one another at the end face, advantageously by means of a tongue and groove connection, at the same time through-connection of the batteries taking place in such a way that the two batteries are connected in series. Contacts are arranged on the receptacle for the batteries that lies furthest inside the housing in the inserted state, which in the inserted state produce a conductive connection with the high-voltage circuit in the housing. A flip-up bracket is attached to the other container on the end facing the housing opening, on which the interconnected containers can be pulled out of the housing.
