The stop plate 41 connects the ends of the two telescopic arms 22 and 23, while the stop plate 42 is integral with arm 24 and its other end extends into a notch in the arm 13 formed between the two flanges 31. These abutment plates 41 and 42 can be used to position the cheeks of the coil 7. On the other hand, they are linked to an operating mechanism which comprises two threaded rods 43, 44, two fixed nuts 45, 46 mounted on the plate of the carriage 20, and a drive sleeve 47 which connects the two threaded rods 43 and 44 between the nuts 45 and 46. Keys integral with the threaded rods 43 and 44 slide in an internal longitudinal groove of the sleeve 47 so that the rotation imparted to the mechanism by a crank 48 firstly rotates the rod 43 in the nut 45, but also by means of the sleeve 47 the rod 44 in the nut 46. It is understood that , the directions of the threads of the two screws 43 and 44 being reversed, if the crank is turned in one direction, the rods move in their respective nuts away from one another, whereas, if the 'we turn the crank in the other direction, they get closer. There is thus obtained a control mechanism of the telescopic arms 22, 23 and 24 which is of a very simple construction and very easy to maneuver. The arrangement of this mechanism is all the more judicious since, as it is mounted on the carriage, if one wanted to use a jack mechanism for example, it would be necessary to provide supplies of control fluid by means of flexible pipes. which would complicate the installation.
