Description

The invention relates to a headrest in the form of an occasional piece of furniture for lying down for the examination and treatment of patients according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a headrest is described in US-A-4,392,645. The known device allows a temporary head fixation for surgical interventions. There are also couches for examining and treating patients. These generally have a rectangular cushioned pad for the patient. Some loungers also have a head section that can be opened and closed compared to the elongated support surface, i.e. via a head part, which can be pivoted on a narrow side of the bed and can be fixed horizontally but also in a positive or negative inclined position to the horizontal by means of special devices, for example catches, clamp closures or the like.

The advantages of such head rests for examinations and therapy are known. On the one hand, the precise fixation of a patient's skull makes surgery possible in the first place. On the other hand, the relaxed position of the patient's head creates the conditions for a sensible examination and treatment of the patient's neck and upper back. Such an examination and treatment is not possible with the couches mentioned at the beginning, which do not have a headrest.

It is therefore the object of the invention to provide a headrest in the form of a side piece of furniture for lying down for the examination and treatment of patients in the prone position, who complement the conventional simple lying down and thus make them suitable for the treatment and examination mentioned.

According to the invention, this object is achieved with a headrest according to the preamble of claim 1, which is characterized by the features of the characterizing part of claim 1.

Further advantageous embodiments of the headrest according to the invention result from the subclaims.

  • Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht der erfindungsgemäßen Kopfauflage mit schräggestelltem Kopfteil, teilweise das Kopfteil geschnitten;
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown. The drawing shows:
  • Figure 1 is a side view of the headrest according to the invention with an inclined head part, partially cut the head part.
  • FIG. 2 shows a top view of the head part of the headrest according to FIG. 1.

As can be seen from the drawing, the headrest 1 in the form of a piece of furniture for a bed, not shown in the drawing, consists essentially of the tripod stand 2 and the head part 14 fastened to the pivot bearing 11 at the upper end of the stand. The stand 2 consists of the three legs 4a, 4b and 4c, which are screwed into the node 7 by means of corresponding threaded parts 5a, 5b, 5c. The junction 7 consists of a cylindrical section with an axially symmetrical bore, into which the base tube 3 is inserted and fixed so far that it still lies about 2 cm above the floor in the floor area. At the end of the three legs 4a, 4b, 4c rubber plugs 6a, 6b, 6c are attached, which give the furniture greater slip resistance. In the base tube 3, a second upper tube 8 is arranged to be telescopically displaceable. The upper tube 8 is fixed in the base tube 3 by means of the fastening screw 10, which is guided in the head 9 fastened on the base tube 3 and extends through a corresponding bore in the base tube 3 to the surface of the upper tube 8. In this way, a simple height adjustment is possible after loosening the fastening screw 10.

At the upper end of the upper tube 8, a pivot bearing 11 is attached. The pivot bearing 11 has an elongated slot 12 for receiving the support frame 13 for the head part 14. In the embodiment shown, the support frame consists of the two arms 13a, 13b, which overlap one another in the slot 12 and are guided over the bolt 20 of the fixing screw 21. The upper ends of the arms 13a, 13b end in heads 22, 23 which are also provided with slots 24, 25 in which the upper arm ends are fastened. This embodiment has the advantage that, after removing the head part 14, the arms 13a, 13b can be folded down into the plane of the head part 14. As a result, the entire headrest can be packaged and transported in a simple manner in a flat package, for example in a briefcase. All you have to do is unscrew the three legs 4a, 4b, 4c of the three-legged tripod from the corresponding threaded holes for the threaded connectors 5a, 5b, 5c at node 7 and pack them. The upper tube 8 can also be removed in a simple manner from the base tube 3 after loosening the fastening screw 10, as a result of which the overall length of the central carrier is shortened and the package is reduced accordingly.

However, it is also possible to guide the head part 14 in the pivot bearing 11 by means of a one-piece round bracket, not shown in the drawing. The shape of the bracket or the angular position of the two arms of the support frame are chosen so that contact with the patient's face is avoided, which rests in the recess 18 of the head part 14. This recess 18 is selected so that the patient has free mouth and nose area in the examination or treatment position, i.e. that this lot is not covered by the document.

The approximately elliptical cutout shown in FIG. 2 has proven to be a suitable shape for the cutout 18 for the head part 14, it being possible for the two ends to be straightened with greater curvature, as is shown in the drawing. In a practical embodiment there is a longitudinal extension of the off saving 18 by 19 cm and a width of 12 cm was found to be useful to allow the patient to breathe relaxed and fatigue-free in the prone position. The entire head part 14 has a longitudinal extension of 34 cm and a transverse extension of 30 cm. It goes without saying that the invention is not restricted to these dimensions.

The head part 14, as can be seen from the partial section of the side view according to FIG. 1 in the left area, consists of a board 15, a foam pad 16 and a suitable smooth cover 17.

The shape of the recess 18 in the head part 14 can be seen particularly well in the plan view according to FIG. 2. The more curved narrow end regions of the recess 18 can be somewhat straightened, as shown in FIG. 2; however, these parts can also be rounded, following the usual ellipse.

The headrest described once again offers the advantages already mentioned in summary that it initially allows a couch designed without a head section to be readily converted into an examination and treatment couch. The easy height adjustment offers the advantage of better adaptation to the physiological conditions of the patient to be examined and / or treated compared to the attached headrests. The construction described finally offers the advantage of easy transportability, since the device can be dismantled in a simple manner and assembled into a flat package.
