Definitions
- the invention is based on a commutator according to the first part of patent claim 1.
- the segments are formed from sections of two extruded parts of different cross-section, the segments being provided with anchoring means formed on both sides at the foot end symmetrically to the central axis of the segments.
- Such commutators have the disadvantage that they are not sufficiently spin-resistant for high-speed motors, especially when the segments are anchored in an asbestos-free insulating body, because the centrifugal and tangential forces acting on the commutator act as pulling and tilting forces on the segments.
- the radial component of the tilting forces increases the radial tensile forces, which lead to damage to the insulating body, especially in the base area of the segments.
- connection areas for fastening the associated winding ends of the armature of an electrical machine are relatively small, so that, disadvantageously, an adequately centrifugal and heat-resistant fastening of the winding ends to the commutator segments isolates the insulation between the segments in the connection area for can damage the winding ends.
- a commutator is known, the segments of which have anchoring means which engage in undercut grooves of a sleeve-shaped segment carrier made of steel.
- the anchoring means of the segments and the segment carrier are insulated from one another by insulating bars of different dimensions, spacers, by an insulating film lining the outer jacket of the segment carrier including all undercut grooves or by U-shaped groove linings, the remaining spaces being filled with a polyester resin.
- the segments themselves are isolated from one another by individual insulating strips which are clamped between the segments and fill the segment partial grooves.
- a commutator is known from US-A-2519 626, the segments of which are formed from blanks punched out of relatively thin flat material, which are bent and folded into the form of segments. They have a dovetail-shaped anchoring foot running in the longitudinal direction of the commutator, behind the legs of which two clamping rings engage, which hold the commutator together. Thin mica sheets are used between the segments as insulation.
- the invention has for its object to provide a commutator, the segments of which are to be designed such that essentially their anchoring means can largely prevent the action of the undesirable tensile forces on the insulating material which forms the insulating body and fills the segmental grooves.
- the advantage here is that the disadvantages of the known commutators are eliminated by the inventive design of the segments, especially their anchoring means, in that the segments are linked together radially and tangentially to the longitudinal axis of the commutator.
- the insulating material forming the insulating body and filling the insulating grooves between the segments is advantageously largely freed from tensile forces.
- Another advantage is that the winding ends of the inventive commutator can be attached to the commutator segments in a sufficiently spin-proof and heat-resistant manner without undesirably influencing the insulation between the segments.
- inventive commutator can be designed as a drum commutator both without and with connection lugs for fastening the winding ends.
- connection lugs on the segments additional interlinking in the area of the lugs is made possible, without impairing the insulation between the connecting lugs and the fastening of the winding ends in the lug slots.
- the inventive form of the commutator segments enables the economical production of a commutator segment ring by, for example, extrusion as a cold forming process or, above all, in the case of flagless segments, the formation thereof by cutting off a strand with the cross section of the segments with molded anchoring means.
- Commutators for electrical machines consist of mutually insulated segments which are fastened to an insulating body and have a connection area for the ends of a rotor winding of an electrical machine.
- a bearing bush is generally arranged in the insulating body, through which the rotor shaft of the electrical machine extends.
- the segments are formed, for example, from an extruded or a metal strip-rolled commutator segment ring, in which the sections connecting the individual segments are removed after the insertion of the insulating body, or they are assembled from individual extruded or punched sections or parts and in the insulating body anchored or braced with retaining rings.
- the segments can form drum commutators with and without connecting lugs or face commutators. All commutators require good anchoring of the segments to prevent them from being flung out. In addition, the insulation between the segments and the heat resistance of the insulation must be guaranteed.
- FIG. 1 A first exemplary embodiment of the inventive commutator is shown in FIG. 1.
- the commutator 1 has a bearing sleeve 2 which is arranged in an insulating body 3.
- Commutator segments 4 made of electrically conductive material such as copper are anchored on the circumference of the insulating body 3.
- the commutator segments 4 - hereinafter referred to as segments 4 - are formed from a commutator segment ring produced by cold forming, for example extrusion, as its inner ribs.
- the anchoring means are molded onto the inner ribs forming the segments 4.
- the inventive form of the anchoring means is particularly suitable for commutators with a small outside diameter and / or narrow segment division.
- the anchoring means consist of two legs 5 and 6, which border on a recess 7 on the inner end face of the segments 4.
- the legs 5 and 6 and the recess 7 extend over the entire length of the segments 4.
- the segments 4 have a substantially trapezoidal cross-section with a running surface 8 which is curved in accordance with the diameter of the commutator 1 for the brushes of the electrical machine (not shown).
- the long sides 9 and 10 of each segment 4 have a bevel 11 or 12 which narrows the segment 4 and to which the legs 5 and 6 are connected at right angles to obtuse angles.
- the leg 5 is designed as a short extension, which extends at an acute angle to the center line of the segment 4, which in turn runs radially through the longitudinal axis of the commutator 1.
- the leg 5 protrudes somewhat beyond the longitudinal side 9 in the circumferential direction.
- the leg 6, on the other hand, is essentially semicircular in shape, approximately around the center line of the segment groove 13 filled with the insulating material of the insulating body 3 between two adjacent segments 4. This center line also runs radially through the longitudinal axis of the commutator 1.
- the leg 6 engages approximately at a distance the width of the segment partial groove 13 the leg 5 of the adjacent segment 4 and protrudes into the recess 7.
- the segments 4 are linked together by the anchoring means 5 and 6 in a radial and tangential manner.
- the compressive and tensile forces acting on the commutator 1 due to centrifugal and frictional forces during operation of the electrical machine can no longer eject the segments 4 anchored in the insulating body 3, particularly since the insulating material - as known per se - is more resistant to compressive forces than to tensile forces is.
- the commutator 1 shown in FIG. 1 is provided at one end with connecting lugs 14 which have been formed during the extrusion of the commutator segment ring.
- the connecting lugs 14 are separated from one another by lug grooves 15.
- the flag partial grooves 15 start from the associated segment partial grooves 13. They have an essentially S-shaped section, to which an end section aligned with the associated segment partial groove 13 connects in the area of the flag slot 16 of each connecting lug 14.
- In the flag slots 16 are the associated ends of the rotor winding in a manner known per se and not shown in detail attached.
- the S-shape of the flag partial grooves 15 results in an additional radial and tangential concatenation of the segments 4, which are each provided with a recess 17 and 18 and a projection 19 and 20 projecting into these recesses 17, 18 of the adjacent segments 4.
- the spin resistance of the commutator 1 is further increased.
- FIG. 21 A second exemplary embodiment of the commutator is shown in FIG.
- the shape of its anchoring means is particularly suitable for larger diameter commutators.
- the commutator 21 in turn has a bearing sleeve 22 through which a drive shaft of an electrical machine, which carries the rotor, projects in a manner known per se and not shown in detail.
- the bearing sleeve 22 is arranged in an insulating body 23.
- the insulating body 23 is again introduced into a commutator segment ring produced, for example, by extrusion, the commutator segments of which — in the following for short segments 24 — form inner ribs after the Anchoring the segments 24 in the insulating body 23 have been separated.
- the segments 24 in turn consist of an approximately trapezoidal outer section with a running surface 25 which is curved in accordance with the diameter of the commutator 21.
- the longitudinal sides 26 and 27 which run towards one another delimit segmental grooves 28 filled with the material of the insulating body 23 when the insulating body 23 is formed, between the adjacent segments 24 in the circumferential direction .
- Anchoring means are formed on the inner section of the segment 24 for fastening the segments 24 to the insulating body 23. They consist of two legs 29 and 30, which extend over the entire length of the respective segment 24 and delimit a recess 31 on the end face of the segment 24 . The recess 31 is arranged off-center on the segment 24. The legs 29 and 30 are bent outwards in the circumferential direction.
- insulating bodies 23 and 29 engage at a distance forming the insulating grooves 35 approximately the width of the segment partial grooves 28 in an associated recess 31 and 34 of the two adjacent segments 24.
- the segments 24 of the commutator 21 are thus also linked to one another in a radial and tangential manner.
- the insulating body 23, together with its extensions filling the insulating and segment partial grooves 35, 28, is relieved of tensile and compressive forces, which act on the commutator 21 as centrifugal force or frictional force during operation of the electrical machine.
- the segments 24 of the commutator 21 shown in FIG. 2 are additionally provided with connecting lugs 36 as a modification of the one described above.
- the connecting lugs 36 are formed from a flange formed on one end of the commutator segment ring.
- 36 flag partial grooves 37 are formed between the connecting lugs, which are filled with the same insulating material when the insulating body 23 is formed.
- the flag partial grooves 37 have an approximately N-shaped section which starts from the associated segment partial grooves 28. A straight end section adjoins the ⁇ -shaped section and is aligned with the segment partial groove 28.
- Each terminal lug 36 is provided with a flag slot 38.
- the fi-shape of the flag partial grooves 37 likewise results in an additional radial and tangential concatenation of the segments 24.
- the fl-shape is namely formed by two lugs 39 and 40 which protrude in the circumferential direction beyond one side of a connecting lug 36 and enclose a recess 41 in FIG which engages a projection 42 which is formed on the opposite side of the adjacent terminal lug 36.
- the projection 42 and the lugs 39, 40 are undercut in relation to the circumferential direction, similar to the ends 32, 33 of the anchoring legs 29, 30, in order to prevent damage to the insulating material in the grooves 28 and 37, in particular, that occurs on the commutator 21 Tangential forces caused when the electrical machine is in operation.
- the exemplary embodiments of the commutators described above have segments 4 and 24 which, in a manner known per se and not shown in detail, are formed as inner ribs by cold forming, for example by extrusion, of a commutator segment ring.
- the inner ribs are through the segment grooves 13; 28 and flag partial grooves 15; 37 bridging webs connected after the introduction of the insulating material in the grooves 15; 37 and the formation of the insulating body 3; 23 be removed as is known.
- the segments emerging from a commutator segment ring can be made as waste-free sections of a strand with the inventive cross section of the segments 4; 24 to commutators 1; 21 are assembled in a known manner.
