Abstract

A ventilation appliance 108 serves in particular for the air supply to rooms by means of an electrically operated blower 132 in the installation region of windows, in particular heat and/or sound insulation windows. In this connection, measures are taken to achieve, with minimum technical expenditure, a use-dependent and requirement- matched ventilation without irritating ventilation noises arising. The housing 107 of the ventilation appliance 108 has an air passage opening 131 facing the room, which can be alternatively opened and closed by means of a butterfly valve 130. It also has, however, an air passage opening 117 facing away from the room, and there is provided between two parallel long-side walls 121 and 122 a blower 132 with a drum-shaped impeller 133. The impeller 133 of the blower 132 has a large diameter in relation to its axial length and the overall thickness of the housing 107 in the direction of the axis of the impeller is dimensioned smaller than the width of the free, room-side visible surface of conventional frame and/or casement profiles for windows and doors. <IMAGE>
