Abstract

Zur Herstellung von Titandioxid-Konzentraten entfernt man das Eisen sowie gegebenenfalls Mangan und Vanadium aus deren Oxide aufweisendem titanoxidhaltigem Material mit Hilfe von chlorhaltigen Gasen ohne Zusatz von Kohlen­ stoff in einer Chlorierungszone bei Temperaturen von über 900°C. Dabei werden Sauerstoff sowie flüchtige Eisenchloride und gegebenenfalls Manganchlorid und Vanadiumchloride freigesetzt. Die aus der Chlorierungszone abströmende Gas­ phase läßt man in einer nachgeschalteten Oxygenierungszo­ ne bei Temperaturen von 550 bis 900°C unter Bildung von Chlor und Metalloxiden reagieren. Schließlich trennt man die chlorhaltigen Gase bei Temperaturen von weniger als 300°C von den mit nicht umgesetzten Anteilen der Metallchloride verunreinigten Metalloxiden ab und führt die chlorhaltigen Gase in die Chlorierungszone zurück.
