Description

The invention relates to a block-shaped component with cavities for a facade of a two-layer masonry.

In the case of double-layer masonry, the air space between the walls is ventilated with the help of open butt joints or ventilation stones, which are provided in the area of the bottom point in the facade, that is the outer wall. This ventilation no longer works if mortar residues fall into the air space during bricking and collect at the bottom point. They clog the area behind the butt joints or the ventilation stones and thus prevent the supply of circulating air. The mortar residues are then transmitters of penetrating rainwater and condensation. It is not possible to remove the mortar residues.

It is known to particularly line individual butt joints in masonry of the type described. In the embodiment known from EP-A-0 137 466, a tubular square element is used as a joint replacement, which can additionally be provided with a sieve insert. In the embodiment known from US-A-3 257 929, a U-profile which is open at the top and bottom and is provided on the connecting web with blind-like openings is inserted vertically into the butt joint, which fills part of the joint and its upper end face and the joint itself through a molded angled sheet are covered. In the embodiment known from US-A-2 934 931, a U-profile which is open at the front and rear and covered at the front with an angled hood is inserted into the joint, at the connecting web of which a transversely extending angle plate which fills the air space is connected at the rear. From US-A-2 772 622 it is also known to make a hole in a shaped stone, insert a tube into the bore and close the tube on the front by a streamlined cover open at the bottom. None of the known components allow access to the bottom point of the air space in order to remove mortar residues.

The invention, as characterized in claim 1, solves the problem of creating a block-shaped component for a facade of a two-layer masonry, which once ensures the supply of circulating air, on the other hand allows access to the bottom point of the air space.

The component according to the invention ensures both the supply of circulation air and the weather resistance of the facade when the hood is attached.

With the hood removed at times, the component ensures easy access in the area of the base point, so that this area can be freed of foreign bodies, in particular mortar residues.
