Definitions

  • the present invention relates to timepieces providing special aesthetic effects. It relates, more particularly, to a timepiece in which these special effects are obtained using the indicator members themselves.
  • Patent CH 354 031 describes a timepiece comprising, between the dial and the crystal, two transparent disks having zones with polarizing effect. One of the discs is fixed to the crystal, while the other is secured to the seconds shaft. The relative displacement of the polarizing zones gives rise to plays of shadow and light on the dial. A similar system with polarizing effect is described in patent CH-465,507 (& GB-1,119,637).
  • the watch described in patent CH 429 599 also includes two polarizing discs. One of them is placed on an image carried by the dial and the other is mounted on the seconds tree. When the latter is rotated, the image appears and then disappears.
  • the dial and a transparent disc mounted on the seconds shaft are provided with predetermined color and shape drawings which cooperate with each other to produce particular optical effects during the rotation of the disk. Constructions of the same type, producing similar optical effects, are described in particular in documents CH-84 141, CH-321 586, CH-321 954, US-372 074, US-1 183 479 and US-3 890 777.
  • documents FR-647 193 and FR-1,141,104 also know devices for indicating even and odd days.
  • the parity information is carried by a disc and appears through a window on the dial.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide a timepiece which, like the embodiments mentioned above, allows a determined image to appear periodically, but which differs from these achievements by the means used to form this image.
  • FIG. 1 shows a watch with analog display comprising, in a conventional manner, under its dial 10 a disc 12 and a ring 14 coplanar and concentric.
  • these two elements respectively constitute the disc allowing the display of the days of the week and the ring allowing the display of the date.
  • These two organs are driven by the movement of the watch and advance one step per day.
  • Their drive system is not shown in the figure since it is identical in all respects to that which allows, on a normal watch, to drive the calendar organs.
  • the disc 12 and the ring 14 complete a complete revolution respectively in seven and thirty-one days.
  • FIG. 2 in which the dial 10, the disc 12 and the ring 14 have been shown side by side respectively according to a first embodiment of the invention.
  • the dial 10 carries a decoration which is formed, in the simple example shown, of two perpendicular networks of equidistant parallel lines. Along the two perpendicular lines between them which share in two equal portions each of the sectors of the dial, eight squares of the frame, distributed in four symmetrical pairs, at the rate of two per sector, are replaced by transparent windows designated by the references a to h. The other tiles in these two lines are given a different color from the rest of the dial.
  • the disc 12 carries a decoration having a frame identical to that of the dial 10.
  • the tiles b ', c', f ', g' of this decoration which correspond in position to the windows b, c, f and g respectively of the dial are colored in the same way as the tiles of it.
  • the ring 14 carries a decoration having the same frame as the dial and the disc.
  • the tiles a ', d', e 'and h' of this decoration which correspond in position to the windows a, d, e and h respectively of the dial are colored in the same way as the tiles of the latter.
  • FIG. 1 is only one of the numerous examples making it possible to illustrate how, in the context of the present invention, a decoration can be reconstituted at regular intervals by patterns which are carried by the movable members 12 and 14 and the fixed dial 10.
  • the decorations can vary endlessly, as can the shape, position and number of windows on the dial. It is thus, for example, that one can be satisfied with a single window in which the two movable members periodically reconstruct an image. We can also consider leaving the dial without any decoration.
  • the dial could comprise only the eight windows a to h which would allow the colored squares carried by the two movable members to appear simultaneously, at regular intervals.
  • a single movable member can be used, for example the disc 12 alone, the ring 14 alone or a larger disc formed by the union of the disc 12 and the ring 14.
  • the windows of the dial can be tinted so as to reveal, during the coincidence, tiles whose tint results from the combination of the colors of these windows and of the two movable members.
  • the dial 10 carries a decoration and is pierced with a series of windows i, j, k and l, in areas which do not touch the decoration itself.
  • the disc 12 carries a decoration corresponding to the central part of the decoration of the dial, while the ring 14 carries a decoration corresponding to the part of the decoration of the dial which is not on the disk.
  • FIG. 3 can also be simplified by the use of a single mobile member which then makes it possible to obtain a clean decor, without parasitic image, every seven or thirty-one days.
