Abstract

In a method for round-cornering plane, rectangular, narrow panes (2) made of brittle material such as glass or glass ceramic, the panes are first of all moved on a wide conveying belt (1) by means of a slide (3) into a first position (A) offset to the outside relative to the centre line of the conveying belt and are then guided in a clamped manner. The external corners are then rounded (B) by means of a grinding wheel (6). After the clamping is removed, the panes are moved to the other side into an offset position (C) relative to the centre line of the conveying belt (1) and the two remaining corners are rounded (D) by means of a further grinding wheel (10). To support the panes, one narrow auxiliary conveying belt (5, 9) each is guided on each side of the conveying belt (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
