Description

The invention relates to coated, in particular PUR (polyurethane) coated, press belts, with a carrier fabric, consisting of a set of longitudinal threads and at least one set of transverse threads, for use in wide-nip presses.

Endless, preferably PUR-coated fabric tapes are used in wide-nip presses in the press section of modern paper machines. In these presses, the press nip is formed by a concave press shoe and a counter roll, the coated side of the fabric belt sliding on a lubricating film over the press shoe and the fabric side resting on a felt. This arrangement of press shoe, fabric tape, felt and roller creates an extended press zone through which the dryness of the paper web is increased considerably. This enables a corresponding increase in the production speed of the paper machine.

Since the press belts are subjected to high flexing stress and enormous pressures and there is friction between the fabric belt and the felt, particularly high demands are placed on the carrier fabric. In addition to great wear resistance, longitudinal stability and even pressure distribution, optimum resistance to flexing at high pressure is required. In addition, there must be the best possible positive connection between the PUR coating and the fabric.

The known carrier fabrics (DE-OS-3 231 039, DE-OS-3 235 468, DE-OS-3 224 760, DE-GM-8 319 694) meet the requirements regarding wear resistance, pressure distribution, longitudinal stability and resistance to flexing not fair. In EP-A-80 686 it has now been proposed for a double-layer fabric as a covering for paper machines for the production of marking-sensitive papers and for achieving good retention and a long running time, successive warp threads or warp threads separated by at most one intermediate warp thread on the paper side and / or to run the running side in parallel at least in places in pairs, however, by applying this proposal to carrier fabric for coated press belts for use in wide-nip presses, in particular the required high longitudinal stability and resistance of the fabric to flexing is not achieved.

The object of the invention is therefore to design the carrier fabric so that the extreme demands placed on such fabrics by the high pressures prevailing in the presses mentioned can be met.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that successive longitudinal or warp threads, at least on one side of the fabric, form cranks, so-called double cranks, lying next to one another and guided over the same transverse or weft threads, and in that part of the longitudinal threads consists of a material whose longitudinal stability is that of Keviar 0 or steel, while the other part is made of a material whose wear resistance corresponds to that of polyamide.

This structure of the carrier fabric ensures that the inward pressure of the double cranks is so large that even when using very thick transverse or weft threads, the longitudinal cranks are at least on one side of the fabric deeper than the transverse cranks, which means that they are not subject to wear . This effect is also achieved with very thin longitudinal threads with a high weave density. This results in a pronounced bending flexibility of the carrier tape in the running direction with good longitudinal stability. In addition, in the case of a thin chain, high weft thread densities and thus a high number of supporting points or number of weft cranks per unit area are achieved, which lead to an even pressure distribution on the carrier fabric.

It has proven particularly useful to choose the diameter of at least some of the transverse threads such that it is at least 25% larger than the diameter of the longitudinal threads, and to choose the diameter of at least some of the longitudinal threads at least 25% larger than the diameter of the other longitudinal threads .

A value of at least 40 / cm 2 has proven suitable for the number of wearable crankings on the fabric side facing the felt, but much higher values of up to about 160 / cm 2 have also proven particularly useful.

Further advantageous embodiments of the invention can be found in the subclaims.

The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of exemplary embodiments. The drawing shows:
  • 1 and 2 top views of single-layer carrier fabric according to the invention with regularly arranged crankings,
  • FIG. 3 shows a top view of a carrier fabric according to the invention with irregularly arranged crankings,
  • 4A and 4B are top views of the carrier fabric according to the invention with transverse threads forming two layers of opposite planes,
  • 5A and 5B are plan views of the carrier fabric according to the invention with longitudinal threads of different diameters.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, these offsets are arranged irregularly in order to avoid the formation of diagonals, which, in interaction with diagonals of the felt, which slides together with the carrier fabric over the press shoe of a wide-nip press, cause a strong lateral run of the PUR-coated tape can cause.

The inward pressure caused by the press shoe of the double cranks shown is so great that even when using very thick transverse threads 18, 19, 20, the longitudinal cranks come to lie at least on one side of the fabric deeper than the transverse cranks, so that they Wear are removed. This effect is also achieved with very thin longitudinal threads with a high weave density. This ensures a pronounced bending flexibility of the press belt in the running direction with good longitudinal stability.

Wenigstens ein Teil dieser Querfäden besteht aus einem hochverschleißfesten Material, beispielsweise einem Polyamid, während die anderen Längs- und Querfäden aus Polyester bestehen können.4A and 4B are the press felt (FIG. 4A) and the PUR-coated side facing the press shoe (FIG. 4B) of a press belt according to the invention, which has two layers of transverse threads 21, 22 contains that form opposite levels. The double cranks 14 are a layer of very thick transverse threads which form an upstream wear plane facing the felt of the press. At least some of these cross threads are made of a highly wear-resistant material, for example a polyamide, while the other longitudinal and cross threads can be made of polyester.

The diameter of at least some of the longitudinal threads 14 can be at least 25% larger than that of the other longitudinal threads, while the number of wearable crankings on the backing fabric side facing the felt can be more than 160 / cm 2 , but at least 40 / cm 2 . In this way, the diameter and number / cm 2 of the longitudinal threads can be determined so that there is sufficient longitudinal stability. The cross thread layer of the carrier fabric facing the press shoe and carrying the coating forms, together with the likewise thin longitudinal threads, a wide-meshed surface into which the coating material can easily penetrate, while the wear side facing the felt is very densely woven, so that the flow of the coating material during coating is stopped.

Since this causes the coating material to jam between the two transverse thread layers, there is an extraordinarily good interlocking connection between the carrier fabric and the coating.

Die anderen Längsfäden 17 bestehen aus hochverschleißfestem Material, wie beispielsweise Polyamid, wie auch die dem Filz zugewandten Querfäden 23 und haben einen ähnlichen Durchmesser wie diese.5A and 5B show a particularly longitudinally stable and at the same time wear-resistant embodiment of the carrier fabric according to the invention. Of the consecutive in the weft direction longitudinal yarns 17, 25, every second a relatively small diameter and consists of a longitudinally stable and extremely tear-resistant material, such as Kevlar @ or steel. The other longitudinal threads 17 consist of highly wear-resistant material, such as polyamide, as well as the transverse threads 23 facing the felt, and have a diameter similar to this.

Half of all longitudinal cranks on the wear side (Fig. 5A) thus represents an additional wear level.

The longitudinal cranks made of tear-resistant material are pulled deep into the carrier fabric due to the low elongation of such materials and are therefore not exposed to wear. This ensures a longitudinal stability of the coated strip that is independent of wear.

The cross threads 24 on the coating side can be multifilaments in order to additionally improve the connection between the fabric and the coating. Furthermore, it has proven useful to choose at least six for the number of longitudinal threads in the repeat.

Instead of the PUR coating of the press belts, which has been explained in the example above, any other suitable coating made of polymer material or rubber can also be used to create a carrier fabric of the type according to the invention.
