Abstract

A cashier's safe for banks is disclosed in which money cassettes in vertical columns are held in storage spaces on rotatable racks disposed on opposite sides of the vertical traveling path of a cassette carrier. Each cassette selectively can be brought up to a money receiving and withdrawal point at the top of the safe and returned to its proper storage space by the cassette carrier. Cassettes containing larger sums of money are moved more slowly to the withdrawal point than those containing lesser sums to reduce the probability of robbery. Storage units in the safe for bank notes include bank note storage belts wound on storage drums. The storage units are located on opposite sides of a vertical covered belt conveyor for bank notes which transfer them from the storage units to a bank note receiving and withdrawal point at the top of the safe. Bank note switches associated with the storage units are provided along the covered belt conveyor. The cashier's safe may be automated and a microprocessor may be employed to control the receiving or issuance of money in specified denominations and amounts.

Description

The invention relates to a cash vault, in particular for use at cash desks of financial institutions, for. B. banks. Such cash vaults (with mechanized receipt and dispensing of banknotes) not only automate the activity of the cashier, they also make it possible to monitor and register the transactions. In addition, the likelihood and amount of damage of robberies are reduced because the individually entered banknotes can only be issued individually, so that the amount that the perpetrator can get during the time in which he can still count on the possibility of escape is limited , the perpetrator knows that this is due to technical reasons, and neither he nor the cashier he threatens can change anything, so that he will consider whether a robbery is worthwhile under these circumstances.

In order to meet the requirements of practice, such a cash vault should hold an amount of money that is subdivided into numerous monetary values and currencies and is so large that it is sufficient even with larger withdrawals of cash, and the capacity should not be exceeded with larger withdrawals of money. A "refilling" or partial "emptying" of the cash safe is undesirable during the cash hours, because of the inevitable waiting time of the customer and not least because then a larger amount of money is temporarily available as a whole, with a risk of robbery. Despite the large capacity, the cash register safe should not take up much space and should be structurally simple.

By the invention, as characterized in claim 1, the object is achieved to provide a cash vault, in which the likelihood and risk of robberies is reduced, which can hold a larger amount of money divided into banknotes of numerous values and currencies, one in Relative to its capacity has a small footprint and is structurally simple. Particular embodiments of this invention are specified in the dependent claims.

The advantages achieved by the invention are essentially to be seen in the fact that the space required by the banknote storage according to the invention is not much, namely only by the space occupied by the shroud conveyor, greater than the total volume of the storage units. This ensures the greatest possible ratio of storage capacity to space requirements. The storage units can be arranged on both sides of the shroud conveyor, which leads to a compact arrangement. The shroud conveyor can also run vertically, with the banknote storage z. B. expediently can be carried out as a body with two rows of storage units each arranged on one side of the shroud conveyor. The banknote conveyor is structurally simple, the swiveling guide members of the banknote switches have a low mass inertia and can therefore be moved quickly enough without complex design means so that banknotes can be quickly distributed to different storage units and banknotes stored in different storage units can be quickly dispensed.

A vending machine with banknote storage units is known, in which two storage tapes between which the banknotes are received, each of a supply roll, are guided individually around one of the rolls of a pair of rolls, placed one on top of the other in the roll gap, guided one above the other to a storage drum and wound thereon (FR-A-1 359 115). In this case, a reversible belt conveyor runs at right angles to a sliding path on which the storage units which are firmly connected to one another can be moved into positions in which a storage unit can take banknotes to be stored from the belt conveyor or stored banknotes can be transferred to it. The bank conveyor has two conveyor belts running one above the other, each of which runs at the end of the bank conveyor facing the sliding path around a roller of a pair of rollers which is directly adjacent to the pair of rollers of the relevant storage unit when the banknotes are transferred or received. The lower conveyor belt runs horizontally. The upper conveyor belt is pivotable about the axis of the upper roller of the pair of rollers of the belt conveyor for transferring banknotes to be stored to the relevant storage unit in an inclined position and for transferring stored banknotes from the relevant storage unit into a horizontal position in which the conveying strands of both belts run against one another . A banknote to be stored is pushed onto a plate and together with the plate between the two conveyor belts above the conveyor belt of the lower belt, at its end facing the sliding track is stripped from the plate of the conveyor belt of the upper belt approaching the conveyor belt of the lower belt, taken between the two conveyor strands to the pair of rollers of the conveyor belts and taken over by the adjacent pair of rollers of the storage unit concerned. A banknote to be issued is transferred from the pair of rollers of the relevant storage unit to the pair of rollers of the conveyor belts, taken along between their conveying strands and then falls into a banknote return container.

This known arrangement of the storage units and the conveyor belts is structurally complex, it takes up a comparatively very large space because the belt conveyor runs transversely to the transfer path, and this takes up a space which corresponds to almost twice the total volume of the storage units. This is particularly disadvantageous if the banknotes have more than one, in particular a number rich memory associated with different values and / or currencies should be distributed. In addition, the shifting drive must be precise in order to ensure reliable banknote transfer and acceptance from the relevant storage unit, and it should work quickly so that as little time as possible is lost by moving the storage units when distributing banknotes of different values to the storage units assigned to them or be removed from them. Given the comparatively large inertia of the storage units which are firmly connected to one another, these requirements can be met less, the greater the number thereof.

The cash vault according to the invention is, as mentioned, expediently designed in the form of a body, the shroud conveyor running vertically and the banknote entry and withdrawal point being at the top. The body has a relatively small footprint and corresponding table surface, which occupies only part of the work area available to the cashier to the side of the cash desk. It is therefore expedient to arrange a cassette store in the cash box safe next to the banknote store, in which storage spaces for coins, documents that cannot be wound up in the banknote store and also banknotes are arranged on one or both sides of a vertical movement path for a cassette holder, which is attached to a top by means of a drive device the banknote entry and exit point arranged money entry and exit point and is displaceable in positions in which it is next to one of the storage spaces, so that a cassette carried by it is pushed onto the storage space or vice versa from the storage space onto the cassette holder by means of a displacement device can.

The cassette storage has a larger storage capacity than the banknote storage for a given volume. It is therefore, apart from the possibility of storing coins and other documents that cannot be rolled up in the banknote store, as a practically very useful addition to the banknote store in order to take banknotes from the banknote store if it becomes overfilled and to deliver it to the banknote store if its banknote stock becomes too small . It is crucial for the risk of robbery that with this type of (partial) emptying and refilling of the banknote store, a larger amount of money than a whole is never available, but only smaller amounts could be obtained one after the other through violence or threat. The speed of the shroud conveyor and / or the drive device for the cassette holder for entering banknotes or money can be greater and smaller for withdrawing and, especially if the cash safe is controlled by a microprocessor, can be slower for taking larger values than for taking smaller values. to reduce the likelihood and harm of robberies. Since the number of cassettes will generally be greater than that of the storage units, currencies which are less common and for which the use of a storage unit is not worthwhile will also be stored in the cassette memory.

Further advantages result below in connection with the description of an exemplary embodiment of the cash vault.

In the figures, a particularly for use at cash desks of financial institutions, for. B. banks, certain cash vault shown, in which banknotes and / or coins in numerous cassettes 1 of a cassette memory 2 and banknotes 3 are to be kept in six storage units 4 of a banknote memory 5. The cassettes 1 are made accessible at a cash entry and withdrawal point 6. A banknote entry and withdrawal point 7 is assigned to the banknote store 5.

A storage location 9 is provided in the cassette memory 2 (FIGS. 1, 2 and 3) for each cassette 1. The storage locations 9 are formed in two frames 10. In each rack 10, the storage spaces 9 are arranged one above the other in two rows 11 and 12 arranged next to one another, each of which is accessible on one of two opposing rack sides 13 and 14 for pushing the cassettes 1 into and out of the rack 10. The racks 10 are arranged on both sides of the vertical movement path 16 of a cassette carrier 17 (FIG. 3) such that one of the accessible sides 13 and 14 of a rack 10 is opposite one of the accessible sides of the other rack 10. Each frame 10 can be rotated through 180 ° about a central, vertical axis 19, so that each of the accessible sides 13 and 14 of each frame 10 can be rotated on the movement path 16 of the cassette carrier 17.

The cassette holder 17 is connected to two vertical guides 21 (FIGS. 2 and 3) by means of a drive device (not shown) in the upper position shown in FIG. 3, in which a cassette 1a carried by it on the money input and - is removal point 6, and displaceable (not shown) in which it is next to one of the storage locations 9 accessible next to its path of movement 16. By means of a cassette shifting device (not shown) provided on the cassette carrier 17, a cassette 1 can be pulled onto it from its storage location 9, next to which the cassette carrier 17 is pushed, or a cassette 1 carried by it can be pushed onto its storage location 9. In order to pull a cassette 1 from its storage space 9 onto the cassette carrier 17, the cassette displacement device can be equipped with an electromagnet which, in the excited state, acts on a magnetic armature attached to the cassette or directly on the cassette 1 made of sheet iron in order to put it on the To pull cassette holder 17. The cassettes 1 have different capacities due to different heights with the same base area. The speed of the cassette carrier 17 can be controlled in such a way that cassettes 1 with a higher value content are conveyed more slowly.

The cash entry and withdrawal point 6 arranged on top of the cash vault is separated from the space (movement path 16) in which the cassette carrier 17 can be displaced by a wall 23 which is provided with an opening 24. In its position shown in FIG. 3, the cassette carrier 17 closes the opening 24. In order to keep the opening 24 closed and to prevent access to the uppermost cassettes, if the cassette carrier 17 is further below the wall 23, a (not shown) Slider can be provided which closes the opening 24 as long as the cassette carrier 17 is below the wall 23. At the cash entry and withdrawal point 6, a device (not shown) can be provided which automatically opens the respectively arrived cassette and closes again automatically before the downward movement of the cassette carrier 17.

In order to make good use of the space inside the cash vault for the cassette storage 2, each of the frames 10 is arranged close to the front or rear wall 26 of the cash vault adjacent to it (FIG. 2). The circumference 27 of the frame floor plan projects beyond the wall 26. The rotatability of the frames 10 about their axis 19 is ensured in that each of these axes 19 can be moved away from the wall 26 into a position in which the circumference (27 a) of the frame floor plan is tight runs on the inside of the wall 26. For this purpose, the upper and lower ends of each axis 19 can be mounted on one of two crank arms (not shown) which can be rotated about a common axis. So that the cassette carrier 17 is not in the way of a rotation of the frames 10, it is raised higher than the frames 10 (FIG. 3) or lowered lower than the frames 10. In order to enable the rack rotation in a central position of the cassette carrier 17, the frames 10 could be provided with a recess into which the cassette carrier 17 projects in this position during the rack rotation.

34 laufen. In the banknote store 5 (FIGS. 1, 2 and 4) three of the six storage units 4 are arranged one above the other on each of the two sides of the vertical conveyor path of a banknote conveyor (30, 31) (FIG. 4). At the upper end of the banknote conveyor, the banknote entry and withdrawal point 7 is provided. The banknote conveyor is a shroud conveyor, between the conveyor belts 30 and 31 which run together, the banknotes are held non-positively and are thereby taken along. Each of these conveyor belts 30 and 31 is divided into two belts running side by side (FIG. 1), which run around correspondingly divided deflection rollers 33 and 34, respectively.

Jedes so unterteilte Speicherband 36 bzw. Each storage unit 4 works with two storage belts 36 and 37 (FIG. 4), each of which, like the conveyor belts 30 and 31, is divided into two belts running side by side. Each storage tape 36 or 37 divided in this way is fastened at one end to a flanged supply roll 38 or 39 and, depending on the operating state, is wound more or less onto it. The storage belt 37 is guided over a deflection roller 41 and around a roller 44 of a pair of rollers 43, 44 in its roller gap. The other storage belt 36 is also guided around the other roller 43 into the nip. In the nip, the two storage belts 36 and 37 run against one another, and then, like the two belts 30 and 31 of the shroud conveyor, they run together to a storage drum 46, to which they are jointly fastened and to which they jointly, depending on the operating state of the storage unit 4, are more or less wound up. For storage, the storage drum 46 is driven in the winding direction. In this case, banknotes introduced into the nip are held in a force-fitting manner between the mutually running storage belts 36 and 37 which leave the nip, are taken along and are wound together with them onto the winding drum 46 (banknotes 3 in FIGS. 1 and 2). To release stored banknotes 3, the supply rolls 38 and 39 are driven in the winding direction, the storage tapes 36 and 37 being unwound together with the banknotes from the storage drum 46, running to the nip of the pair of rollers 43, 44, and the banknotes being conveyed out of the nip . When storing the supply rolls 38 and 39, when storing banknotes, the storage drum 46 is braked. Both can be achieved simply by providing an electric motor for driving each supply roll 38, 39 and a further electric motor to drive the storage drum 46, and these motors are each weakly excited to produce the braking effect. The motors (not shown) are expediently external rotor motors.

Fig. 6. 31 a, 31 b in nebeneinander laufende Bänder entsprechende Unterteilung gebildet ist. Each of the conveyor belts 30, 31 of the deck belt conveyor has consecutive in the conveying direction, each deflected by two deflecting belt sections, z. B. 30a, 31 and 31 b. In each case, in addition to a roller 43 of the pair of rollers of a storage unit 4, a deflecting roller 34a of a belt section 31a and next to the other roller 44 a deflecting roller 34b of the belt section 31b directly adjoining this belt section 31a of the conveyor belt 30 and 31 running together, e.g. B. the conveyor belt 30 of the shroud conveyor, which is adjacent to the relevant storage unit 4 (Fig. 4). A switch is assigned to each storage unit 4, cf. Fig. 6. In a first switch position shown in broken lines, banknotes conveyed between the belt sections 30a and 31 are routed to the immediately adjoining conveyor section formed by the belt sections 30a and 31b or vice versa. In a second switch position shown in solid lines, banknotes held and conveyed between the belt sections 30a and 31 are guided into the nip of the pair of rollers 43, 44 or vice versa from the nip between the belt sections 30a and 31a. The switch has jointly pivotable guide members, which are designed in triplicate and arranged such that two ends of the banknotes projecting laterally at the ends of the band sections 30a, 31a and 31b, and the third the banknotes in the middle by dividing these bands lead formed band gap. The guide surface of a first guide member 51 leads in the first switch position in the plane of the (conveyor dreams of) the belt sections 31a and 31b, in the second switch position it cuts this plane at a distance from the deflection roller 34a, part of the triple guide member 51 in one The circumferential groove of the deflecting roller 34b engages the subdivision corresponding to the subdivision of the conveyor belts 30, 31 or 31 a, 31 b into belts running side by side. In the second switch position, a second guide member 52 and a first section of a third guide member 53 parallel to this form a guide which guides the banknotes from the space between the deflecting rollers 34a and 34b into the nip of the pair of rollers 43, 44 or vice versa, a second part of the third guide member 53, which is curved with a radius slightly exceeding the radius of the deflection roller 34a, in this position extends coaxially to the deflection roller 34a and guides the banknotes around this deflection roller 34a. The first guide member 51 connects to the free end of the second part of the third guide member 53, it is expediently formed in one piece with the latter. The second and third guide members 52 and 53 are pivotally mounted near the nip of the pair of rollers 43, 44 and, in the first switch position, partially engage in a circumferential groove of the deflection roller 34a, which is formed by the division thereof, that of the division of the belts 30, 30a , 31, 31 a, 31b corresponds to bands running side by side. The guide surfaces of the guide members 51, 52 and 53 are made as smooth as possible and the axial distance of the roller 43 from the deflecting roller 34a or 44 of 34b and also the mutual axial distance of the deflecting rollers 34a and 34b is so much smaller than the dimension of the bank notes in the conveying direction of the smallest format to be saved, so that its promotion in the area of the switch is ensured. For this purpose, the bank notes in the guide area of the switch must always be held reliably either non-positively (with static friction) between the belt sections 30a and 34a or (in the first switch position) between the belt sections 30a and 34b or (in the second switch position) between the storage belts 36 and 37 be.

The storage units 4 of the same size can also be of different sizes for the purpose of different capacities. The running speed of the tapes 30, 30a, 31, 31a, 31 is greater in the direction leading away from the banknote entry and withdrawal point 7 or leading to the storage drum 46 than in the opposite direction.

At the banknote entry and withdrawal point 7, banknotes entered as a bundle 55 (FIG. 4) are pressed by a tappet 56 onto a conveyor roller 57, from which it is conveyed to a singling device 58, 59, which is followed by a thickness control device 60, 61 which the individual banknotes reach the shroud conveyor 30, 31. The separating device consists of a fixed roller 58, for. B. from ceramic, and a driven transport wheel 59. The roller 58 is rotated slightly from time to time so that a new lateral surface part comes in the place of a worn one. The thickness control device has two driven metal rollers 60, 61 which touch one another outside of a roller gap. The length of the nip is somewhat larger than the dimension of the banknotes transverse to their conveying direction, and the gap width is adapted to the banknote thickness. The rollers 60 and 61 are lifted somewhat apart from one another by means of a banknote of greater thickness. This will break a control circuit. In order to distinguish banknotes of different thicknesses from one another, a plurality of such roller pairs 60, 61 can be used. In addition, light barriers (not shown) can be provided for counting and differentiating banknotes of different formats.

The banknote switches 51, 52, 53 can be controlled by a banknote entry and withdrawal point 7 equipped in such a way that input banknotes are automatically distributed to storage units 4 assigned to specific amounts and currencies.

The cash vault works expediently with a computer, in particular with a microprocessor assigned to it, which automatically saves and dispenses Controls banknotes and stores them together with the money entry and withdrawal processes to be entered at a terminal (each with a cassette name), so that the stock of each banknote storage unit 4 and each cassette 1 can be queried. In this case, a signal device can be provided which indicates that a certain minimum stock is undershot and the "overflow" of a storage unit 4 is imminent. The microprocessor can be set up in such a way that - when the currency, the amount to be input or output and the denomination are entered at the terminal - it itself searches for the suitable storage units 4 and controls their switches and, if necessary, controls the cassette carrier drive in order to actuate the suitable cassette to bring the money entry and withdrawal point 6.

The cash register can be set up between two cash desks and used by the two employees of these two cash desks. A terminal is provided for each, with which only memory units and memory locations assigned to it can be controlled. In the case of the cash register safe shown as an exemplary embodiment, for example, the storage units on one side of the shroud conveyor 30, 31 and the storage spaces 9 of one of the two frames 10 could be one and the storage units on the other side of the shroud conveyor 30, 31 and the storage spaces 9 of the other frame could be the other Cash registers can be assigned. Any other assignment can be made by the microprocessor program. Assignments can be selected or changed as required.

Of course, securities as well as banknotes can be stored in the cassette store and in the banknote store.
