Description

The invention relates to a chair according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a chair is known from US-A-2 321 385, in which the seat support and the backrest support part are each connected to one another in their lower region about a pivot axis. In its rear area, the seat is connected to the backrest support part via an articulated bracket with two mutually parallel pivot axes. The energy accumulator is designed as a prestressable compression spring which is arranged outside and below the seat support. It is penetrated by a clamping bolt which is articulated on the backrest support part. At the other end of this clamping bolt, a clamping screw is arranged, against which the helical compression spring is supported on the one hand, while it is supported with its other end from the outside against the seat support. This energy accumulator is arranged above the swivel axis. Due to the lower arrangement of the swivel axis, the attachment point of the seat on the backrest support part performs large horizontal movements relative to the front articulation of the seat on the seat support during swiveling movements of the backrest support part, so that an articulated bracket must be provided to compensate for these longitudinal movements. At the same time, this link plate leads again to the fact that with stronger pivoting movements of the backrest support part with the backrest, the seat performs an increased superimposed double relative movement to the backrest, in which the distance to the backrest is first reduced and then enlarged again. When the backrest is pivoted backwards from its steepest position, the seat is first raised relative to the backrest support and then pulled down relative to this. The so-called shirt pull-out effect is particularly pronounced here. In addition, the overall height and depth are particularly pronounced.

From DE-A-31 39 448 a chair is known in which a seat support is rigidly connected to a support column. A backrest support part is attached to the seat support and can be pivoted about a pivot axis. A gas spring is arranged as an energy store between the seat support and the backrest support part. A seat is fastened in the front area of the seat support and in the rear area of the backrest support part by means of rubber blocks. This unit is not compact. Here too, the so-called shirt pull-out effect cannot be avoided without further ado.

The chairs described above have a mechanism which ensures that when the user shifts weight, e.g. when the user leans back, an anatomically adapted inclination adjustment of the seat surface and backrest inclination is coordinated with one another. Mechanics of this type are therefore also referred to as synchronous mechanisms.

Further, for example from DE-A-27 57 349, DE-C-27 33 322 and DE-C-28 36 216 known, provided with such a synchronous mechanism also have the disadvantage that due to the relative movement in the inclination adjustment between the seat and the backrest on the clothing of the user in the area of the backrest, a pull that is perceived as disturbing is exercised. This results, among other things, from the fact that in the known construction an adjusting device is pivotally mounted about a horizontal axis on the support column of the base frame, the pivoting movement of the seat and the backrest being coordinated via a triangular link. The rear end of the seat is connected to the lower end of the backrest support column via an articulated lever, this articulation point of the articulated lever being connected to the lower articulated point of the triangular link via a gas spring. This means that the backrest support column is ultimately pivotally connected to it via a parallelogram joint formed by the triangular link, the articulated lever, the gas spring and a section of the seat. Another parallelogram joint is formed between the triangular link and an articulated lever which engages with one end in the region of the front edge of the seat and the other end is connected to a further gas spring. In addition to the inherent disadvantage of a pushing or pulling effect on the clothing of the user, the known embodiment has the further disadvantage that two independent springs must be provided to achieve a damping effect of the inclination adjustment movement on the one hand and to achieve a sufficiently high restoring torque on the other, which makes the construction relatively complex and increases the manufacturing costs.

The invention has for its object to design a chair of the generic type so that a well-coordinated, perceived by the user as a pleasant synchronous movement between the backrest and seat is achieved with a shift in weight of the user, with a reliable and inexpensive construction is aimed.

This object is achieved by the features of the characterizing part of claim 1. By assigning the individual components to each other according to the invention it is achieved that the clothing of the user is not subjected to unwanted thrust or tensile forces when leaning back, since the movement of the backrest down does not remain behind the downward movement of the seat end, but on the contrary, the distance between the upper edge of the seat and the lower edge of the backrest even decreases. Furthermore, it is possible according to the invention to make do with only a single gas spring, which both dampens the inclination movement and the necessary restoring moments for resetting the back kennehne applies when the user shifts the weight forward again. The elastic buffers provided according to the invention, for example made of rubber or the like, act on the one hand as a cushioning spacer between the rear section of the seat and the backrest support part and, on the other hand, allow a complicated relative movement between the seat and the backrest part, which impresses them when the user leans back due to the construction according to the invention is, both the distance between the seat and backrest support part changes and a translational movement of the parts takes place approximately parallel to each other. The arrangement of the gas spring ensures that this gas spring has a particularly favorable effect both for damping the tilting movements and for the return movements. It can therefore be of relatively small dimensions and therefore be arranged in a space-saving and largely invisible manner within the backrest support part or within the seat support.

The pivot axis is preferably arranged between the backrest support part and the seat carrier in accordance with claim 2, the movement sequence being able to be influenced by the exact position of the pivot axis.

A particularly advantageous dimensioning for the position of the axes relative to one another or the arrangement of the gas spring relative to the seat are given in claims 3 and 4, respectively.

By designing the seat support and backrest support part according to claim 5, bearings for the required swivel axes are created in a simple manner, the functional interlocking of these parts is possible without problems, high static stability is achieved and, ultimately, this construction also satisfactorily takes aesthetic requirements into account. The pivot axes are formed in a particularly simple manner in accordance with patent claim 6.

It is known per se to assign a locking device to gas springs used in office chairs. The locking device provided according to patent claim 7 can, however, be configured in a particularly simple and effective manner in an arrangement of the gas spring according to the invention, in particular also as an inexpensive, purely mechanical locking according to patent claim 8.

As is not shown in detail, the seat 3 is articulated on the one hand to the seat support 4 at its front end and on the other hand to the backrest support part 7. The articulated connection between the seat support 4 and the backrest support part 7 is produced by a pivot pin 10 which passes through the side walls 11, 12 or 13, 14 of the backrest support part 7 or the seat support 4. The backrest support part 7 and the seat support 4 are each U-shaped in cross-section, the U-bottoms 15, 16 pointing towards the top, that is to say towards the seat, and the side walls 11, 12 of the backrest support part 7, the side walls 13, 14 of the seat support 4 partially overlap.

At the front end of the seat support 4, a seat bracket 19 is pivotally mounted by means of a pivot pin 17, which defines a pivot axis 18. This essentially comprises an L-profile 20 with a bearing box 21 receiving the pivot pin 17 and spacers 22 to which the seat 3 is rigidly attached.

A cone 23 for receiving the support column 2 is rigidly fastened to the seat support 4, an actuating lever 25 for adjusting the seat height being provided by a recess 24 in this area by means of a corresponding device, not shown in detail.

The backrest support part 7 tapers starting from a kink edge 26 to the rear, where a guide part 27 for the backrest support column 9 is welded on. A clamping screw 28 with actuating lever 29 engages in a bore 30 of the guide part 27, as a result of which the legs of the guide part 27, which is U-shaped in cross section, can be clamped to fix the backrest support column. On the one hand, two rubber buffers 32 are attached to the U-bottom 15 of the backrest support part 7 and, on the other hand, to the rigid seat plate 31 of the seat 3.

A gas spring 3 is articulated on the one hand on a bolt 34 forming a pivot axis, which penetrates holes 35 in the side walls 11, 12 of the backrest support part 7 and, on the other hand, on a bolt 36 forming a further pivot axis, which penetrates a bore 37 in the side walls 13, 14.

The side wall 11 of the backrest support part 7 has a slot 39 running in the form of a circular section, through which an actuating lever 40 for a locking device 38 engages.

If the seat 3 is loaded in the direction of arrow 41 or the backrest 8 in the direction of arrow 42 when a user shifts weight to the rear, the backrest support part 7 is pivoted about the pivot axis 6 against the spring force of the gas spring 33 until an equilibrium is reached weighted state pivoted by an angle a which, because of the greater distance between the seat 3 and the backrest support part 7, connects the rubber buffer 32 from the seat pivot axis 18 than from the backrest support part pivot axis 6 is greater than the angle β. At the same time, the seat bracket 19 connected to the seat 3 is pivoted about the seat pivot axis 18 by the angle β.

As a result, the backrest 8 and the seat 3 move from the position shown in solid line in FIG. 2 to the position shown in broken lines in FIG. 2. During this pivoting movement, the distance a between the lower edge 43 of the backrest 8 and the upper edge 44 of the upholstery 45 of the seat 3 changes such that the corresponding new distance a 'is smaller than the original distance, i.e. in contrast to previously known constructions, there is no increase in the original distance a and, accordingly, no pulling action on the clothing of the user.

When the user shifts his weight forward again, this is usually not sufficient to ensure that the backrest 8 remains reliably in contact with the user's back at all times. This backward movement of the backrest 8 is in turn ensured in this phase by the gas spring 33, which has such points of attack on the backrest support part 7 on the one hand and on the seat support 4 on the other hand, that without the aid of further springs a reliable return is ensured even from a strongly pivoted back position of the backrest 8 .

The above-mentioned advantages that can basically be achieved by the configuration according to the invention are optimized by the dimensioning described below:
  • The pivot axis 6 is arranged approximately in the middle between the seat pivot axis 18 and the articulation axis 34, which is formed by the bolt 35.

The distance of the lower pivot axis (pivot pin 36) of the gas spring 33 from the pivot axis 6 is approximately half as large as the distance of the pivot axis 6 from the seat pivot axis 18.

The angle y between the longitudinal axis of the gas spring 33 and the U-bottom 15 of the backrest support part 7 is approximately 30 °.

The distance between the rubber buffers 32 and the seat pivot axis 18 is approximately 2 1/2 times the distance from the pivot axis 6.

The locking device 38 can be designed particularly simply within the framework of the construction according to the invention, in that it comprises a sleeve part 46 and a piston part 47, the piston part being mounted in the sleeve part so as to be longitudinally displaceable. This arrangement is arranged parallel to the gas spring 33, i.e. the sleeve part 46 is pivotally mounted on the bolt 34 and the piston part 47 on the bolt 36. The confirmation lever 40 has at its free end a threaded bolt 48 which passes through a threaded sleeve 49 which is connected to the side wall 13 of the seat support 4. By tightening the actuating lever 40, the front end of the threaded bolt 48 presses against the telescoped piston or sleeve parts 46 and 47 and flatly braces them against one another. Despite easy handling, a high surface pressure and thus a reliable locking is achieved so that the pivotability of seat 4 and backrest 8 can be blocked if desired.
