Claims (8)

1. A respiratory protection device as an escape apparatus with reciprocating respiration, comprising a chemical cartridge (1) generating oxygen, a respirator bag (6) connected to the chemical cartridge (1), the chemical cartridge being secured with its inlet opening on the top end face of the respirator bag, and a respirator hose (7) with a mouthpiece (8), characterised in that
a) the chemical cartridge (1) is situated inside the respirator bag (6) and wholly encased thereby, in such a way that the outer surface (A) of the chemical cartridge is surrounded on all sides by a free space within the respirator bag when the apparatus is in use, and
b) the chemical cartridge (1) is received in the manner of a sheath by a thermally insulating sleeve (5) which is installed in the respirator bag at the top end face (6a) as an integral component of the respirator bag (6) and protrudes with one flange portion (5a) out of the respirator bag as well as having another flange portion (5b) arranged within the respirator bag, and connected to the latter.
2. Respiratory protection device according to claim 1, characterised in that the sleeve (5) is formed by an elastic material which corresponds to that of the respirator bag (6).
3. Respiratory protection device according to claim 1, characterised in that the sleeve (5) has on its inner periphery a number of spacers (5c) which are in contact with the outer surface area of the chemical cartridge (1) and form an interstice (A) between the chemical cartridge (1) and the sleeve (5).
4. Respiratory protection device according to claims 1 and 3, characterised in that the chemical cartridge (1) inserted into the sleeve (5) from above does not form a fixed connection with the respirator bag (6).
5. Respiratory protection device according to claim 1, characterised in that a heat exchanger (2) is arranged above the chemical cartridge (1) in such a way that it does not establish any thermal contact with the chemical cartridge (1).
6. Respiratory protection device according to claims 1 and 2, characterised in that the heat exchanger (2) is enclosed by a housing (3) which is borne via thermally insulating spacers (4) on the top side of the chemical cartridge (1) and that the housing (3) forms the top closure of the sleeve (5).
7. Respiratory protection device according to claims 1, 5 and 6, characterised in that the housing (3) of the heat exchanger (2) is inserted into the elastic flange portion (5a) and is firmly connected to the respirator bag (6) by means of a clip (9).
8. Respiratory protection device according to claim 1, characterised in that control valves (13) are installed in the housing (3) below the heat exchanger (2), that the housing (3) is insertibly connected to the chemical cartridge (1) and that the sleeve (5) has outlet slots (5f) below the control valves (13), so that the respiratory protection device may be operated with circulating respiration (Fig. 2).
