A locking device (1) having at least one bolt (3) or the like and further having a dogging device (4) for said bolt, said dogging device being adapted to be opened and closed by means of an auxiliary force, preferably by electromagnet (5), characterized in that the bolt (3) has a bearing (6) permitting two different bolt motions, when the dogging device (4) is opened the one bolt motion leading to an open position of the bolt (3) and when the dogging device (4) is closed and when there is a greater load - as against the force necessary for the opening motion - the other bolt motion leading to a blocking position of the bolt (3), and that a support (7) is provided for the bolt (3) in the blocking position thereof, when an unintentional or unauthorized attempt at opening is made said support (7) assuming forces occur- ing at the bolt (3) so that these forces are kept away from the dogging device (4).

The locking device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that in the swivel path of the bolt (3) there is disposed a sliding block (8) or similar slide by which the swivel motion of the bolt (3) into the open position of the latter is converted into a linear motion towards the dogging device (4).
6. The locking device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the dogging device (4) takes the form of an elbow lever which bends when the dogging device (4) is released and is straight in the closed position.
7. The locking device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the bearing (12) which belongs to the one arm (13) of the elbow lever and is averted from the bearing (11) of the elbow lever is disposed on the sliding block (8) displaceable through the swivel motion of the bolt.

18. The locking device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 17, characterized in that an electronic clockwork is provided for actuating the dogging device (4) by means of an electromagnet (5) generating the auxiliary force.

The locking device as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that on the front of the free, swivelling end of the bolt (3) there is a recess (28), in particular a slanting one, when the bolt (3) is in the swivelled location in its open position said recess forming a continuation of the passage (26) receiving the locking bar (25) of a safe door or the like.

The locking device as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 20, in particular for use in a time lock, wherein the bolt (3) in the stop position prevents a locking bar (25) from entering and gives way to the locking bar when the dogging device (4) is released, characterized in that the pin (22) is centrally disposed in the oblong hole (21) of the bolt (3) and is supported on both sides against compression springs (23) and that the bolt (3) is adapted to be swivelled from a central stop position towards either side into open positions or to be slid to both sides into blocking positions and on either side of a central, displaceable sliding block (8) or similar slide has supports (7) for the blocking positions.
