Description

The invention relates to a floor covering according to the preamble of claim 1 and a method for producing the same.

Such floor coverings can be glued to a base with suitable adhesives, thereby preventing the floor covering from slipping even when it is used in the work or sports area. If such a glued-on floor covering provided with a foam back is to be removed from the substrate again, the foam back splits, which is not only disadvantageous for the further use of the floor covering, but also requires the foam residues to be removed from the substrate (textile international practice 1981, December, pages 1321 - 1324).

From DE-U-7.904.078 a generic floor covering is now known which has an upper-side wear layer, e.g. B. from a pile, a "woven, knitted fabric or the like, and has a soft foam backing on the underside. On the underside of the foam there is glued a network or the like impregnated or coated with a permanently elastic adhesive, the free underside of which is peeled off by means of a removable plastic film This network can be formed from a plastic film coated on both sides with a permanently elastic adhesive, which is interrupted in itself. If the closed, plastic film on the underside is removed from the adhesive surface of the network, the floor covering can be glued to the substrate However, it can also be used in such a way that the plastic film covering the adhesive remains on the floor covering and the latter is not bonded to the substrate. Depending on the type of this substrate, the non-bonded carpet can be compared to the substrate Slightly slip, as the closed covering plastic film must be adhesive to the adhesive and therefore on a smooth surface, e.g. PVC that can slide.

If such a known floor covering is glued to a surface by means of the adhesive contained in the network after the covering plastic film has been peeled off, and if such a floor covering is to be removed again, it may happen, depending on the surface, that the adhesive-impregnated network adheres to the surface on the one hand and on the other hand also adheres to the foam backing, which also causes the foam backing to split here.

Based on the consideration that nowadays the gluing of floor coverings to a substrate can be carried out even by do-it-yourselfers by means of an adhesive applied to the substrate, the object of the invention is to create a generic floor covering which can also be used if it is by means of a separate one Adhesive is connected to a surface, can be removed from this surface without destroying the flooring and without leaving foam residues. In addition, this floor covering should also have its own liability determined by the foam backing in relation to certain substrate materials.

This object is solved by the subject matter of claim 1. According to the invention, the plastic film used is a film which is provided with regularly distributed slots, is adhesive at the softening temperature and shrinks to form openings from the slots. Such a shrinkable slit film is heated to its softening temperature and brought into contact with the free back of the foam back of the floor covering at the latest when the softening temperature is reached.

When shrinking, openings form from the slots. Since this film is adhesive at its softening temperature, it can be inextricably bonded to the particularly smooth foam back during or immediately after the shrinking process. The shrunk film forms a network, the foam back of the floor covering not being covered by the film between the webs of the network. If such a floor covering is placed on a surface. the foam back lies partly directly on the surface, which means that it can adhere to the surface, and partly between the foam back - in the area of the webs of the network - and the The plastic film is arranged underground. Compared to the floor covering according to DE-U-7.90-4.078, the floor covering according to the invention therefore does not have an adhesive between the network and the backrest, nor on the free side of the network.

Such a floor covering can now also be arranged between the surface and the floor covering, e.g. spreadable adhesive can be connected to the substrate.

If the plastic film forming the network is produced on a plastic that is adhesive with respect to the adhesive, the floor covering is only bonded in the area of the openings of the network, while in the area of the webs of the network the floor covering is not bonded to the substrate. If such a type of glued floor covering is now to be removed from the subsurface, the floor covering can be removed from the subsurface together with the plastic film adhering to the foam back, since the network itself is only glued to the back of the foam to which it is also removed when the floor covering is removed remains.

Since the foam back is only glued to the surface in a punctiform manner through the openings in the network of the plastic film, the foam back is only damaged in the area of these punctiform glue points when the floor covering is removed from the ground. While even with flooring that is not glued to a surface and has a foam backing that does not have a network described at the bottom, the foam backing is largely destroyed when the flooring is removed, if it only adheres to the surface in a punctiform manner and the foam backing in accordance with the DE-U-7.904.078 is completely destroyed if the adhesion of the network to the substrate is too great, the floor covering according to the invention can be removed without substantial damage to the foam backing even if a particularly firm bond between the foam backing and the substrate has occurred is because a part of the foam back can only be separated in a punctiform manner, namely only in the openings of the film.

  • Figure 7 shows a floor covering according to the invention in section.
  • FIG. 1 shows an adhesive film 2 provided with slots 1, individual, straight slots 1 being arranged in rows in such a way that the slots overlap from row to row. With this slitting, the spacing of the slits 1 in a row and the spacing from row to row are in each case approximately half the length of the slit 1. If such an adhesive film 2 slit in this way is subjected to the shrinking process, then essentially the openings 3 shown in dashed lines result , between which webs 4 remain, each of which forms a honeycomb-shaped hexagon. The resulting network nodes are labeled 5.
  • FIG. 2 shows how the film 2 shown slotted in FIG. 1 looks in section. After the shrinkage, there is a structure which is shown in section in FIG. 3. It can be seen that the resulting net 6 has increased considerably in thickness compared to the film 2 shown in FIG. In particular, relatively thick webs have been created, which give the net C a high tear resistance.
  • FIG. 4 again shows an adhesive film 2, the slots of which have a greater distance from row to row than the slots according to FIG. 1.

Ober diesem Stück freihängender Schrumpfbahn 11 ist ein Infrarotstrahler 15 mit einem Reflektor 16 angebracht, der dieses freihängende Stück so weit erwärmt, daß die Schrumpfung eintritt.FIG. 5 shows the principle of a machine for performing the method according to the invention. At this machine is fed by means of the two feed salts 9 and 10 a slotted shrink web 11 in the direction of the arrow, which is then supported by the two support rollers 12 and 13 so that there is a piece of freely hanging shrink web 11 between these two support rollers. An infrared radiator 15 with a reflector 16 is attached above this piece of freely hanging shrinking web 11, which heats this freely hanging piece so far that shrinkage occurs.

A floor covering web 14 to which this network 11 is now to be applied is fed here below the support roller 12 in such a way that it is guided on the support roller 13, but below the network 11, which is still at a softening temperature.

The floor covering web 14 transported by the support roller 13 and now glued to the network 6 then passes between the two discharge rollers 17 and 18, which ensure that the finished floor covering web 14 is transported away.

Further devices with which the method can be carried out are described in DE-A-3.004.332. By means of the devices described in this DE-A-3.004.332, the shrinking slit film is pressed onto the foam back of the floor covering, resulting in a particularly firm connection between the network and the foam back. The second web, described in DE-A-3.004.332 and to be connected with the adhesive layer, is of course no longer applied in the process for producing the floor covering described above.

The plastic film to be shrunk may consist of or contain a polyethylene (PE), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) or EVA copolymer, polypropylene (PP), polyamide (PA), polyurethane (PU), polyester (PEST) or another suitable thermoplastic material which is in the thermoplastic state, ie at its softening temperature with which the foam back can be glued. In particular, a polyolefin film can be used here, since it is particularly adhesive at room temperature.

According to this, such a slotted film can have, for example, slits with a slit length of 4 mm Have slot spacing of 2.6 mm and a spacing of the rows of slots of 1 mm, the rows of slots being aligned in the longitudinal direction of the film and thus the track of the floor covering. A high-pressure polyethylene film of this type is then given a temperature of 115 ° C., for example by an infrared radiator 15, the film being passed through the device together with the floor covering at a feed rate of 25 m / min. The honeycomb openings 3 shown in FIG. 7 for the network then result.

According to FIG. 6, the total area of these openings 3 corresponds approximately to the total area of the remaining webs and network nodes, i.e. half of the back of the floor covering is formed by the network 11, while in the other, network-free half of the foam back is accessible from the outside. The surface of the network 11 glued to the foam back of the floor covering 14 can, however, also cover almost the entire back of the floor covering, so that e.g. only 15 - 25% of the foam backing remains free.

If such a floor covering is to be glued to a substrate, the substrate is first coated with an adhesive, whereupon the surface of the floor covering with the network 11 can then be rolled out and pressed onto this adhesive layer. If this glued-on floor covering is to be removed from the substrate again, it is pulled off together with the network from the adhesive layer, the removal being facilitated in particular when there has been no adhesion between the network and the adhesive layer. The back of the foam back is reinforced by the network, so that even if this foam back is glued to the surface in a punctiform manner, further tearing of the foam back cannot happen. As a result of this consolidation, the foam backing can also be produced more cheaply, ie inexpensive fillers can be added to the foam material in larger quantities than previously. Such a floor covering can now also be glued to a substrate by applying an adhesive to the back of the floor covering containing the network 11, which adhesive is distributed by means of a squeegee such that this adhesive essentially only in the Openings- 3 of the network and thus on the foam back itself is arranged, while the free surface of the network 11 should be as adhesive-free as possible. It is thereby achieved that the amount of adhesive applied to the substrate can also be reduced in area, which not only saves adhesive material, but also less adhesive remains on the substrate after the floor covering has been removed.

However, the floor covering according to the invention is also suitable for being laid on a smooth surface without gluing, with a certain degree of adhesion then occurring in the area of the openings in the network between the foam back and the surface.
