Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a ski boot comprising at least two parts whose edges overlap to surround the foot or the ankle and at least one closure and tensioning device for connecting these two parts, this device comprising a toothed belt secured of one of said parts of the shoe and cooperating with fastening and tensioning means integral with this same part or with the other part of the shoe.
  • a device of this type is known from patent FR-A-2,180,250.
  • the belt is notched and cooperates on the one hand with a tensioning device consisting of a unidirectional drive device working back and forth and on the other hand with a retaining pawl, all operating in the same way as a jack.
  • the tensioning and hooking means are therefore completely separate and work independently of one another.
  • This device is relatively complicated and bulky and is not always easy to use. Indeed, to release the belt it is necessary to release the retaining pawl, which can require considerable force when the belt is tight.
  • the change in tension can only be done one tooth at a time and these teeth must have a certain minimum dimension to ensure good retention.
  • the tension lever has a small multiplication, so that it becomes hard from a certain tension.
  • the present invention aims to achieve a device of the type defined above, but simpler. less bulky and requiring only minimal force for its actuation.
  • the ski boot according to the invention is characterized in that the toothed belt has a helical toothing and that the fastening and tensioning means consist of an endless screw secured to the other part of the boot, extending in the direction of the belt and provided with a manual actuation means, and by guide means holding the toothed belt in engagement with the worm a joint being further provided to allow the toothed belt to be separated from the worm or vice versa.
  • the tensioning and hooking means are constituted by the same element, the worm.
  • This device is particularly space-saving, because the screw and its rod extend parallel to the surface of the shoe and the worm itself can be embedded in the thickness of the shoe.
  • the belt guide means can be raised so as to allow rapid introduction of the belt between the worm and the raised guide means, these guide means then being folded down and fixed by an ad hoc means, so as to keep the toothing of the belt engaged in the worm.
  • the worm is mounted in a lifting support on which is further mounted an oscillating lever provided with a pawl cooperating directly with a toothing formed on the worm.
  • the shoe shown in Figure 1 comprises a shell 1 integral with the sole and intended to surround the foot, the heel and the lower front part of the ankle and a rod consisting of a front part 2 in the form of a gutter open to the rear, fixed in a known manner to the shell 1 at the height of the maléolles at two opposite points, such as point 3, around which the part 2 can oscillate slightly.
  • the rod further comprises a rear part 4, also in the form of a gutter, articulated around the points of articulation of the front part 2, this part 4 coming to fit in part 2 to surround the ankle and being foldable towards the rear to allow the introduction of the foot into the shoe.
  • These elements are made of conventional synthetic material.
  • the connection and tensioning device 5 is shown in detail in FIG. 2. It comprises a belt 6 integral with the front part 2 of the rod, for example in the same material as this rod, attached to it or coming from a part with it, and coming to surround part 4.
  • One of the faces of this belt 6 has a corresponding helical toothing 7 and cooperating with the toothing of a worm 8 housed in a cutout of part 2 of the rod and secured to an axis 9 housed in an extra thickness 2a of the part 2 of the rod.
  • the outer end of the axis 9 carries a cylindrical head 10 of diameter greater than the diameter of the axis 9 and coming to bear against a flat surface 11 of the extra thickness 2a.
  • the head 10 ends in a fork to receive the end of a crank 12 articulated on the fork by means of an axis 13.
  • the crank 12 has a notch 14 which is fixed to notch behind a projection 15 of part 2 of the shoe in the rest position.
  • the device further comprises a guide piece 16 in the form of an elongated rectangular cover having a U-shaped profile, for example of stamped metal, the wings 17 and 18 of which are articulated in the extra thickness 2a by means of an axis 19 near the inner end of the axis 9.
  • a clamp 20 in the form of a fork with two teeth, each of the teeth of which has a rounded notch 21 on the inside which is applied on the periphery of the cylindrical head 10 when the cover 16 is folded against the shoe, as shown in the drawing, to retain this cover 16 in the folded position.
  • crank 12 In place of the crank 12 it is possible to use a knob or a knurled chicken fixed at the end of the axis 9. Such an actuation allows a continuous adjustment of the tension.
  • All parts, including screw 8, can of course be made of synthetic material.
  • the worm 22 is pivoted in a support 23 hinged about an axis 24 on a boss 25 of the part 2 of the shoe.
  • the worm 22 is more precisely mounted in a slot 26 of the support 23.
  • This support 23 is held in the folded position on the shoe by a notch 27 which snaps onto a spout 28 formed on the part 2 of the shoe.
  • the end 29 of the support 23 is shaped to allow the lever to be grasped to raise it, respectively to fold it down and snap it into place.
  • the toothed belt 30 is guided by a passage 31 formed in part 2 of the shoe under the spout 28 and extending, in the form of a groove, under the lever 23, so that the worm 22 meshes with the toothing 32 of the belt in the folded position, through a cutout 45 in part 2 of the shoe.
  • a lever 33 On the support 23, in the slot 26 thereof, is further articulated, on the axis of the worm 22, a lever 33 provided with a pawl 34 constituted by a leaf spring, one of which ends is embedded in the lever 33 and one of its faces is supported on a bearing 35 of the lever 33 (fig.7), the other side being free.
  • the pawl 34 cooperates with ratchet teeth 36 cut directly on the worm 22.
  • the closing device is used as follows: the support 23 being preferably raised, the belt 30 is introduced as far as possible through the passage 31, then the support 23 is folded down. It is then sufficient to actuate the lever 33 according to a back-and-forth movement to drive the endless screw unidirectionally in the direction of the arrow Fl. Once the desired tension is obtained, the lever 33 is folded back into the position shown in FIGS. 5 and 7. To open the shoe, it suffices to raise the support 23, which has the effect of releasing the belt 30.
  • This device allows a practically continuous adjustment of the tension. It is particularly compact and easy to operate.
  • the end of the strap is also hidden under part 2 of the shoe.
  • FIG. 8 Such an alternative embodiment is shown in Figure 8 in a corresponding section to that of Figure 7.
  • the parts not shown are the same as those shown in Figures 5 and 7, the identical parts being further designated by the same references.
  • the lever 33 and the worm screw 22, modified in their shape, have been designated by the references 33 'and 22' respectively.
  • the worm 22 ' is provided with rounded notches 37 distributed around its periphery.
  • On the lever 33 ′ is articulated around an axis 38 a pawl 39 in the form of a rocker with two rounded nozzles 40 and 41 intended to cooperate with the notches 37 of the worm for its drive in rotation.
  • the pawl 39 is provided with a rounded head 42 engaging between two stops 43 and 44 of the lever 33 '.
  • On the head 42 rests the end of a leaf spring 45 embedded in the lever 33 'and extending in the direction of the axis 38, midway between the stops 43 and 44.
  • This spring 45 maintains the pawl-rocker 39 in one or the other of two stable positions, one of these stable positions being represented in FIG. 8. In this position one of the spouts of the pawl, in this case the spout 40 , is pressed against the worm 22 'and the spring 45 is slightly bent.
  • the worm 22' tends to retain the tilting pawl 39 including the spout 40, if it were not not already engaged in a notch 37, comes to engage in one of these notches.
  • the leaf spring 45 which may be made of synthetic material, is not strong enough to drive the endless screw in rotation and it flexes to pass to the other side, that is to say to the left of the head 42. This then occupies approximately the position shown in line mixed 42 ', the spring 45 coming in position 45;, press on the other side of the head 42 while maintaining the other spout 41 of the pawl pressing on the screw 22'.
  • the stop 44 abuts against the head 42 and the pawl 39 then being locked on the lever 33', it drives the worm in the direction F3 by its beak 40.
  • the reverse movement occurs, that is to say that the head 42 again passes to the left of the spring 45. If we continue to turn the lever 33' in the same direction F4 c 'is then the stop 43 which comes to meet the head 42 and drive the worm in the other direction F5. If, on the other hand, the lever 33 is stopped rotating in the direction F4 as soon as a certain resistance is encountered and it returns in the direction F2, the screw is again driven in the same direction F3.
  • the invention is not limited to a shoe fitted with the rear, described by way of example, but extends to any type of shoe, the closure and tensioning device with worm screw being able to replace in particular any type of known loops.
