Abstract

1. A smelt furnace (1) including a crucible-like, swivel-mounted vessel (2) with an upper opening (3) for receiving and removing the melting charge (4) and further including a heating for melting the melting charge (4), said vessel (2) being disposed at a slant with its central axis and being rotatable about said slanting axis, in front of the opening (3) of the vessel (2) provision being made for a fixed cover (9) or a plate having between itself and the opening (3) a circumferential channel (10) for collecting and conducting away the flue gases and in the form of a heating there being a burner (7) directed through the cover (9) or the plate into the opening (3).
