Abstract

A connector socket of the type used for multiple connections to electrical equipment and instrumentation has a printed circuit card with a number of contact blades projecting from the surface. External connection with the blades is made by a socket that provides coupling with each group of four contact blades. Several plugs may be used side by side. Guidance for the plugs is provided by a socket housing with separate guideways and latching lugs that engage with holes in the printed circuit board. The socket is flush mounted with the housing plate. The plug element also has a latching claw that engages with the socket.

Description

The invention relates to an arrangement of a plug connection on a measuring device, the back of which is closed by a cover which has an opening allowing the connection of device-side contact elements with at least one external plug.

A large number of measuring and counting devices, in particular when it comes to built-in devices, is designed in such a way that the various functional assemblies are assigned to a supporting housing segment or a supporting frame and that a cover, for example a hood-like housing component, which closes the rear of the housing segment is provided . Although this concept offers satisfactory mountability, testability and ease of maintenance with regard to the individual functional assemblies, it also has weaknesses with regard to the contact connections to be provided on the rear of the device for the one hand for energy supply and for the other hand incoming and outgoing measured value information, because in large-scale production in particular the effort for a satisfactory one Quality of the required plug connections is relatively high.

The requirement for minimizing the cost of such devices, which in themselves are secondary to a measuring device, has so far been realized in that the device-side contacts in the form of contact tongues are attached directly to a circuit board firmly connected to the load-bearing housing component and the plug receptacles with the slots associated with the contact tongues have been formed in the cover are.

This, in terms of effort, extremely simple solution can only be used where there are significant dimensional deviations, which result from the fact that the contact tongues are assigned to one, the plug socket to the other housing component, ie the cover, and thus the housing tolerances on the plug connections, which are to be kept rough in series production anyway, can be tolerated. What should increase with increasing electronics and data processing in the measuring device, for example, the number of poles of a connector and also the number of connectors, whereby in general the area occupied by the device-side contact elements is to be kept as small as possible, but also that on the back Given such a measuring device is limited space for the provision of several connectors, miniaturization of the connector connection elements in a frame, which is given by the housing of the external connector determined by conductor cross-section and manageability, is essential.

However, miniaturization means reducing the component wall thickness and thus the strength of the components, thus increasing, for example, the risk of the contact elements on the device being bent during assembly of the plug connection, so that miniaturization must generally result in an increase in the production quality by narrowing the tolerance ranges of the components involved.

Under these circumstances, however, it is no longer sensible to assign the connector connection elements to two different housing components. It is therefore, what has already been realized, forced to go the much more complex way in manufacture and assembly and a connector base, in which the device-side contact elements are suitably mounted or embedded in the casting technique, such on the supporting housing component or on one with it firmly attached subrack to fasten that the opening for the insertion of the plug in the cover with the interposition of a you tion is at least dustproof. The arrangement known in this context is not only expensive by placing or embedding contacts in a plug base, it also has the disadvantage of cumbersome and time-consuming installation due to individual wiring of the contacts with, for example, a printed circuit board or another contact carrier.

The present invention was therefore based on the object of designing and arranging a plug connection for the measuring device architecture described in such a way that the manufacturing and assembly outlay is largely reduced compared to the last-mentioned known solution and that it can be implemented with a significantly higher accuracy in comparison with the conventional first-mentioned solution is and is therefore suitable for miniaturization as well as for mechanical assembly.

The solution to this problem provides that the device-side contact elements are arranged directly on a circuit board fastened in the measuring device, that a plug base assigned to all contact elements is provided, in which a socket with the contact elements assigned openings and only a single connecting position of the plug and plug base allowing wall contours is formed and that the plug base can be connected to the printed circuit board on the one hand, and on the other hand is designed in such a way that there is a positive assignment with respect to the edge of the opening in the cover.

A preferred embodiment is characterized in that several sockets with unevenly shaped wall contours are formed in the plug base and that on the one hand a positioning pin, several spacing lugs and at least two bolts, on the other hand a circumferential one, together with one in a suitable manner at the opening of the cover formed edge of a labyrinth seal forming depression are formed.

With this solution, the advantage of the device-side contact elements, which is particularly expedient in the case of a large number, can thus be used in the course of mechanical assembly of the printed circuit board. On the other hand, the connector base assigned directly to the contact elements constitutes a housing component of the measuring device, in which, with mutual play around the edges of the connector base and the opening assigned to it in the cover, a tolerance-compensating, positive connection with the rear cover of the measuring device is provided is. It is also advantageous that the connector base, in particular in its design with several sockets, can not only be produced easily and with high accuracy, but can also be assembled in a simple, ultimately mechanical manner by plugging and latching on the printed circuit board and thus on the printed circuit board a contact or pin base forming a structural unit can be produced, in which the contact elements are largely protected and the soldered connections of the contact elements on the printed circuit board are relieved by a holding plane in the plug base located as far as possible from the printed circuit board. It is particularly worth mentioning that, with the proposed unambiguous assignment of the connector base to the printed circuit board independent of the housing tolerances, the functional unit created can already be connected in the preassembly stage to the commercially available connector types assigned to the finished measuring device and can thus be handled and checked in an installation-identical state independently of the measuring device.

In the following, the preferred embodiment of the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

In FIG. 1, 1 denotes a printed circuit board which is equipped with a larger number of contact elements designed as contact tongues - one is designated by 2. More specifically, there are four groups of contact elements 2 provided according to the commercially available eight-pin socket plugs assigned to the measuring device, one of which is shown and designated 3, but only the contact elements 2 are set which are actually required in accordance with the intended device design. For the sake of completeness, it should be mentioned that, in order to achieve production optimization, which also prevents riveting of angled contact tongues with the printed circuit board 1 due to the limited packing density, the contact tongues 2 together with electrical components, not shown, are machined by "shooting" into the printed circuit board 1 assembled and contacted with the assigned conductor tracks. This - on the one hand due to the relatively small circuit board thickness - extremely short clamping of the contact tongues 2, on the other hand - due to the space requirement of equidistantly arranged electrical components and the required engagement depth of the contact tongues 2 in the plugs 3 - relatively long length of the contact tongues 2, makes such a , practically punctiform mounting of the contact tongues 2 - extremely sensitive to occurring when inserting the plug, but also due to temperature and vibration as well as through Tolerance addition caused bending moments and provides with respect to the soldered connections of the contact tongues 2 as a result of the long lever arms constitutes a significant risk. This risk is according to the invention thereby reduces an extent that the contact tongue coulter an all intended S is assigned teckern.3 common connector base 4, in such a way that it is attached directly to the circuit board 1. A positioning pin 5, to which a corresponding hole 6 is assigned in the printed circuit board 1, and two pawls 7 and 8, which engage behind the printed circuit board 1 through suitable openings 9 and 10, are provided as fastening means. In addition, the associated with the contact tongues 2, formed in the bottom 11 of the connector base 4 slots 12 with relatively narrow fits, so that the bottom 11, when the connector base 4 is mounted and by means of spacers 13, 14, 15 and 16 formed on it and one the projection 17 associated with the positioning pin 5 is seated on the printed circuit board 1, represents a second holding plane with respect to the contact tongues 2 and thus the soldered connections of the contact tongues 2 are largely relieved by shortening the effective lever arm.

As shown in FIG. 2 can also be seen, four sockets 18, 19, 2 0 , 21 are formed in the plug base 4, the walls of which, according to the unspecified designs on the housings of the plugs 3, respectively have guide or positioning grooves 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 exhibit. In the illustrated embodiment, the grooves 26, 27, 28, 29 formed on the narrow sides of the sockets 18, 19, 2o and 21 are arranged unevenly in their position relative to the adjacent socket walls in order to provide a clear assignment of connector 3 and the respective socket 18, 19, 2o and 21 to achieve. Openings 3o, 31, 32 and 33 are used to insert the latches 34 which are formed like a rocker on the plugs 3 and which, when the plugs 3 are inserted into the respective sockets 18, 19, 2o and 21, snap into suitable undercuts formed in the plug base 4 -are. Except a circumferential recess 35 is formed on the plug base 4 with an edge 36 delimiting it. As a labyrinth-forming counterform to this, an edge 38 delimiting the opening 38 and a circumferential rib 40 are formed on the cover 37 of the measuring device, which has an opening 38 assigned to the plug base 4, and at a substantially constant distance from the edge 39.

As a side note it should also be mentioned that the two flaps 42 and 43, which are articulated by means of a film hinge 41 to the housing of the plug 3, carry inwardly facing cams which, when the flaps 42 and 43 are locked into the housing, are one in the conductor channels designated with 44 - intervene and hold in place in the plug inserted, provided with contact sockets line ends, so that the line ends in the plug housing are tilted and thus held adaptable.

The according to FIG. The measuring device architecture shown in FIG. 2 shows, for example, a load-bearing housing component 45, with which a mounting plate 46, which is not shown for the sake of simplicity, and the circuit board 1, also shown free of components, are firmly connected using a plurality of housing-fixed threaded bolts 47 and spacer sleeves 48 and nuts 49 assigned to them. As further shown in FIG. 2 can be seen, four plugs 3 are used in the plug-in socket 4, which is latched to the circuit board 1, one of which, for example, the power supply lines, other different measured value inputs and outputs and lines for signals dependent on the respective measured value and a z. B. Coupling lines for additional information, accumulated data, measuring range switching signals and the like. A comb-like hood 50 fastened and sealable to the cover 37 connected to the supporting housing component 45 serves on the one hand for the plugs 3 as access protection and on the other hand for bundling the lines. With 51 and 52 are in Connector 3 designated contact sockets, while 53 represents a suitable sealing material inserted into the form fit between cover 37 and connector base 4.

In the section shown to illustrate the shape of the connector base 4 according to FIG. 3 designates 54 the undercut which serves to engage the latch 34, while the slots 12 in the base 11 which serve to guide and hold the contact tongues 2 are assigned relatively deep depressions 55 which ensure a quick and damage-free assembly of the plug base 4 with respect to the contact tongues 2.
