Bei dem vorgenannten bekannten Farbenroiler handelt es sich um einen solchen, der gegenüber den bis dahin bekannten Farbenrollem lediglich dadurch modifiziert wurde, daß die Farbe dem Rollerkörper automatisch zugeführt werden kann und daß der äußere Rollerkörper, der den eigentlichen Auftrag der Farbe auf einem Untergrund bewirkt, sich um eine Längsachse des zylinderförmigen Walzenkörpers dreht.An application device of a similar type, but which is neither intended nor suitable for the application of underwater paints, is known (US Pat. An application device for underwater coating materials, with which the coating materials are applied to the surfaces to be treated by means of a paint brush or roller, having a drive (8, 14) which sets the paint brush or the roller (3) in rotational movements, and that the paint brush or the roller (3) comprises, in its holding means for the bristles (43), at least one through bore (21) through which the coating materials can penetrate between the bristles (43), characterised in that the holding of the bristles (43) is effected by means of a plate- shaped base (19) and that the handle (18) of the paint brush or the roller (3) is disposed in a chuck (2) which likewise has at least one through bore (28, 35) which is in communication with a supply pipe (17) for the coating materials.
2. An application device according to Claim 1, characterised in that the chuck (2) is driven by an air or hydraulic motor (8).
3. An application device according to Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the supply pipe (17, 36) for the coating materials is connected to the housing (1).
4. An application device according to Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that a handle (11, 31) is secured to the housing.
5. An application device according to Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that a shut-off valve (7 ; 16) is provided in the supply pipe (9 ; 10, 17) both for the pressure gas and for the coating materials, on the housing (1) or on the handle (11).
6. An application device according to Claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the chuck (2) is driven by an electric motor.
