Abstract

In order to cut a moving tobacco sheet, particularly a reconstituted tobacco sheet, into pieces (12) whose width is less than the width of the sheet, a cutting roller is used which rotates about an axis arranged transversely to the direction of advance of the sheet. The cutting roller has at least one sawtooth-like cutter arrangement which interacts with an opposing cutter. Each of the cutting edges surrounding a cutting element of the cutter arrangement produces, in each working step, a non-linear cutting line (7') which, at two points set apart from each other, adjoins a section of the cut edge produced in at least one preceding working step. In this arrangement, one piece of the tobacco sheet is separated off in each case, and the cutting line (7') forms a section of a new cut edge. Preferably, one leg of each cut edge produced in a preceding working step extends in a linear manner in the direction of advance and is prolonged by a leg of the new cutting line (9'). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a device for dividing a moving web of tobacco, in particular a reconstituted tobacco foil, into pieces, the width of which is smaller than the web width, with feed rollers arranged on both sides of the continuous web, with a knife roller, the axis of which is transverse to the Direction of passage is arranged, and which has at least an approximately sawtooth-like knife arrangement with a non-rectilinear cutting edge course, and with a counter knife, each of the cutting edges surrounding a cutting element producing a non-rectilinear cutting line in each working step.

From DE-AS 1 532 091 a device of this type is known, in which the continuous tobacco web is first provided by cross-cutting elements, which have, for example, a sawtooth-shaped cutting edge, with incisions that extend perpendicular to the direction of travel and are offset with respect to one another and that only extend over one Extend part of the web width. The web that is still treated in this way is subsequently cut by additional longitudinal cutting elements, which bring about the final separation into small pieces.

The object of the invention is to create a device which effects both the transverse and the longitudinal division by means of a single rotating knife roller.

According to the invention, this is achieved in that the point furthest from the axis of a cutting edge of the knife roller surrounding a cutting element and the point closest to the axis of the axially adjoining cutting edge of the knife roller lie in a plane that extends perpendicular to the tobacco path in the direction of passage, and that the cutting edges of the counter knife are parallel and in cutting position also each cutting edge of the knife roller at least approximately parallel to Ta baksbahn run, each separating a piece of the tobacco web, the cut line generated by each cutting edge in each work step in two spaced apart points adjoins a section of the cut edge generated in at least one previous work step and forms a section of a new cut edge. As a result, one of the desired pieces of the tobacco sheet is separated from the cutting edge of each cutting element, so that the cutting edge of the tobacco sheet is continuously changed, which is composed of the sections corresponding to the sawtooth shape. The cut line, which is convex due to the sawtooth shape, therefore only corresponds to the second half of the edge of the cut piece of tobacco. It can therefore be cut both lengthways and crossways using the very simple device with only a single knife roller. Due to the mentioned arrangement of counter knife and cutting elements, the respective cuts are achieved by a movement of the knife arrangement which is essentially perpendicular to the tobacco path, so that no exclusive cutting action of the interplaying cutting edges is required. Each cut can be unclean in that the piece of tobacco sheeting is at least partially torn off. But this also means that the cutting edges can be sharpened at much greater distances.

The cutting elements of the knife arrangement are preferably formed by individually attached knives. For this purpose, in a preferred embodiment, the knife roller can have at least one axially parallel cutout in which the knife arrangement is fastened, the axis of the knife roller running in or at least approximately in the plane of the tobacco web. This embodiment makes it easier, on the one hand, since the cutting elements run in or approximately in an axial plane of the knife roller that was intended about the tobacco lane parallel position of the cutting elements immediately before making the cuts, and on the other hand allows the protruding tips of the serrated cutting edge of the tobacco lane to penetrate into the axially parallel cutout, so that the movement of the tobacco lane remains essentially unobstructed, and the greatest possible displacement length of the tobacco lane can be achieved between two work steps is.

In another embodiment of the invention it is provided that the cutting elements are lined up without gaps, preferably a second knife arrangement being provided diametrically to the axis of the knife roller on the knife roller. The formation of two diametrically opposed knife assemblies allows, because between two work steps of the same cutting element a half rotation of the knife roller takes place, a double feed speed of the tobacco web compared to a simple knife arrangement, which can move in this interval by a maximum of the distance between the most distant and the closest point of a cutting edge .

However, since the maximum feed speed that can be achieved by the device for forming the tobacco web in the workflow is often less than the feed speed required for the minimum speed of the knife roller, in order to achieve the minimum speed of the knife roller, it is provided in a preferred embodiment that two knife arrangements are provided in which the individual cutting elements are alternately staggered. Since the interval between two working steps of the same cutting element is thereby doubled, the minimum speed of the knife roller can be achieved in spite of the low feed speed of the tobacco web predetermined by the device for web treatment and formation upstream of the device. To now do the training of a fixed To enable the counter knife, which is desirable due to the simplicity of construction, each part of the cutting element surrounded by a cutting edge has the shape of a right-angled triangle, one leg of the cutting edge running parallel to the direction of passage. This leg produces a partial cut in the direction of passage, so that the tobacco web is broken down into parallel strips, which are divided obliquely at the same time by the transverse legs of the cutting elements.

The cutting elements can of course also have other sawtooth-like shapes, but a special design or arrangement of the counter knife, for example its cyclical, axially parallel displacement, will be necessary for the passage of each cutting element.

The invention will now be described in more detail below with reference to the figures in the accompanying drawings, without being limited thereto.

Die Fig.1 und 2 zeigen schematisch Ansichten einer erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung in einer Stirnansicht und in einem Teillängsschnitt, die Fig.3 eine erste Ausführung einer Messerwalze mit Gegenmesser, die Fig.4 einen Schnitt nach der Linie IV-IV in Fig.3, die Fig.5 eine zweite Ausführung einer Messerwalze, und Fig.6 ein mit der Messerwalze gemäß Fig.5 erzeugtes Schnittmuster einer Tabakbahn.1 and 2 schematically show views of a device according to the invention in a front view and in a partial longitudinal section, FIG. 3 shows a first embodiment of a knife roller with counter knife, FIG. 4 shows a section along the line IV-IV in FIG 5 shows a second embodiment of a knife roller, and FIG. 6 shows a cutting pattern of a tobacco web produced with the knife roller according to FIG.

The device according to FIGS. 1 and 2 has, in a frame (not designated in any more detail) on which a drive motor is arranged, at least a pair of feed rollers 3 driven by it, between which a continuous web of tobacco, in particular a reconstituted tobacco foil, in the direction of the arrow is led to a cutting plant. The cutting plant has one driven by the drive motor Cutter roller 1 with the axis 6 and a counter knife 2 cooperating with it, and divides the tobacco web into pieces 12 (FIG. 6) of smaller width and length, which are essentially the size of natural tobacco leaves, so that they can be used in the same way without difficulty can be processed in the usual processing facilities of the tobacco industry.

The counter knife 2 and thus its non-linear cutting edge extends parallel to the tobacco web to be cut, and the axis 6 of the knife roller 1 lies in the extension of the counter knife 2 in or approximately in the plane of the tobacco web.

The knife roller 1 shown in FIG. 2 in a partial longitudinal section is shown in more detail in FIG. 3 in plan view and in section in FIG. It has two axially parallel cutouts 5 lying diametrically opposite one another, into each of which a knife arrangement with a plurality of similar sawtooth-shaped cutting elements 4 is inserted. The cutting elements 4, which are preferably formed by knives individually fastened in the cutout 5, have cutting edges 7 and, in the sectional position (FIG. 4), extend approximately parallel to the counter knife 2 and thus parallel to the tobacco web. They are therefore almost in an axial plane of the knife roller 1. The cutting edges 7 each enclose a right-angled-triangular part of a sawtooth-shaped cutting element 4 and have a leg 8 which extends from a point 11 closest to the axis to a point 10 which is the most distant from the axis and obliquely to the direction of passage A extends, which extends perpendicular to the axis 6 of the knife roller 1 in the embodiment shown, and a leg 9 which extends in the direction of passage. The cutting elements 4 adjoin one another in both knife arrangements without gaps, so that a point 10 of a cutting element 4 and a point 11 closest to the axis of the axially adjoining cutting element 4 move in a plane 13 extending in the direction of passage perpendicular to the tobacco track. Since the two knife arrangements are arranged symmetrically to the axis 6 in the cutouts 5, the counter knife 2 can be arranged in a fixed position, since one cutting element 4 of both knife arrangements can be made to rotate by rotation with the diametrically opposite cutting element 4 of the second knife arrangement.

A second embodiment is now shown in the embodiment according to FIG. 5, in which every second cutting element 4 has been alternately omitted in each knife arrangement compared to the embodiment according to FIG. However, all of the criteria described above are retained unchanged, in particular here too, each point 10 of the cutting edge 7 of a cutting element 4 that is furthest from the axis and a point 11 closest to the axis of the cutting element 4 that adjoins in the axial direction, but is offset by 180 °, in said plane 13 By moving the two knife assemblies to a gap, each recess in the counter knife 2, which is also stationary, is only ever intended for the passage of one and the same cutting element 4. The difference compared to the embodiment described in FIG. 3 is, however, that at a given feed speed of the tobacco track, the minimum speed of the knife roller 1 is reached, since a complete revolution of the knife roller 1 compared to half a revolution according to FIG. 3 is required for executing the same cutting sequence is. As a result, the required feed rate remains below a size that can be managed by the usual facilities which produce and further treat the tobacco web.

Dabei verlängert jede Schnittlinie 9' die vom selben Schenkel 9 vorangehend gebildete Schnittlinie 9' in Durchlaufrichtung, sodaß an sich eine Aufteilung der Bahn in schmale Längsstreifen, jedoch bei gleichzeitiger schrägen Unterteilung in einzelne Stücke 12 erfolgt.FIG. 6 shows the process sequence using a knife roller according to FIG. 5. At the beginning of the process, a straight edge of the tobacco web is assumed, which is fed from the feed rollers 3 to the knife roller 1. In the first sequence of cuts, the small triangles denoted by a are separated by the cutting edges 7. After a half-rotation of the knife roller 1, the offset cutting elements 4 of the second knife arrangement detect the tobacco web advanced by half the length of a cutting element 4, ie by half the distance between the two points 10 and 11, and separate the triangles denoted by b. After a further half-turn, the first knife arrangement now detects the pentagonal parts c of the tobacco web that adjoin the cut parts in the direction of passage, and cuts them off. The cut edge is irregularly serrated after the separation of parts a, b, c. After a further half-turn, the second knife arrangement, which previously cut out the parts b, now cuts out the parts d from the tobacco track, which now already have the parallelogram shape of the desired pieces 12. The size of the parallelogram corresponds to twice the triangle size of the part of each cutting element 4 enclosed by the cutting edge 7, whereby a jam or a hindrance in the advancement of the tobacco path is prevented by the part of each parallelogram adjoining the cutting edge of the last cut being cut into the cutout 5 the knife roller 1 can penetrate (see Fig. 4). The pieces 12 designated by the letters e to j are now separated from the tobacco web per half rotation of the knife roller 1. To cut off a piece 12, for example with the designation j, the cutting line 8 'generated by the leg 8 of the cutting element 4 when the preceding piece 12 with the designation h was cut is first that of the leg 9 of the axially adjoining cutting element 4 of the second Knife arrangement already when separating the piece g formed cutting line 9 ', furthermore the cutting line 9' generated by the leg of the same cutting element 4 when separating the piece i adjoining the piece g, and finally the cutting line 7 'to be carried out by the cutting edge 7 of the first-mentioned cutting element 4 of the first knife arrangement. It is therefore necessary to separate the piece 12 with the designation j parts from four cuts produced in different work phases. Each cutting line 9 'extends the cutting line 9' previously formed by the same leg 9 in the direction of passage, so that the web is divided into narrow longitudinal strips, but with simultaneous oblique division into individual pieces 12.

The cutting line runs similarly with the knife roller according to FIG. 3, but not only the cutting lines 9 'but also the oblique cutting lines 8' adjoin each other. Different variations are also possible. For example, the feed rate can be reduced so that the pieces 12 are narrower because the distance between two cutting lines 8 'is smaller. However, other geometrical shapes of the cutting elements 4 are also conceivable, however, an axial displacement of the counter knife 2 is alternately necessary in order to form the passage openings for the cutting elements 4 of the two knife arrangements 4, which in this case are not to be arranged axially symmetrically but offset. In any case, however, the prerequisite must be met that a point 10 of a cutting element 4 furthest from the axis and an axially nearest point 11 of the cutting element 4 which is adjacent in the axial direction rotate in a plane 13 which lies in the direction of passage A, so that the cutting lines generated are in each case adjacent to one another connect and the pieces 12 are separated.
