Abstract

Using the cleaning apparatus there can be cleaned the inner surfaces of a glass lining which laterally covers the support structure of an escalator. A cleaning carriage is guided parallel to the top flange and the bottom flange of the support structure and is reciprocated by a cable drive in the direction of the escalator inclination between the support structure and the glass lining. A cleaning liquid distributor uniformly distributes cleaning liquid at the inner surfaces of the glass lining. A wiper blade is mounted at the cleaning carriage and presses against the inner surface of the glass lining. During the reciprocation of the cleaning carriage the wiper blade wipingly moves along the glass lining. The excess cleaning liquid and the cleaning liquid which accumulates during the wiping of the glass lining is received and drained by a lower one of guide rails at which the cleaning carriage is guided.

Description

The invention relates to a cleaning device for a glass covering which laterally covers the structure of an escalator or a conveyor belt for people.

Recently, for architectural reasons, glass cladding has not only been planned for the balustrades but also increasingly for the lateral covering of the supporting structures of the escalators. A major problem with this design is cleaning, especially the inner surfaces of the glass cladding. It has been shown that these inner surfaces become more polluted than the outer ones. When dust and dirt are wiped off the shoes of passers-by on the surfaces of the step tread plates, at least some of them also get inside the escalator. The air circulation inside the escalator created by the circumferential band of steps then entails that dust particles are also deposited on the inner side surfaces of the glass cladding. For this reason it is necessary to clean these surfaces from time to time. To date, this problem has been solved for the few supporting structures of escalators clad with glass panes in such a way that the individual glass panes for cleaning were either designed to be dismantled or designed to be towed up or down. The major disadvantage of this design is that it is very difficult to access the sloping side parts of an escalator that connects two floors and, especially if several escalators are arranged one above the other and large floor openings are provided in the area of the floors, without additional scaffolding is almost impossible . With two crossed escalators arranged next to each other, access to the middle, directly opposite glass panels is even more difficult and opening or unfolding the glass panels for cleaning the inner surfaces is impossible at all. In addition, there are the major accident hazards to which cleaning staff are exposed during this work, and not least the increased risk of glass breakage.

The invention has for its object to provide an inexpensive cleaning device for the surfaces of the side glass cladding of an escalator structure, which can be used with any escalator arrangement and in which the glass panes must be removed or opened or removed and with which the cleaning of the surfaces the glass paneling can be carried out by the cleaning staff without the risk of an accident.

This object is achieved by the invention characterized in the claims.

The advantages achieved by the invention are essentially to be seen in the fact that the surfaces of the side glass cladding of the escalator structure can be cleaned without cleaning personnel having to have access to these surfaces from the inside or outside of the escalator, so that cleaning is possible at all times , if necessary also during the operation of the escalator, can be carried out by a single operator and that the risk of accidents for cleaning personnel and the risk of glass breakage are completely eliminated by the cleaning. In addition, any escalator arrangement on the construction site is possible without taking into account any cleaning device according to the invention that may be attached to the escalator.

  • Fig. 1: eine Seitenansicht der Fahrtreppe,
  • Fig. 2: einen Aufriss eines Reinigungswagens, und
On the accompanying drawings, an embodiment of the invention is shown, which is explained in more detail below. Show it:
  • 1: a side view of the escalator,
  • Fig. 2: an elevation of a cleaning trolley, and
  • 3 shows a section AA according to FIG. 1 through a side support of the supporting structure.

In Figure 1, 1 denotes the structure of the escalator. The upper chord of the structure 1 receives the number 2, the lower chord the number 3. The oblique part of the structure 1 is laterally covered by a glass panel 4, while the horizontal upper part 20 and the horizontal lower part 21 are clad with steel sheets. A balustrade 22 is built above the supporting structure 1. A lower step plate of the escalator is designated 24, an upper step plate 25. A cleaning trolley 7 is arranged between the supporting structure 1 and the glass cladding 4 and can be moved obliquely up and down on rollers 9 and a support roller 10 on associated guide rails. The cleaning carriage 7 is displaced via an endlessly connected traction cable 12 by a cable drive 11 driven by an electric motor 23. The traction cable 12 is deflected around a tensioning roller 13 arranged at the lower end of the escalator. A wiper blade attached to the cleaning trolley 7 is designated 8. 2, the cleaning trolley 7 is shown more clearly on a somewhat larger scale. It runs on the lower rollers 9 on a U-shaped guide rail 6 and is supported with the support roller 10 on an upper guide rail 5. A wiper blade 8 directed against the glass panes is adjustably attached to the cleaning trolley 7. A sponge strip 16 or spray nozzles 17 can be provided on the side next to the wiper blade for a further embodiment variant. The cleaning carriage is moved back and forth as desired by the pull rope 12.

Fig. 3 shows the cleaning car 7 running between the glass cladding 4 and the supporting structure I in side view. On the lower flange 3 of the structure 1, the guide rail 6 is fastened, on which the rollers 9 of the cleaning trolley 7 roll. At the top chord 2 of the structure 1 is the guide rail 5 attached, on which the support roller 10 is supported. Above the upper chord 2, a support profile 18 provided with openings is provided over the entire length of the glass cladding 4 for receiving an irrigation hose 14. A base cover profile 15 covers the support profile 18 and the irrigation hose 14 and at the same time serves as an upper holder for the glass cladding 4. On the inside of the glass cladding 4 there is a wiper blade 8, which is either attached to the cleaning trolley by means of screw bolts 19, or as a variant not shown springs is supported on the cleaning trolley. The cleaning trolley is connected to the traction cable 12 with the cable drive 11.

The cleaning device described above works as follows:
  • In the rest position, the cleaning trolley 7 of the cleaning device is located in the upper region of the escalator and is hidden behind the steel sheet cladding of the horizontal upper part 20, invisible to the passenger. Through the glass cladding, only the upper run of the endlessly connected pull rope 12 can be seen from the cleaning device. If the inside of the glass cladding 4 is very dirty, the cleaning device is used. Cleaning liquid is sprayed onto the inner surface of the glass cladding 4 after a brief actuation of a pump, not shown, provided over the upper edge of the supporting structure. Depending on the degree of pollution, this process can also be repeated. The cleaning liquid running off is collected by the U-shaped lower guide rail 6, passed into the lower escalator part and into a sewage pipe. The cleaning trolley 7 is now simultaneously pulled by the pulling rope 12 moved by the cable drive 11 and moved towards the lower end of the escalator. The glass panel 4 is pulled off by the wiper blade 8 pressed against the inner surface. The cleaning carriage 7 is guided by the rollers 9 and the support roller 10 through the lower and the upper guide rails 6, 5 in such a way that the wiper blade 8 is moved over the entire surface of the glass panel 4 with constant pressure. The water that collects when the glass panes are removed is likewise collected and drained off by the lower guide rail 6. The cleaning trolley can be moved several times.

It is readily conceivable that a similar device could also be used for cleaning the outer surface of the glass cladding.

Instead of the irrigation hose running along the entire length of the glass cladding, or as an addition to this irrigation hose, one or more lines with spray nozzles and a pump with cleaning nozzles arranged on the cleaning trolley could be provided, during the movement of the cleaning trolley back and forth cleaning liquid is continuously sprayed onto the surface of the glass panel in front of the wiper blade.

It is also conceivable that a row of spray nozzles could be arranged over the entire length of the glass cladding instead of an irrigation hose.

The cleaning trolley could also be equipped with rollers and a slide support guide or only with slide guides instead of with rollers and support rollers.

Instead of the electric motor coupled to the cable drive, a manual drive could also be provided, the operator being able to use a mechanical deflection device, not shown, to move the cleaning trolley by means of a hand crank from the upper entry plate of the escalator.
