Also, the finished core unit would be contorted along its length, which would render it difficult or impossible to further process the cable.
  • the tension equalizing means overcomes this problem and the tension reducing means reduces the tensions in the pairs to enable the stranding machine to operate with no overdue strain to draw the total of a hundred twisted pairs for the stranding operation.
  • the tubular members 54 As the twisted pairs pass across and are supported by the tubular members 54, they travel at different speeds dependent upon their positions and path lengths in the cable core unit 23 being formed by the forming and take-up means. There is a tendency for the tubular members to urge the twisted pairs in the forward direction because of the faster driven peripheral speed of the members. However, with regard to each tubular member 54, because of the slipping, driving engagement between the tubular members and their shafts 42, the upstream tensions in the twisted pairs and the effect of their relative speeds combine to slow down the speed of rotation of the tubular member to a speed which is influenced by these tensions and relative speeds of the pairs.

Any slight increase in the tension downstream from the cylinders will improve their frictional engagement with the pair, thereby reducing the tension again. It follows that the tension in any twisted pair upstream of the cylinders (e.g. up to 3 lbs.) is reduced on the downstream side to an acceptable level (e.g. about 1.0 lbs.) for drawing into the stranding machine. It is stressed that the driving force applied to each twisted pair is dependent upon the downstream tension in that pair.

Vorrichtung zum Herstellen einer Seeleneinheit für ein Fernmelde-Verbindungskabel aus verdrillten Einheiten von einzeln isolierten Leitern, mit einer Vielzahl von Drillmaschinen (10), die jeweils eine Vielzahl von Rollen (26) isolierter Leiter (30) tragen und jeweils einen Flyer (28) umfassen, der zum Einführen eines Dralls in die Leiter drehbar ist, um sie verdrillen zu lassen zur Ausbildung einer verdrillten Einheit (38), Mittel (31, 35, 36) zum Drehen jedes Flyers und ein Seeleneinheits-Formungs- und -Aufnahmemittel (14, 16, 18) in Tandem-Anordnung mit den Verdrillmaschinen, um die verdrillten Einheiten zusammenzuziehen und eine Seeleneinheit (23) auszubilden, wobei das Formungs- und Aufnahmemittel Zugmittel (19, 20, 21) umfaßt, um verdrillte Einheiten in das Formungs- und Aufnahmemittel einzuziehen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß jeder Flyer durch das Drehmittel mit Drehzahlen drehbar ist, die unabhängig von den Drehzahlen anderer Flyer veränderbar sind und während des Betriebs des Zugmittels veränderbar sind, um verdrillte Einheiten in das Formungs- und Aufnahmemittel einzuziehen.
2. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß mindestens einige Verdrillmaschinen jeweils einen Wechselstrom-Antriebsmotor (31) zum Drehen des Flyers der Maschine unabhängig von Flyern anderer Maschinen enthalten.

Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie ein Steuermittel (66, 68, 70) besitzt zum Steuern der Drehzahl jedes Motors, wobei das Steuermittel betreibbar ist, ein Signal entsprechend dem gewünschten Drallschlagwinkel einer durch eine Verdrillmaschine auszubildenden verdrillten Einheit zu erzeugen, um deren Wechselstrommotor den jeweiligen Flyer mit einer der Leitungsgeschwindigkeit der Vorrichtung zugeordneten Drehzahl drehen zu lassen, um den gewünschten Drallschlagwinkel zu erzeugen.

Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Steuermittel enthält: einen Computer (68), einen Mikroprozessor (66) für jeden Wechselstrommotor (31), wobei der Computer mit jedem Mikroprozessor verbunden ist, um ein erstes Signal an diesen zu senden, das dem gewünschten Drallschlag-Winkel bei einer bestimmten Leitungsgeschwindigkeit der Vorrichtung entspricht, der Mikroprozessor befähigt ist, ein Grund-Steuersignal entsprechend dem gespeicherten ersten Signal und modifiziert durch das zweite Signal auszugeben, um die Antriebsdrehzahl des zugehörigen Wechselstrommotors zu steuern und den gewünschten Verdrillschlagwinkel bei der tatsächlichen Leitungsgeschwindigkeit zu schaffen.

Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein Wechselstrom-Inverterantrieb (74) zwischen jedem Mikroprozessor (66) und seinem zugeordneten Wechselstrommotor (31) angeordnet ist, und daß der Inverterantrieb befähigt ist, das Grund-Steuersignal in ein endgültiges Steuersignal zu wandeln, welches ein Wechselstromfrequenz-Steuersignal ist und durch den Wechselstrom-Antriebsmotor zum Steuern seiner Antriebsdrehzahl empfangen wird.
6. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß erste zumindestens einem Mikroprozessor zugesendete Signal während des Betriebs seines Wechselstrommotors änderbar ist, um den Flyer zu drehen, und während der Verseilens einer Seeleneinheit.
7. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das erste jedem Mikroprozessor zugesendete Signal änderbar ist.

Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das erste jedem Mikroprozessor zugesendete Signal änderbar und zu jedem bestimmten Zeitpunkt derart ist, daß es in dem dem Mikroprozessor zugeordneten Wechseistrommotor einen Antrieb mit einer Drehzahl verursacht, die seinen Flyer mit einer gegenüber allen anderen Flyern unterschiedlichen Drehzahl drehen läßt.

Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß jedes erste Signal in zyklischer Weise änderbar ist, um den zugehörigen Flyer so drehen zu lassen, daß eine Zunahme und eine Abnahme des Drallschlagwinkels der zugehörigen verdrillten Einheit kontinuierlich zwischen oberen und unteren Grenzen erzeugt wird.
10. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sich der Wert des ersten Signals während seines Zyklus in einer Richtung mit einer anderen Rate ändert als in der anderen Richtung.
11. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die ersten den Mikroprozessoren zugesendeten Signale in Zyklen änderbar sind, die gleicher Länge und alle gegenseitig außer Phase sind.
12. Verfahren zum Herstellen einer Seeleneinheit (23) aus verdrillten isolierten Leitereinheiten (38), bei dem isolierte Leiter (30) in Verdrillstationen zu einer Vielzahl verdrillter isolierter Leitereinheiten verdrillt werden, wobei jede Leitereinheit eine einzige Drallrichtung in ihrer Länge besitzt, die verdrillten Leitereinheiten in Vorschubrichtung vor den Verdrillstationen und in ein Seeleneinheit-Formungs- und -Aufnahmemittel (14, 16, 18) bewegt werden, um die verdrillten Einheiten zusammenzuziehen und die Seeleneinheit zu bilden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Drallschlagwinkel einiger Leitereinheiten geändert werden, während die Einheiten gebildet werden, wobei bei jeder Leitereinheit in jedem Querschnitt durch die Seeleneinheit ein Drallschlagwinkel geschaffen wird, der sich entweder von dem einer anderen Einheit unterscheidet oder in einem unterschiedlichen Sinn gegenüber dem einer anderen Leitereinheit ändert.
13. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß bei dem Verfahren kontinuierlich die Drallschlagwinkel aller Leitereinheiten geändert werden, während die Einheiten ausgebildet werden, um in der Seeleneinheit einen durchschnittlichen Drallschlagwinkel in jeder Einheit zu schaffen, der im wesentlichen über spezifische Längen der Seeleneinheit gleich dem jeder anderen Einheit ist.
14. Verfahren nach Anspruch 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Drallschlag-Winkel zyklisch geändert werden, wobei die Zyklen (17, 82, 84) im wesentlichen die gleiche Charakteristik, Amplitude und Länge haben.
15. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß dabei gleichzeitig beim Formen der Einheiten die Winkel der Drallschläge aller Leitereinheiten geändert werden.
16. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Drallschlagwinkel kontinuierlich geändert werden.
17. Verfahren nach Anspruch 16, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß bei dem Verfahren Drallschlagwinkel zyklisch geändert werden, wobei die zu irgendeinem bestimmten Zeitpunkt gebildeten Zyklen (76, 82, 84) von im wesentlichen gleicher Länge und gegenseitig außer Phase sind.
18. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß bei dem Verfahren alle Drallschlagwinkel kontinuierlich und zyklisch geändert werden, wobei alle Zyklen (76, 82, 84) von im wesentlichen von gleicher Länge und gegenseitig außer Phase sind.
19. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß dabei Drallschlagwinkel gebildet werden durch Durchleiten isolierter Leiter durch Flyer (28) an jeder Drallstation, wobei jeder Flyer durch einen eigenen Wechselstrom-Antriebsmotor (31) gedreht und jeder Drallschlagwinkel durch Verändern der Antriebsdrehzahl des Wechselstrom-Antriebsmotors geändert wird.
20. Verfahren nach Anspruch 17, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß dabei Drallschlagwinkel mit im wesentlichen identischen Zykluswegen (76, 82, 84) der Änderung gebildet werden, und längs jedes Zyklusweges der Drallschlagwinkel mit einer Rate ansteigt, die unterschiedlich von seiner Abnahmerate ist.
21. Seeleneinheit für Fernmeldeverbindungskabel mit einer Vielzahl isolierter Leiter (30), die zu verdrillten Leitereinheiten (38) geformt sind, wobei jede Leitereinheit eine einzige Verdrallungsrichtung in ihrer gesamten Länge besitzt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Drallschlagwinkel mindestens einiger Leitereinheiten sich in Längsrichtung der Seeleneinheit (23) ändern und bei jedem Querschnitt entweder unterschiedlich von den Drallschlagwinkeln anderer Leitereinheiten sind oder sich in unterschiedlichem Sinn gegenüber Drallschlagwinkeln anderer Leitereinheiten ändern.
22. Seeleneinheit nach Anspruch 21, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sich die Drallschlagwinkel aller Leitereinheiten in Längsrichtung der Seeleneinheit ändern.
23. Seeleneinheit nach Anspruch 22, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Drallschlagwinkel sich kontinuierlich und zyklisch ändern.
24. Seeleneinheit nach Anspruch 23, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß bei irgendeinem bestimmten Querschnitt der Seeleneinheit die Zyklen (76, 82, 84) von im wesentlichen gleicher Länge und gegeneinander außer Phase sind.
25. Seeleneinheit nach Anspruch 21, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Drallschlagwinkel sich in Längsrichtung der Seeleneinheit ändern, um einen Durchschnittsdrallschlag bei jeder Leitereinheit zu schaffen, der im wesentlichen gleich dem jeder anderen Leitereinheit längs spezifischer Längen der Seeleneinheit ist.
26. Seeleneinheit nach Anspruch 25, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sich der Drallschlagwinkel in jeder Leitereinheit kontinuierlich und sich in Zyklen ändert, wobei bei jedem bestimmten Querschnitt der Seeleneinheit Zyklen (76, 82, 84) unterschiedlicher Leitereinheiten von gleicher Charakteristik, Amplitude und Länge und gegenseitig außer phase sind.
27. Seeleneinheit nach Anspruch 25, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Leiterpaare miteinander verseilt sind.
