Abstract

In an apparatus for stamping flat objects of different sizes and thicknesses, particularly postal items, said objects are arranged vertically on a feed table. The objects are individually removed from the latter and successively moved past a stamp and are then conveyed to a depositing table. The supplied and deposited objects are in parallel planes to one another. The feed and depositing tables are successively arranged in a vertical direction to one of these planes. The objects are removed from the feed table at right angles to said direction and are supplied to the depositing table. The objects are placed on the feed table by their leading edge in the transfer direction during individual removal. The conveying path of the object between the feed and depositing tables is horizontal.

Description

The invention relates to a device for stamping flat objects of different sizes and thicknesses, in particular postal items, which are arranged vertically or approximately vertically on a feed table, removed individually from the feed table, guided past a stamp in succession and transported to a storage table, the applied and deposited ones Objects are arranged in mutually parallel planes and the objects are removed in the direction of these planes from the feed table and fed to the storage table, that the objects can be placed on the feed table with their front edge in the direction of transport during the occasional removal, and that their transport path between the feeder - And the tray table is arranged horizontally.

Such a device is known from GB-A-9 031. The objects are separated by means of a circulating belt against which the objects are pressed. The lay-on and lay-down table lie one behind the other in the direction of the levels of the put on and put down objects. The object in contact with the belt is carried along by the frictional forces and guided through a gap. However, the separation is relatively problematic, since the contact area between the belt and the adjacent object is small compared to the contact area between the individual objects. It can happen that either the belt slides along the adjacent object without taking it along, or that two or more objects are taken along at the same time and transported through the gap. Furthermore, it may be possible that the device does not have the required compactness.

It is therefore the object of the present invention to improve the aforementioned device in such a way that the reliability of the separation is increased without increasing the forces to be applied. This device should also be as compact as possible.

This object is achieved in that the feed and storage table in the to the levels of. applied and stored objects are arranged in the vertical direction one behind the other, and that for the individual removal of the objects a pneumatic separating device is provided which has a circumferential perforated band for taking the first object on the feed table by negative pressure and an opposite pneumatic counter holder for holding the second object has the feed table by negative pressure.

Advantageous further developments of the device according to the invention result from the subclaims.

The invention is explained below with reference to an embodiment shown in the figure. This shows a device for stamping flat objects, in particular mail items of different sizes and thicknesses, in a top view.

The objects 1 to be stamped are stacked on a feed table 2. Here, the objects 1 are arranged vertically and rest with an edge on a stop bar 3. The objects 1 are located on a system conveyor belt 4 and are held in their vertical position by a system stacking plate 5. The stacking plate 5 is fastened to a joint 6 which can be displaced on the stop bar 3. The system stacking plate lies with its own weight on the conveyor belt 4 and is always pressed by this against the objects 1 located on the feed table 2. The conveyor belt 4 can be moved in the direction indicated by the arrow. The movement of the conveyor belt 4 is controlled by a switch, not shown, which is located in the area of a pneumatic separating device 7 and detects that the objects 1 abut on the separating device 7.

The separating device 7 has a circumferential perforated band 8, through which a negative pressure is exerted on the foremost of the stacked objects 1. The perforated tape 8 runs in a clockwise direction and takes the suctioned foremost object 1 with it. A pneumatic counter-holder 9 opposite the perforated band 8 holds the second object arranged behind the first object in case it should be taken along by the first object due to friction. The counter holder 9 also works with negative pressure, but this is less than the negative pressure acting on the first object through the perforated band 8.

The objects 1 separated in the manner described are guided into the space between two circulating conveyor belts 10 and 11 and are carried along between them in the direction of the arrow.

The speed of the conveyor belts 10 and 11 is greater than that of the perforated belt 8. As a result, the objects guided between the conveyor belts 10 and 11 are pulled away faster than the subsequent object delivered by the perforated belt. This creates a space between the individual objects that is sufficient to be able to identify them individually.

The isolated and transported between the conveyor belts 10 and 11 objects are detected by a light barrier 12. When the front edge of an object is ascertained, this triggers one revolution of a stamp 13 following in the transport path of the objects. The stamp is exchangeably attached to a core-toothed stamp shaft. Another light barrier 14 is used for each Positioning of the stamp 13 in the basic position between two stamping processes.

The object 1 released by the conveyor belts 10 and 11 is fed to the gap between the stamp 13 and a counter-pressure roller 15. The spring-loaded, driven counter-pressure roller ensures strong and even stamp impressions. The gap between the punch 13 and the counter-pressure roller 15 can be preset by an adjusting device 16. This is advantageous when stamping objects 1 of approximately the same thickness. In this way, permanent and sudden movements of the counter-pressure roller can be avoided.

The counter-pressure roller 15 is further connected via a joint 17 to a movably mounted roller 18 which serves to guide the conveyor belt 10 and is arranged at the exit of the slot formed by the conveyor belts 10 and 11. By means of this articulated connection between the roller 18 and the counter-pressure roller 15, this is already preset to its thickness before the arrival of an object on the stamp 13. As a result, even stamp impressions are always achieved even with objects of different thickness.

An inking unit 19 with a felt roller impregnated with stamp ink and a driven intermediate roller serves for the uniform inking of the stamp 13 with each revolution of the same.

After passing the stamp 13, the objects 1 are taken over by a further conveyor belt 20 and conveyed to a storage table 21. This transport is also carried out with the aid of a guide plate 22 with a guide roller and a support roller 23 with a driving plate.

The storage table 21 is constructed essentially in the same way as the feed table 2. The arriving objects are first separated from the conveyor belt 20 by a stop bracket with a scraper 24. The stacked objects are conveyed by a storage conveyor 25 in the direction of the arrow. A stackable stacking plate 26 which can be displaced in the same way as the stacking plate 5 is pressed by a counterweight against the stacked objects 1, so that they keep their vertical position. These can be manually removed from the storage table, the stacking plate 26 then being moved automatically to the left until it hits the newly placed objects.

The contact of the front edges of the objects 1 with the stop bar 3 ensures that only the foremost object comes into contact with the perforated band 8 of the pneumatic separating device 7. Reliable separation is therefore possible. Because the objects are only moved horizontally from the separating device 7 to the conveyor belts 10 and 11, the suction force acting on the objects can be kept relatively low.
