Description

NOUVEAU PROCEDE DE MODIFICATION DE L'ETAT DE SURFACE DE MATERIAUX ET OBJETS PRESENTANT UN ETAT DE SURFACE MODIFIE NEW METHOD FOR MODIFYING THE SURFACE CONDITION OF MATERIALS AND OBJECTS HAVING A MODIFIED SURFACE CONDITION
OBTENUS PAR CE PROCEDEOBTAINED BY THIS PROCESS
The present invention relates to a new process for modifying the surface condition of the most diverse materials. It relates more particularly to a new relief offset printing process. The multiple facilities for making printing plates and offset plates, the flexibility offered by editing for layout, the ease of storing films and materials, the possibility of printing color on media. ¬ relatively ordinary ports, explain the importance taken by offset for printing packaging, catalogs, periodicals, books, etc. The rotary offset printing allows printing without pressure on virtually all surfaces. Offset inks must meet a very large number of physicochemical constraints and have defined flow, coloring and drying on the support, they must without accident play their role of hydrophobic substances in dynamic equilibrium with water and the plate. Thanks to the rotary movement of offset presses which allows much higher speeds than the reciprocating movement of lithographic presses, for example, the offset process has taken place among the major printing processes. However, this process has an important drawback: the surfaces thus treated and pressed have after drying an absolutely uniform relief. If one wishes to obtain a less uniform, more heterogeneous, more artistically decorated surface, it is necessary, in accordance with currently known techniques, to resort to complicated and costly processes such as, for example, the mechanical deformations of the support. It is also necessary that the different supports and surfaces can withstand these different mechanical stresses. Other techniques such as flocking, the use of inks containing swelling agents or a succession of a plurality of prints on the silk screen give disappointing results or are economically very expensive or cannot be applied only on perfectly flat surfaces.
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a relief offset printing method which better meets the needs of the practice than the methods aiming at the same object previously known, in particular in that it allows to obtain reliefs of a variety as large as desired, in that it can be applied to all surfaces and on all materials and in that it is simple, easy and economical to execute. The subject of the present invention is a method for modifying the surface condition of various materials and in particular a relief offset printing method, characterized in that a plurality of inks or varnishes are used simultaneously typo-offset, serigraphy or offset having different temperatures and polymerization rates, in that a pre-drying is carried out at an appro- priate temperature. required and for a sufficient time to polymerize a certain quantity and a certain type of ink, by applying to the printed surface particles of fillers which adhere exclusively to inks not yet polymerized, in that one removes by suction and / or blowing the particles of excess charge and in that the drying ends at a temperature and for a suitable time to complete the polymerization of all of the ink present and of all the types of ink. The inks and varnishes are chosen according to the nature of the material whose surface must be modified. The different loads can be applied in one or more operations. The modification of the surface condition is easily carried out and the decorative effects obtained - in particular for packaging - are truly extraordinary.
The fillers which can be used for application on inks not yet polymerized can be of different chemical nature and of different colors. In accordance with the invention, the filler particles are taken from the group which comprises mica, expanded mica, pearlescent base, expandable plastic foam, colloidal silica, metal powders, cork powder, agents bulking agents, flocking particles or flocs, leather powder, plastic powder, asbestos powder, rubber powder, glass microbeads, luminescent or phosphorescent products, etc.
These different filler particles can be applied and distributed both by spraying and by an inkwell.
Le procédé selon l'invention per¬ met ainsi d'obtenir à volonté des surfaces présentant touteAccording to an advantageous embodiment of the process which is the subject of the present invention, after the application of the filler particles, the whole of the treated surface is subjected to a varnishing which has the aim of reinforcing the solidity of the decoration thus obtained. . The method according to the invention thus makes it possible to obtain at will surfaces having all
It allows in particular to obtain surfaces having irregular thicknesses with rounded edges with remarkable decorative effect.
In addition to the foregoing arrangements, the invention also comprises other arrangements which will emerge from the description which follows, which refers to an example of implementation of the method according to the present invention. It should be understood, however, that this example is given only by way of illustration of the subject of the invention, of which it in no way constitutes a limitation.
EXEMPLE D'UN TRAITEMENT DE SURFACE : Impression en relief sur des étuis pour flacons.EXAMPLE OF A SURFACE TREATMENT: Relief printing on cases for bottles.
On prépare quatre encres de couleurs différentes (250 g de chaque) pour décorer 50 % de la surface de 50 000 étuis de 0,25 1.Four inks of different colors (250 g of each) are prepared to decorate 50% of the surface of 50,000 cases of 0.25 1.
Two inks are quick-drying, the other two are slow-curing. As soon as the quick-drying inks have taken the solid consistency, the cases are sprinkled using a hopper and a conventional spray nozzle per 4.25 kg of a mixture of swelling powder and silica colloidal. This charge is fixed exclusively on the parts of the surface covered with ink not yet polymerized. The excess charge is recovered by suction, the loss hardly exceeding 5% of the. load implemented. The cases are then dried in the oven for 25 minutes at 110 ° C and the ink thus polymerized retains the applied load, irreversibly.
If desired, the cases can undergo a finishing varnish.
The decorative effect obtained is extraordinary. As is apparent from the above, the invention is in no way limited to those of its embodiments of implementation and application which have just been described more explicitly; on the contrary, she embraces all the variations which can come to mind of the technician in the matter, without departing from the framework, or the scope, of the present invention.
